    • Mine has still not tracked

  • Has anyone got an email saying "Your cashback has been tracked from Optus Postpaid Mobile" though it's been tracked. But the cashback is for "$320 – 365 day Prepaid SIM $100".
    Postpaid vs Prepaid
Not sure will this affect that for them to honor it or not.

When searching for Optus on the Cashrewards app, there are two options: Prepaid SIM and Postpaid Mobile. It appears that you may have selected Postpaid Mobile but purchased a Prepaid SIM. I am unsure if Cashrewards will honor this transaction.

      • +1

Thanks for reply. Just double check, interesting thing is both of them got the "$320 – 365 day Prepaid SIM $100". The one I activated actually it's poped up from Chrome extensions and I didn't pay attention there are prepaid and postpaid entries.

        • I did this last week when it was upsized and noticed the same thing. It tracked so I'm going to assume all gone - it's the error on their end anyway as I used the extension.

          • @braker: same boat, I actiavted from extension and didn't notice they got two categories. But the "$320 – 365 day Prepaid SIM $100" rate is in both categories. Hope they will honor it, otherwise it's really tricky. I may email them and see how is going.

  • Bugger bought it last night but could have combined with ANZ Plus promo to get it for $70

  • Can someone confirm if I could buy this sim with my Cashrewards account but use the sim to port someone else mobile number? I want to buy it for my sister to use and save the $100 cashback.

    • Sure you can.
Cashrewards has nothing to do with either porting or signing up a new number.

      • Yeah but it's the Optus side and not on Cashrewards. When you buy from Boost/Amaysim you log into the Boost/Amaysim account and the new sim is then linked to your personal profile. As I am buying this for my sister, I don't want it to be linked to my profile and only I could use it.

        • +1

Optus doesn’t care about it how you use it.
Unlike Amaysim it does not arrive pre activated under your account.
I have bought Boost with my account and then activated them with my fam accounts. No dramas and still earned some cashback easy as.
You can buy this sim without login into Optus account, just provide the email and phone number for delivery. Once it has arrived, you can activate that under your sister’s profile.

Just make sure you are doing the cashrewards part correctly. Take screenshots etc 😬

Happy to be corrected by others but this is what I have been doing without any issues.
          Cheers

          • @Smokey010: Cheers, that's all I needed to know if I could buy this without logging into my account and thus getting it linked to my profile.

        • When you buy from Boost/Amaysim you log into the Boost/Amaysim account and the new sim is then linked to your personal profile.

You can also log into someone else's amaysim account to buy them.

          • @CodeXD: I did that a few times but cashback never tracks for me. For example, using my CR account and log into my wife's Amaysim account but it didn't track for the $10 cashback.

  • Just got my "Your cashback has been tracked from Optus Prepaid SIM" after about 5 minutes…..
Now to wait months to hope that it is approved and honoured….

Did everyone get email confirmation of their order? I got nothing at all and no cashback tracking. Paid for it though!

    • I ordered through the Cashrewards app and haven’t received an email confirmation after an hour.
(Did get an immediate email from Optus.)

    • I ordered last night and got the Optus order confirmation pretty quickly and the tracking email 8 minutes later.

Ordered via a fresh Chrome install on PC.

  • +1

Purchased last night but no cashback tracking, will have to do a manual claim after the 7 days I guess, bugger.

  • +1

No cash back tracking for me either, purchased last night. Used the Chrome extension. Will have to lodge a claim..

  • Does anyone know/have tried whether this stacks with the ANZ Plus bonus CB offer?

  • +1

Thanks OP. Tracked within minutes. Done on phone through CR app.

  • No tracked notification here. Ordered yesterday, nothing has been confirmed.

  • I have purchased the plan from my Cashrewards Apps on my iPhone and got both the order confirmation email from Optus and also cashback tracking email from Cashrewards. So, I would recommend using the apps for ordering the plan to avoid claiming issue.

    • Used the app & still only got the Optus confirmation.

