Full power seems to be 1000W.

What is it? A microwave for ants?!?

      • +2

Not sure what your'e trying to say. If you Google 'typical home microwave watt' you'll see '600-1000W'. It's already among the high watt ones.

        • Exactly. Microwaves are an anomaly when it comes to listing appliance wattage. While most appliances list the highest number possible, they're stating the input wattage. Microwaves for some unknown reason list output wattage. In this case the input is 1500W for the maximum 1000W output, suggesting a not so great 33% inefficient power loss. However the fact that you can select lower power settings mean it's possible to manage electricity consumption, such as available solar on a cloudy day, at a lower rate at the cost of time.
Also, microwaves at high heat, in my experience, want to heat the vessel rather than the contents, so lower and slower is the way to go for me.

          • +1

@ohgee: Lower and slower is what she said too

          • +2

@ohgee: Microwaves list output wattage because ovens do. It's about cooking power not electricity consumption.

1000W is actually quite high, average microwave would be 800W. This is more likely to ruin your food on standard settings, meaning you have to constantly lower the power. I don't see it as an advantage at all

          • @ohgee: That's largely about correctly loading the dishes for a microwave. You want to add a splash of water because water conducts microwave rays really well, heats up and will help to heat anything it touches, and arrange the food so it isn't too thick and generally with gaps in the middle. It'll function optimally with food arranged like a donut or waffle. Or I guess you could just eat a diet exclusively of donuts and waffles.

If you just load up a bowl, there's a very realistic chance that the bowl itself is a better conductor than the food you're trying to heat and the rays aren't adequately able to fully penetrate the loaded up food.

  • Any feedback ?

    • My wifi drops out when cooking

    • Needed an update when I plugged it in and I think it downloaded the wrong file because now it thinks its a toaster

  • I have one of this before, cockroaches are attracted to the LED panel, and stuck inside. No idea how to get those out….

    • This is no good!

    • same. i have a different model but these buggers sure love to get comfy in the LED. its disgusting and i think its a common problem with all sort of microwave.

      • its probably the heat

      • -3

Um maybe clean your house, then roaches wont come around.

        • i have the pest spray every 6 months, clean the house regularly, have baits everywhere in the kitchen and yet they still come. they're in the pipeline. its not just simply as clean the house :/

  • Can you set per second increments on this?

    • +1

Yes, but only in 10 second increment. I have this model, and it takes twice as long to cook compared to my old Sharp 32L flatbed. The good thing is that it defrosts meat without overcooking it, and unlike the flatbed one, it doesn’t keep making noise to cool down after finishing.

      • Why did you replace the Sharp? I've always known them to be one of the best microwave brands

        • +2

It stopped heating after just over a year.

      • Oh damn 10 sec is too much for me 😆

        • You can press Stop or open the door anytime. I'm curious what do you heat in the microwave that needs to be timed to the exact second?

          • @jimojr: for medical stuff like heat masks, water for rinsing etc. It's handy to have a set time in mind so I don't have to wait to cool it down if that makes sense.

  • has anyone experienced “-SE-“ error with their Samsung microwave?
mine got this error last week and I couldn’t get the microwave to work at all. I have tried to power off for days and turn it back on to only get the same error.

If anyone got some suggestions, please share. Thanks

I'm tempted to try it, if not only to test out the world's first microwave which breaches the space / time continuum…

          Kmart Anko 28L Microwave P90J30AP-F1
          29 L usable volume

I'm genuinely fascinated to see how they manage that…
