    • Wow, quite a big jump in price when going up a size. I bought a set of four 265/65R18 from Bob Jane two weeks ago for $1186, Mycar now is selling for $1130 which is like $300 more expensive than 265/65R17.

      • Its mostly about the current specific popularity of the size - economies of scale.

My '02 ML270 takes 275/55R17 stock. That size has always been incredibly expensive because it isn't used on very many vehicles. There's like 5 tyres listed on tyroola in that size.

But these days 265/65R17 size is stock on almost every dual cab ute or SUV on the market. So that size is very cheap and is legal to use on my old Merc SUV. There's 5 pages of tyres on tyroola priced below the cheapest 275/55, and I lost count of pages after that.

Eventually your 265/65R18 will overtake the R17 as most popular size since that is the long term trend - more wheel, less rubber.

  • Geez thank jebus I booked it in at 3am. No website or checkout problems.

Good luck and good luck they have it in stock
and didn't over estimate and don't bait and switch on you…..

  • Got there in the end!

  • do you need to pay upfront or when they fit them?

    • +1

I bought them in store and don't have to pay till I get them put on.

    • I ordered online and payment was deducted straight away.

  • Try to book last night at midnight, was stuck at finalising the booking for 45mins. Had to leave and go to bed as I have to start work early this morning. Now I am in and no Pirelli tyres available for my car…

    • +1

      Try go in store

    • Try Bob Jane. They have 40% and cheaper prices. Might work out similar net price.

    • My tyre size also showed no stick online for the Powergy. I went in store and they confirmed no stock to order the Powergy so had to go the P7s

  • -2

just had a tinfoil hat thought.
what if mycar goes belly up before Jan?
    .

    • They are owned by Continental (German tyre company worth A$20B).
It's possible their Aussie business goes bust, but you'd think Continental would be in it for the long haul.
Mycar do this deal every year, so it's not like it's a last-minute dash to grab $$$ before they go bust.

      • +1

I did stipulate it was a tinfoil hat thought…. I had just finished reading about KTM's woes, but nonetheless there is an element of risk in paying hundreds (& in some cases more than a thousand) dollars for something that you can't get your hands on for 2 months. I'm running Pirelli's from BF a couple of years ago (paid online upfront) as is my son from last year (although for his it was organise in store, pay on fitment)
        .

        • There is zero risk as long as you pay with a credit card.

If the vendor goes bust before delivery, your card provider will just reverse the transaction to make you whole.

With a credit card, the bank becomes the creditor - not you 👌

    • -1

Pirelli likely to also go under given MyCar is probably their biggest debtor

  • PIRELLI SCORPION MS 0 99V
    225/55R19 99V
for my maxda cx5 all sold out lol

  • you will find these 40, 50% w.e % off deals bring the prices down to the same price as places like tempe tyres, tyreoola, tyresales, etc so no need to freak out or rush into buying new tyres if yours probably have 10 - 15,000km left and wont make it to next black friday

However the benefit of going to a bob jane or mycar is you have easy / local service if you have something go wrong or you need corrections made.

  • +2

The last time I went to my car Knox, they didn't have a machine for 22 inch wheels…wasted time lining up, leaving my car there and to be rudely turned away

  • I went to Bob Jane, and my tyres are unavailable in Australia. BJ is $50 cheaper than MyCar. I went to Jax Tyres and matched the price of BJ, and they are happy to fit it next week. It is unlikely MyCar is mid-Feb. They confirmed they have stock. All tyre companies order through Pirelli directly, and they don't keep it in their store.

  • No P Zero in sizes under 17 inch, dissapointing this time around. Was hoping I could cop a cheap set for the MX5 :(

    • I was checking the same, No 205/45/17 available online for Mx-5 ND GT

  • +1

This deal got me a broken MAF sensor wiring loom that took weeks to figure out - no thanks.

  • gee they're cheap. P0 255/35R19 96Y RFT sub $300.
Too bad they don't have the front tyres… 255/40R19 in runflats.

Edit: all I see is afterpay / zip and It's not loading (page keeps automatically refreshing every few minutes as I'm waiting for the other options) so I can't check out… Annoying.

    • So works better on Firefox on laptop. Don't use safari on an iPhone, will infinitely reload and lag out.

  • 215/55/17 ordered finally. 45min wait time to get to portal, but glad tyres were in stock. thanks OP.