    • +1

Damn, used browser but haven’t got cash rewards email tracking yet. Might have to submit a claim after 7 days, hopefully not.

      • +1

same here, and they watch them come up with so many excuses to deny the cashback

  • Can we buy multiple sims but under different transactions?

  • Thanks OP, bought 2 separately through the app and both got tracked within 5 minutes.

  • Bought 2 successfully tracked. Tried to purchase another one but got blocked by Optus due to some sort of fraud protection mechanism. They told me to try again in 24hrs.

    • Were you able to order more after 24 hours? I ordered 2 and tried to order 1 more and got blocked too. Called Optus and they are clueless.

Hi guys, I used to use Optus but it expired a long time ago. I am using Boost atm, will I be considered a new customer if I activate with the same details as I used before?

  • Thanks all. Also purchased via app and received tracking email a few mins later.

  • Waiting for Boost counter offer. I'm 1gb away from porting.

  • Thanks OP purchased 45min ago, the only option showing for me was postpaid mobile but that includes the cashback for prepaid SIM so hopefully will track.

If I am currently with Optus and I port out to say Lebara and port back, will this be fine?

    • I am planning for the same. I am on Optus postpaid.

    • Did you try this? Did it work? I’m on an Optus post paid and am gonna try this if it’s possible, otherwise I guess I do amaysim or something.

  • What’s with this credit card protection ? Can’t charge or payment not going through :(

  • Can anyone explain what does ''Cashback is eligible on new sign ups only'' mean? Does it mean Cashreward new member?

  • Really really want to buy this but my Kogan plan expires 28 April, and can't find the confirmed answer for cashback for later activation

    • Same here, looking at the Cashreward site it does not mention any terms regarding activation date, which i assume the cashback would be fine with or without even activating the sim card.
On the other hand, what I am more keen to know is whether Optus would allow people to activate the sim card later (say some time next year, as my current plan expires July 2025“`)

      • I think you can take your sim card to nearby Optus store and swap for another one.

      • Not sure in practice whether Optus enforce anything but in the terms and conditions of the plan it says “Activate within 30 days of purchase or by date advertised (whichever is earlier) to receive advertised inclusions”

        • Yeah but that doesn't mean the sim needs to be activated within a certain time frame. I'm guessing it will be ok for 1 year after purchase.

  • Can I port straight from Anaysim or should I do a quick port to a non Optus network in between?

  • International roaming on Optus would need you to pay $5 a day elsewhere you can only receive free SMS but no incoming calls and outgoing calls+SMS. Not a problem unless you need any of the above. Hopefully authentication codes you can still receive.

  • just purchased this, cashback tracked almost instantly, confirmed via an email,

  • Ordered one via cashrewards app, not tracked

    • Cashback tracked after 10-15mins. Received email

  • What is a “new sign up” Cashrewards ???

if I have 2 existing boost sims, and sign up a new Optus sim (x2, separate times) via this deal, and then port boost to Optus when activating sim after I get it, does this = “new sign up” each time, do you think?

  • bought 2, tracking straight away, buying a third and keep getting a message about a technical error has occurred, try again later error about. Tried different devices, cards and email addresses

    • +1

It's some sort of fraud prevention mechanism from Optus (or their payment processing provider). I tried again after 24hrs and it worked.

      • just tried again, the message stated it was due to multiple transaction from this account. Try again tomorrow

  • Optus CS confirmed that I cannot receive SMS or calls while being overseas without a $5 a day roaming package. Can someone pls help confirm if this is actually true from experience

This is such a disappointment for someone like me who wants to just receive 2FA codes or occasional calls while overseas for 6-8 weeks.

    • +1

That's what Optus reps always say. Just got back from a holiday and can confirm that you can still receive sms as long as your roaming data is off. Once your data roaming is on, or you make a call, then you will need to pay $5 for 24 hours access

      • @cynical17 thanks mate, can you receive calls from Aus while data roaming is off.

