Damn I remember when these were under $20 when Amazon JP first opened up
Love mine to "meal prep" some coffee for a few days. Definitely consider the 1L over 600mL - in terms of effort vs batch size.
bought a similar brew pot from kmart for $8, don't use it much, the coffee basket is too small to hold any decent amount of coffee and allowing it to fully saturate.
I much prefer the french press to make my cold brew.
If you don't have a french press, just use a large jug, fill it with coffee and water steep for 24hr and filter it through a strainer/filter/cheese cloth.
So it’s literally more expensive on Amazon? (Albeit only marginally)
Doesn’t seem worthy of a neg to me. Especially as your precious Amazon are delivering to less and less regions these days.
More or less regular Amazon price. Usually cheaper at Amazon if you have Prime.
I would just use a regular jar and filter it on a Hario V60 instead. This way you have more options and the end result may be better. A bit healthier as well.
Healthier? What on earth are you talking about? Also V60 is pour over, not even the same thing.
Of course it is not the same thing, and that is the beauty of it. With v60 you can filter the pulp out of a cold brew same as you do a pour over, or you could just do a normal pour over - two in one.
Paper filters are healthier than stainless steel mesh because filtered coffee does not raise cholesterol as much as unfiltered does. Plus, a little bonus in a sense that you don't have to brew it in plastic like this cold brew bottle does.
This is not a stainless filter.
Also paper filters are healthier? Quick google fu says this is inconclusive and soem studies showing no difference (which is what I'd guess would be the case).
@Calvin27: Filtered coffee = less cholesterol. Not a stainless mesh? Even worse then, adds to potential microplastic concern.
Cafestol and Kahweol:
Coffee contains natural oils called cafestol and kahweol, which can raise cholesterol levels, particularly LDL ("bad") cholesterol.
Brewing Methods:
Unfiltered coffee (e.g., French press, Turkish coffee, boiled coffee, espresso) allows these oils to pass into the beverage, leading to a greater potential increase in cholesterol.
Filtered coffee (using paper filters) traps most of these oils, significantly reducing their presence in the final drink.
Evidence:
Studies generally indicate that filtered coffee has a lesser impact on cholesterol levels compared to unfiltered coffee.
The consensus is that paper filters are effective at removing a large portion of the cholesterol-raising compounds.
Amazon have it for cheaper with free shipping
Blue 1L: $32.90 - https://amzn.asia/d/iJuqjrb
Red 600ml: $30.00 - https://amzn.asia/d/1qXoATs
I've bought a few of these in 1L and 600ml variety. Don't ever recall paying $42.95 / $49.95 for it. Pretty sure this is normal price.
Also cheaper on amazon with prime - $32.90 including delivery and I've definately seen it cheaper before.
