Nearly perfect… But low resolution screen.

    • Wish you can build it to add screen and battery size

      • Display: 16" 2K (2048 x 1280), OLED, Glare, Non-Touch, HDR 500, 100%DCI-P3, 400 nits, 120Hz
        https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/configurator/cto/index.html?bun… - $1,348.00

and you can choose Battery: 4 Cell Li-Polymer 76Wh for $10 extra

        • oh yeah once i went to shop and see the differences on OLED screens even on smaller sizes like 14", makes my old eyes feel young again !!!

    • +1

1200p on a 14" is pretty ok imo, but yeh, would've been nice to see 1800p like on the 16"

      • The 16" (2048 x 1280) version would be 1280p and not 1800p (or 1080p if a typo), although 1280p is not a standard term used, it's technically closer to 2K resolution as they've described in the listing.

Even then, true 2K is considered 17:9, with laptops and desktop screens being 16:9 / 16:10, they've adopted the term 2K as its the most closest suited term and easier to be marketed.

      • Would have been nice to be comparable to MacBook display

    • +6

      1920x1200 at 14” is 163 PPI - the same pixel density as a 4K 27” monitor.

      • -1

Not comparable to a MacBook resolution

        • +1

True and granted that you’re more likely to sit closer to a laptop screen than a desktop monitor, but the point is that you can’t go off resolution alone.

          • @skittlebrau: I just wanted a MacBook replacement at a reasonable price.

This nearly ticked all the boxes.

    • also the battery could be bigger IMO.

  • Silently waiting for HX 370 deals.

Someone missed the officeworks price error

      • I think a lot of people missed that deal.

In case there a people in here that got that deal, how is the heat during normal usage? Been hearing reports of the machine being hot.

        • +1

I heard it is as hot currently as the M4 Max Macbook Pro with 64GB Ram and 4TB SSD. But Lenovo I think will have better resale value in 5-8 years because it runs Windows which more people like then Mac's.

        • I resold my 2 units but it looked like a nice lappy

Is this or a ThinkPad E series a better build?

    • +1

I think the Thinkpad E is sturdier, but screen is horrible with 45% NTSC

  • +2

    Only takes 2242 M.2s?
    Why such a dumb limitation.

  • Whats been the best laptop deal in the past 30x days?

  • Any thoughts if the cashback providers will be offering a sweet bonus cashback on lenovo for black friday? I remember last year they did 20% uncapped.

Thanks, just bought! Also got an extra $66.90 discount with the honey code LAT5 (I'd added all the SSD and fingerprint upgrades)

    • Thanks OP and thanks @sneezd for the extra LAT5 code.

    $1049 with 16% cashback today

    • Wow… contemplating canceling my order and reordering through my partner's account…

Never used cashback sites before. Which codes did you use on the website to get 16% when you went through topcashback? Just the BFCM24 code or others as well?

On the https://www.topcashback.com.au/lenovo/ site I only see this: Get 4.55% of your purchase back with our Lenovo cashback offers

      • +1

It was only for that day.

      • Shopback has a 13.2% today. Still fairly decent or should we hodl for deeper discount?

    Price drop to $1199

    • Hey mate you seem pretty knowledgable about these things.

I'm considering this laptop and noticed on the Lenovo website they have the IdeaPad Slim 5 in a 13" config, and listed as 10th gen. That means it's a newer model right? It's just a little cheaper (especially the RRP) so that has me confused - is it just the fact it's smaller and less RAM, despite being newer? And I'm probably better off going for the one in OP?

EDIT: Ah, just seen that the CPU is actually older too.
