Introduction to moi.

Hiya,

I'm a retired gent with more sense than money, hence my interest in this site.

I've already posted a reply in the thread about the Whirlpool forum, because I couldn't resist adding my comments about that (cough) "internet forum"…

Anyway, nice to be here and I hope it's as good as it appears to be.

Cheers.

Is this the new moi too movement?

    • +1

      Thanks for asking. Cheers.

    • look at moi

Haha, no, no way! The username "Moi" was taken, so I made it "Moi 2". But then I thought "Moi Too" sounded more natural.

    Welcome aboard!

Banned from Whirlpool by any chance?

    • Yep, banned. Or put "in the penalty box" or something. Obviously the mod's attempt to sound like good old guys who use common vernacular.

      • +3

Best of luck avoiding Ozbargain's penalty box!

        • +2

From someone who’s spent a fair bit of time in the penalty box, I just call people “penalty box words” instead of the actual word. Keeps me a free man lol.

        • Ozbargain does seem to be more tolerant of diverse opinions. But if you think Whirlpool is bad, try Reddit :-)

Of course it helps there is no "In The News" section here :-)

          • @bargaino: Thing is, I never even used Penalty Box words when I was there. Never got up anyone, never posted anything over-the-top, was always more moderate than any moderator. But when I noticed that some of my posts vanished for no apparent reason, I asked about it. Politely.

Even my most polite enquiry was treated with a certain trace of hostility, even disdain, which took me aback. When I queried the reply, I got an even more hostile response. So, yeah, I got angry. And that was the end of that.

            Not impressed.

Haven't joined Reddit. Some of the posts I've seen don't strike me as all that mature.

      • Kek welcome to the party

        • Thanks.

    A reply to a 5 year old comment…🤣

Yeah. Better late than never. :)

Random question, How do you pronounce OzBargain?

    • Start a separate thread and poll please.

    • +1

      "Oh Zee Bargain"

      • Thanks, I've been saying Oozy Bargain.

Make sure you get into the habit of negging logical comments.

And we demand ms paint diagrams for anything involving vehicle damage, road rage, cycling mishaps…. basically anything which moves.

    Welcome aboard.

    • Oh and any posts about car crashes are ALWAYS the OPs fault and ALWAYS avoidable. No matter what the situation, it's ALWAYS avoidable to the professional drivers of OzBargain.

    • Haha, I'll keep that in mind. :)

Welcome aboard. This post should have [AMA] in the title.

    I'll go first:
Why do you hate Elon Musk?

  • Hehe, actually I don't hate Elon Musk. I'm a bit of a science nerd.

    • +1

      I don't hate Elon Musk. I'm a bit of a science nerd.

98.3% of science nerds hate Elon Musk.

      • elon musk is not a scientist nor an engineer

        • Okay then, I don't hate him because I'm a bit of a non-person-hating nerd.

(Actually, that's not true. I hate plenty of people; just not Elon Musk. And that's because I have no personal reason to hate him.)

        • the University of Pennsylvania award him – a Bachelor of Arts in physics and a Bachelor of Science in economics.

Seems like a very mixed up campus…

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elon_Musk#Early_life_and_educa…

  • Really? Then I must be in the 1.7% that don't hate him.

I probably should have said I'm a Space nerd.

    • We've done them a bit out of order - we're meant to ask these two before the Elon Musk question:

Why do you hate SpaceX and/or Tesla?

      • Ahaa, this is an OzBargain thing.

I'm a bit out of touch, obviously.

So, what's the object of this game? Trying to see if new members are easily triggered? Ask me my opinion of American politics, if you want to see a triggering.

No, on second thought, don't ask me. :)

        • Trump is a honorable man who is deeply religious and a family man.

          okay your move

  • On third thought, don't ask me.

    Hehe.

No seriously, talking about American politics is bad for your blood pressure. Geez, even thinking about it is unhealthy!
