Breville's Barista Express coffee machine allows you to grind the beans right before extraction, and its interchangeable filters, and a choice of automatic or manual operation, ensure authentic cafe results in no time. It uses an integrated conical burr grinder with dose control to deliver the right amount of strength per cup, digital temperature control to deliver water at precisely the right temperature, and a steam wand to create micro foam.

Bro, who hurt you?
Respect this neg
What would you suggest we buy instead? Budget up to $1,000
A rancilio silvia will last a life time with maintenance and offer much greater resale value if you choose to move in from it. These Breville appliances aren't serviceable and are landfill when they fall.
We're not running a cafe dude, for most people this is a huge step up from some boiling water and blend 43. What do you mean arnt servicable? I've changed seals, orings, grinding burrs and its still going as good as I bought it 5-6 years ago for around $500
@danzig440: Breville machines can be serviced and parts are readily available but the point with the Silvia is that they are a simpler and more heavy duty build so don't need servicing nearly as much as a Breville (speaking as an owner of both).
At double the price and with no grinder included. Big ask for people who may not even know if they like making their own espresso.
Bambino + hand grinder is the lowest upfront cost and easily upgradeable
Bambino + any burr grinder is the best way to start
Or get the Express if you don't want clutter.
Bambino plus paired with a decent grinder!
3 years on and mine is still going strong making about 6 cups of coffee a day.
4 years on and my BBE is still going strong. Just upgraded the grinder to a used Mazzer but would still recommend this for people dipping their toes into lattes/milk drinks.
Wife still wants the BBE user friendly experience for her milk drinks so the integrated grinder is still useful as she won't need to (profanity) around with the grind settings on the Mazzer.
Also thermoblock beats boiler for heat up time. It's fine for people who don't need a "pro-sumer" experience.
Mine is coming up on 6 years old and going strong. Makes - minimum of 4 coffees a day.
For what it's worth, I've had mine for 6 years and made at least 1 coffee a day (usually 2-3) with it and it still runs flawlessly. You're not wrong in what you say, but it's still a fantastic entry point into the world of coffee IMO.
I am looking at upgrading soon though. Just don't know what! Saw you mentioned the Rancilio Silvia, what grinder would you recommend to pair with that?
arggg, i currently own a BES870 but desperately wanting to upgrade to a BES878…. Come on Costco.. first the Dual boiler, now this, please have the 878 on special next!
Why is the 878 so much better than the 870?
Baratza burrs in the grinder, "Thermojet" heating system which means the machine is ready to pull a shot within about 3 seconds vs the Express taking about 30 seconds
Got one of these that is approaching 10 years old. Pressure gauge has stopped working, the grinder is noisy as hell…but it's still going strong, making around 3 coffee's a day.
Have had it serviced twice in that time.
Are they selling at the same price in store?
