Great deal for the S9 Ultra. Awesome tablet which I paid a lot more for last year than this :(

tempted with the s9 ultra, but its just so big 😅

      That's what she said

Not too late to find a bigger wife

    • Yeah no kidding unless you gotta use it on your desk all the time which kinda beats the purpose of a portable handheld tablet. Might as well get an ultrabook/mba.

I was contemplating to get it last time, but ultimately decided to get the 12.4” s9 plus which still feels too oversized at times, but more suitable for holding by hand for an extended period.

1k for the s9 ultra is a great deal though. Especially when the s10 ultra is barely an upgrade.

  • Nice price for ultra. Might Snatch it tomorrow.

Hope you have an exit strategy and don't forget your mask ;-)

  • I can't find any info on the Edge Neo deal. Is someone able to point me in the right direction? Thanks

    • It starts tomorrow in store, or later today for early access exclusive to Perks members

The sound bar any good? Any recommendations for soundbar for around $500 ish mark?

    • -1

      f

    • A lot of caveats with no HDMI but it works well for me. I use the google chromecast remote to control volume. Massive upgrade from TV speakers and you get all the connectivity that comes with sonos gear.

      • Does the soundbar turn on and off with the TV though? Thanks

        • Yeah, I don't even use my TV remote but it'd be the same. The google chromecast remote turns on the TV using hdmi and then the Ray turns on when it detects the optical connection. It'll also auto switch from playing music to the TV source. It's never really off.

          • @Ozzy Ozbargain: Great, thanks. I was under the incorrect impression wihtout HDMI it would operate indepentley, requiring separate power on and off, plus volume. I supposed even without chromecast, the soundbar would still rely on optical signal for volume too.

I like this unit's size. Only needs to service my bedroom space so.

            • @dainese: Sorry the volume doesn't work over optical, it uses IR. So you need an IR remote, and the Ray figures out during setup which IR commands are volume up, down and mute. I changed a setting on my TV when setting the output to optical for it to disable its own audio and volume controls. Works well.

  • I think its the s8 ultra not the s9?

  • Will Officeworks price match this?

    • also interested to know, want to grab the s9 but jb seems to only have them available for delivery

  • Can I say 'Hey Google play Spotify on the soundbar?' to my nest hub and the soundbar will start playing music?

It would be connected to my TV but I want to just play music separately with the TV off

  • You can set up defaults in your nest hub settings.
ie when i ask to play a music video it plays on a certain tv, and when i ask for music it plays on a certain speaker.

  • Any deals on just the S9 or S8? The ultra screen size is just too big.

  • I have got a Samsung S8 Ultra which is working fine. Will S9 Ultra be a worhwhile upgrade?

    • From what I can tell. It's a nice spec bump. Bit faster, bit more powerful, bit longer battery life. Nothing huge, but still a bigger jump than what the s9>s10 was.

It's got a slightly different shape though so your s8 ultra cases wont be forwards compatible.

    • +2

No definitely not, they are basically the same tablet with the exact same size screen and battery. The main difference is that the S9 Ultra is waterproof but the S8 isn't. However, had I known about the S9 dropping in price so fast I wouldn't have bought the S8 Ultra Tab in August for $1007 delivered! It's perfect for replacing A4 paper as it's the same size. That way you can do everything you normally do on paper, paperless.

      • I've been waiting for this s9 ultra deal and it's perfect. Gonna use it for digital art.

    Sonos Ray Soundbar specs:
    "For TVs up to 55"

Why does the size of the TV matter?
    No good for 80" TV?

    • +1

Probably because it's shit and people buying larger TVs likely expect higher quality or have larger rooms which this soundbar won't be able to do well.
You're better off buying https://www.harveynorman.com.au/samsung-hw-c400-c-series-sou… for $125 and saving some money… At least then you'll have some bass though there's much better options with a $250 budget.

      • Which soundbars would you recommend if I am happy to spend the extra $$$ please? Would be both for TV and music listening.

        • Honestly I'm not sure but at that price range you probably need a dedicated sub to get decent audio. It will also depend a lot on what features you are after.
I just quickly checked, I think these are slightly better but you'd probably want to do more research first:
          Hisense HS2100 - $165
          LG S40T - $181
          JBL SB550 - $187
          Hisense HS3100 - $240
If you absolutely don't want a sub I think spending an extra $75 on:
          Samsung HWS60DXY - $325

          • @AreYouAWiiizard: Thank you.I am happy to add a sub and am sure that will provide much bigger/better sound quality options.

    • Bigger TV means bigger room and wider sound stage would be preferable

  • "or later today for early access exclusive to Perks members"

Does that mean can purchase online if a Perks member? Or only in-store?

  • Anyone with non Samsung experience
Im upgrading from an S21 5G
But seeing this Moto Neo and Nothing 2a 256 models. Which one is the better buy?

  • This or Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2025?

  • Anyone know what time this goes live?

  • +1

    Already started for Perks

    • I can't see it for Perks. Link?

      • Log in to JB. Then look up item. Worked for me.

    • Thank you! Impulse bought the tab s9

The ipad 64gb is <$500 on amazon etc - am thinking of getting a tablet which I would use for study and watching youtube.
Would it be overkill to get the samsung?

    • For just those two things. Yeah.

But also, the question you have to ask yourself first is what size do you want. Smaller is better for handbook style usage, bigger is better for propping up on a table and watching stuff. Totally helps to know what you're going to use it for so that's good.

Both Samsung and Apple are good for studying (there are so many models in both ecosystems not specifically these two). Both will support mice, keyboards and pens. Dollar for dollar Samsung will give you better value if budget is a big concern, with better specs and the fact the pen is included with most models. And both are great for media consumption, although you have to pay lots of money for oled with a ipad pro compared to amoled on most samsungs, even the lower models. Again that's more of a budget thing.

  • Thanks, got the ultra. Been eying off tablets for a while and this price seemed too good to pass up.

  • the s9 ultra CPU is only Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 I thought it should be Gen 3

    • The tablets are like 9 months behind the phones. Tab S10 just released with sd8 gen 3. Tab s11 range will have the elite chips.

      • +1

S10 series use a Mediatek cpu

        • Thanks for the correction! I didn't realise Samsung was cost cutting which is a shame

          • +1

@Caped Baldy: There is no shame. MediaTek 9300+ is a serious competitor to Qualcomm, and we'll likely see more OEMs go down that path as many are reportedly unhappy with Qualcomm and have been for a long time. Google started their partnership with Samsung and now TMSC for Tensor directly due to how much they don't like Qualcomm, for example.

            • @BradH13: I'm aware mediatek is good these days but one of my interests is emulation and the support isn't great.

  • Sonos Ray or echo studio for $259?

  • Just ordered one, thanks OP

Needed a tablet to set up in car when offroading for navigation, wanted s9+ but i guess i will somehow make the ultra work

  • Has anyone used the soundbar for pc? i've got a set of speakers already but due to my monitor configuration one of the speakers is hidden behind one monitior

  • Found only graphite color is on sale… not beige.

  • Timing is everything… I'm out of the country and the JB system prevents purchases from OS or by using a VPN. Anyone got any ideas?

  • Amazon have matched the price on the Tab S9 ultra, handy if you managed to grab the 10% off Amazon gift cards

  • Those S9 Ultras aren't selling out as fast as I thought they would.

I guess people are finding that they are too big to actually be practical.

  • I missed the Tab S9 Ultra. It appears to be oos in my area (Melbourne). Anyone has an idea how I can get a hold of one for $999?

  • Those who got the Ultra: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/881379

    Half price case.