I compared BobJane before ordering as well, they were ~$233 expensive than mycar for that profile. So went with mycar.

For those having trouble ordering online, give them a call. I call my local store via their general line, although I was put on hold for 30mins and the tyres were sold out online, I was able to put an order through the store. I didn't even have to pay anything until the tyres are fitted. So it worked out well in the end.

    • +1

Guys, I was able to drive into my local store and got 4 x Pirelli for my Nissan X-Trail for $550 + $39 balancing and alignment all up. Instead of waiting online, just drive up and if the store manager is as nice as the one I got no need to endlessly wait to book it online.

      • is price in store same 50% off as online?
$39 alignment looks quite good as online quoted $89.

    • Yes call them, I got stuck on the web site for 2hrs, it kept reloading. Made the call, booked it through in 5mins, life saving !

    • Is your fitting booking still next Jan?

  • Got 2 tyres. Geez that site is excruciating

  • Called tyresales, they immediately price matched.
    Extra advantages:
    - Faster. the tyres will get to fitment centre likely late next week/early week after (WA) can then book in directly with place
    - Can choose fitment centre and they are all independent so have different perks. One I chose does free alignment on fitting and then again at 5000k. mycar charges like $100 or something for that. East coast i think some clean your car as well.
    - Wont have to deal with mycar's shit workmanship (ymmv, but have had this multiple times)

    • Was it for 4 tyres only?

    • Rang them just now and they refused to price match since MyCar doesn't have stock available until Jan

    • Don't know how you got them to price match. I rang TyreSales at 9am and they said they couldn't price match. Tried again later and they asked for screenshots which I sent through, and they confirmed that they can't price match as they are not in stock for immediate installation due to the installation date being in January.

      • +1

Emailed them the screenshot of quote and spoke to a lovely person named Jacinta. Invoice below if it helps anyone.

edit: and literally just got a call from the tyre place and they already in stock, fitting them on Saturday!

        • That's interesting, I sent literally the same thing and no dice. Written confirmation in email also saying they won't honour it. At least someone got lucky with it.

          • @MeatyOne: damn, maybe got hammered and told not to match any more, unfortunate. i think someone else in this thread reported success a while back too.
still good price with mycar but maybe check out reviews of local outlet first. i know one near my work is OK but 2 others have lost centre caps, overtightened nuts, and generally been crappy followup

              Hi XXX,

If you find an identical, locally stocked, delivered and fully fitted tyre for less at any of our competitors we can price match. Mycar must be showing stock available and have fitting available within the next week for us to match.
              Warm Regards,

        • Lucky you! I'm trying my luck one more time (this time via email)

  • No dice on my size. 235/60 17

  • +1

So apparently there are no Pirelli tyres available (maybe just the size I am after). I ordered some through Bob Jane online and then the local guy rang to say they cannot get them at all. All gone for 3 months.

Not sure if it applies to MyCar or not, but a heads up.

  • I'm in to their website but no Pirellis for my i20N available. Kumho and Continental available but cheaper at Bob Janes.

No deal this year for me.

  • +1

I'd say Bob Jane and MyCar use the same suppliers. No Stock for Pirelli Scorpion Verde (all variants) in 255/40/20.

    • +1

Thats what I got as well, available online but then the local called and said, No Stock.

  • Is it worth cancelling my order and going with Yokohama's from Bob Jane for about $60 more? can get fitment tomorrow 215/55/17 size

    • That will depend on what model tyre so you have to research yourself. Some yokohamas are worse, some can be better.

    • If you're looking at the BluEarth Yoko in that size that are 35% off (i.e. the $60 more), there aren't any in Australia apparently. I ordered some for fitting but they rang me and said they don't have them after taking the deposit and there aren't any in Australia. Rang Tyresales to see if they could Price Match the Yoko price and they confirmed that they are unable to get them too. Seems all these tyre places are running awesome deals on tyres they're unable to stock. Almost bait and switchy.

      • Yep, Bob Jane site says fitment available when going through their website checkout so called my local store and not a single tyre in stock.

        • Yeah they rang me and then tried to 'offer' me a deal on the Michellins which worked out nearly $400 more. I was like, nah, just give me a refund then they offered me a decent enough deal on some other tyres that worked out to the same price so I just took them.