        • +3

Sorry I didn't notice. Anyone that wanted to contact me, contacted me through whatsapp or similar. I can confirm I received SMSs because I was receiving OTPs

        • +1

Yes can receive calls and sms while data roaming is off. Currently am overseas and am receiving both without paying $5 a day.

          • @xotic: Are you in the 110+ destinations they list, just to confirm mate.

      • @cynical17 & @xotic, to be able to receive SMS free on this….we need to enable roaming on our optus plan however to avoid accidental roaming costs disable the mobile data usage and avoid doing SMS/calls using the optus sim correct?

        • Roaming should be automatic. In the past you had to enable it within the Optus app. You don't need to do this anymore.
Yes correct, disable mobile data roaming on your phone and avoid sending sms/calls

  • Great deal, thanks!

  • Bought 1 on 23/11/2024 8:50am, but no tracking yet. Anyone in the same boat ?

  • same, bought half hour ago but haven't received any tracking yet.

    • Mine was tracked now.

  • +2

CR T&C didn’t specify activation is required for the cashback. I am aware that Boost Mobile SIM needs to be activated within 30 days. Can anyone confirm Optus cashback doesn’t require the SIM to be activated? Or how long it needs to be activated?

    • Good point, would love clarification on this

  • I am thinking about taking this deal but am a little confused about what the "new signup only" implies for the cashback component. I have Optus post paid account which I'm keeping however would like to get this Sim for my kid (so new number) does that count as new signup?

    • Yes I think, as long its a new number for your kid.

      • Thank you, appreciated.

  • Do I take a punt? my wife Voda sim still have 4 month on it.

From comment so far cashback will come through but risk Optus changing the offer for the sim.

$120 for 280G with internation call on Optus network seems too good to miss right?

  • Anybody else get to the 'Payment Details' screen and it's blank with nowhere to enter the info?

    using google chrome

    • Getting this on firefox too, did you find a fix?

EDIT: works on android firefox, weird.

  • Anyone got their sim? How many days from order?

    • +1

Ordered on 20th, Dispatched on 22nd and Received today in Melbourne.

Be aware, the term " New sign up" only is for those who has to a new member for cashreward, not existing members?

    • Have you confirmed this with CR? Because I'm pretty sure there are some existing members on here that are saying they it's tracked. 🤷‍♂️

  • Does Optus prepaid have visual voicemail for iPhones?

  • Purchased and cashback tracked in 6 mins. Worth it for me as was paying double this with MORE. Also will take advantage of 12$ optus sport

    • You're not a 'new' member to CashRewards are you?
      Re: This comment…

Be aware, the term " New sign up" only is for those who has to a new member for cashreward, not existing members?

      • Yeah I signed up to CashRewards that day..

  • Anyone received cash back? My Cashrewards account does not show this reward in Reward activity. it is 6days after purchased already.

    • Got tracked in under 5 min after placing the order

  • Anyone having issue to port in your number to this Optus card using the online activation page? Directed me to message help for manual process and then tell me to call customer service.

  • Has anyone actually get paid in the past from CR for this optus sim?
A lot of comments in this thread are not encouraging me to purchase one. I need one for the in law and it is either this or the up coming coles mobile 200GB deal for $159. Any advise?

  • Do we have confirmation on if this can be activated in 2 or 3 month? And if Cashrewards will be ok with delayed activation? Ta

  • So I actually go on chat and the rep told me I have to activate with in 30 days, not sure how much of that is correct as I don't see how a retail prepaid sim is require to activate within 30 days?

  • Just activated my optus prepaid with no issues on the browser. Under 5 min porting process completed and number got activated.
On the sim card pack it written to be activate within 30 days from the purchase date to receive advertised promotions/inclusions.
Expiry date on the Sim card is 23/5/26

Bought on Friday 22nd but not yet receive cashback not even tracked yet.

    • Most of our purchases got tracked within 5 minutes. Probably try to cancel your purchase by calling Optus and then make a fresh purchase.

      • You're not a 'new' member to CashRewards are you?
