I've been on the lookout for a thunderbolt hub to expand the number of ports (only two!) on my MacBook Pro M3 14". Grab one of these while it's on sale.

  • ALL ESSENTIAL PORTS - Thunderbolt 4 Upstream Host Port with 60W Power Delivery and USB 3.2 Gen 2 with up to 10 Gbps data transfer and 900mA downstream charging at the front, and 3 Thunderbolt 4 Downstream Ports with up to 15W charging and up to 40 Gbps data transfer at back.
  • 3 THUNDERBOLT 4 PORTS - The Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub features 3 Thunderbolt 4 downstream ports that support 15W charging, 40Gbps data transfer speed, and (2x) 4K at 60Hz or (1x) 8K at 30Hz or (1x) 6K on Mac. Note: Only one external monitor supported on Macs with an M1/M2 chip.
  • COMPATIBLE WITH - Works with Windows 11/10 laptops equipped with a Thunderbolt 4 port (Intel Evo Platform), and MacBooks running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later.
  • HEAT REGULATED - When charging or transferring data the Thunderbolt 4 Hub may get warm but will efficiently dissipate the heat. Standard operating temperatures are 86-122° Fahrenheit
  • WHAT’S INCLUDED - Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub 5-in-1, 100W Power Adapter, C5 Power Cable, 2.6 ft Thunderbolt 4 Cable, User Manual, 1 Year Warranty & Customer Support.

Still $178.20 and ewh 60 watts only. For a hub that much it should be 90-100 watts.

    • My $30 Anker hub does 85w.

You might be just fine with something like this for 15$
    USB C Hub, NOVOO USB Type C Hub… https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B075FQY5BN

I have this at work. It is useful if you want to connect 2 x 4k 60p monitors and an external disk to your Macbook with one cable. For this it works ok and has been reliable. The power supply wattage is too low though to power the laptop under load though and you get battery discharge (still works though)

It might be better to buy a HP or Lenovo dock that does the same but has higher power delivery. However, if you are on Mac i am not sure how compatible they are compared to this