  • +1

Waited 30 mins as there 4000 people on the site ahead of me.. and tyres were out of stock for me :(

  • How to get the $100 discount on logbook service? I added both but there is no $100 discount?

    • ok, looks like it's only available after the tyres have been fitted.

    • Those will be mentioned on invoice after your tyre chance.

  • The FOMO is strong with this one. The couple sets of tyres I've compared with Bob Jane are about $20-50 more than my car and less stress with the ordering.

  • Anyone used Powergy's? Looking at some for the XR6. Been using Ozbargain's other favourite tyres (Bridgestone RE003). Are these comparable?

    • +1

Powergys are probably more daily driver focused then the likes of the RE003's, Pirellis Cinturato P7s are probably closer to them. I've had the Powergys on a couple of cars and they're solid, just not more performance oriented like you might prefer on an XR6 (depending on how you drive), great for the price though.

My Tyres already arrived, heading to the store later on the evening

Tyres already arrived and installation happening shortly….

So you don't have to wait to Jan?

    • installing from somewhere else?

    website is shagged

  • I've previously used MyCar for servicing and had no problem.
However they're now on my shonky list due to a promo from Linkt (beloved toll road operator).
The promo was for some attractive % of log book servicing via their link. I got a quote.
Then I used another browser and did the same quote without the discount… It was much cheaper. I didn't use either quote. I just go to my local no name guy, straight shooter, gives me options, runs a local business so has a reputation to uphold.

Booking.com are really bad for this too.

  • +4

After their web site kept crashing or freezing all the time and the number of times I got to the end to pay and failed, then I could not get the Credit Card screen, only afterpay which I don't have.

I gave up and went to my nearest BJ tyre store. I not only got a set of 4 Pirelli Tyres cheaper than Mycar as BJ has them at a lower retail price but also got a discounted wheel alignment. Booked in for next week and not next year. Very happy

    • Good one. It took me about half an hour on website, and payment went through fine on CC. The earliest date available was 6th Jan, so i booked it but after that called local store if they could do early. Staff was really good, they booked me in for today, and tyres already changed. No point waiting for weeks for sure.

    • Bob Jane only have 18" Pirelli's and above in their BF sale

My Car are out of certain sizes now btw

      • Sneaky Bob Jane. When I got my 4 tyres from them 2 weeks ago, they had 40% off on all sizes, then 2 days later they reduced to 35% off. Now they have 40% off again but only for 18" or bigger sizes.

        • During their black fri promo with the 40% off, per tyre was 411. I just checked their price today and they drop it to 385 per tyre.

          • @terroz: Interesting. The Pirelli Scorpion AT+ 265/65R18 tyre was $484 (before 40% off) during the Black Friday promo, but now it is $485.

  • I’ve gotten a booking confirmation but no invoice/ proof of what I actually purchased and paid. I had taken screenshots after payment luckily. But has anyone received or not received an invoice to their email address?

    • same, received a booking confirmation.
it's only bookable online, I'm not too worried, it will be in our bank statement anyway

  • ‘We’re assigned a certain amount of stock from the manufacturer and once that’s sold out, we can’t offer that price anymore’ - was it a whole 100 tyres?

Tried 3 sizes for 3 cars and all sold out after waiting 30 mins to speak to someone to tell me how great Viking tyres are and comparable for the same price.

  • Got my tyres, originally when booking via website earliest was January but my local mycar store just called and said your tyres are in. Getting them fitted in the morning.

  • They rang me at lunch time and told me my tyres were in, they are fitting them now.

  • So do we wait for them to call or do I enquire with local store now before January? My booking was showing as early January.

    • I got a call from them today.
My booking is for Feb 15th (latest day I could choose) but he said they had come in early and I could book fitting if I wanted this weekend. I said I can't because I'm still waiting for my new car to arrive. He said no probs, just call to book in when it arrives and they'll keep my tyres stored until I'm ready.

  • Second time I bought Pirelli tyres from mycar, and twice they've screwed me around. This time they called to say tyres are in and booked me in this week to have them fitted. I rocked up on the day, and they didn't have my rescheduled booking. I said forget it, I'll wait til Jan to fit it. Bloody retarted

    • +1

Still better than my friends experiance, they only fitted him 3 tyres and an allignment. He will have to go back to fit the 4th one
