For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

I won't / wouldn't neg this as, it isn't a bad price, but at the same time I can get a 7600 at a bunch of stores for like, $5 more, and could have it today so.

I'd want more of a discount before I went this route.

On the flipside a 7500F for ~$180 AUD (on ali) for 99% the same performance, that's a deal…

In true OzBargainer fashion if we consider the cashback, i.e. Shopback 15% with a $50 cap you're looking at a further ~A$42.24 back with 7 day shipping.

Of course apply the same cashback on other AMD CPUs for bigger savings.

    • By the benchmarks compared to its next in the line 9700x a decent chip at the right price. In non-gaming you see the equivalent lower performance due to the reduced core / thread count. In gaming though its another story, and makes virtually difference and in some gaming benchmarks scored higher as it has a slightly higher single core speed.

From this series, save up for a x3d or stick with the cheaper 9600X, and put the extra cash into the next tier of GPU cards.

guys! don't buy CPU on aliexpress!!!! must be a scam, the are all fake!!

      a comment from Reddit : "
Are you really asking if buying something expensive from Ali Express is a good idea? There are literally multiple YouTubers that make careers out of being scammed on Ali Express."

    • +9

it's a 15% faster CPU in CPU limited scenarios. 12600K is still a perfectly good chip I would be waiting.

    • +15

Now look up how much extra performance you can get with the new intel CPUs.

      • +6

it will make you feel good about your 12600k ;)

22% faster isn't exactly terrible considering Intel only increased by 9% in gaming (at ~twice the price of this deal)?
For non-gaming multi-threaded workloads yeah it's quite depressing but you can always buy 7000 series instead a whole lot cheaper.

      Cringe

  • Any deals on the 7800x3d ? Have a 7500f atm might upgrade if the price is right.

Edit: Found this one for 550 +gst after code https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006621418223.html

Maybe look for a 9800X3D if you have the chance and see if the extra amount is worth it based on the performance you care about

      • I just assumed the 78x3d would be cheaper no? in terms of performance they're around the same.

        • +4

78x3d and 98x3d are not the same on perf. 98x3d is much better in general and roughly 11% in gaming only scenarios. Price will decide but , unlike the non X3D chips, I would not put = between Zen 4 and Zen 5 parts.
          Coming from and 78x3d owner.

          • @goodwillN1: The 1% lows are massively better with 9800x3d as well. The gaming performance looks incredibly smooth and consistent.

        • 9000x3d is no longer thermal blanketed (vcache is no longer situation on top of the ccd). 7000x3d is trash in comparison to 9000x3d for this one reason alone. Should be able to get x clocks on an x3d chip with the 9000x3d cache placement.

  • Any good 9900x or 9950x deal??

  • Any benefits paying with Wise in USD instead of Paypal?

  • The 8400F is also cheap at $~140 https://aliexpress.com/item/1005007791314209.html
Good for non gaming or as a "temporary" CPU

Whats the latest cpu for AM4, I'm still on 3600 and looking to upgrade cpu but keep mobo.

    • +4

If gaming 5700X3D or 5800X3D if you can find the latter one.

    • +3

I upgraded from a 3600 to a 5700x3D in one of the many deals posted here and it was a massive improvement; easiest bang for buck upgrade I've done in years. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/5700X3D

The cheapest price on Ali is currently pretty consistent with those deals, and the chips are legit. https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-5700x3d.html?g=y&Sear…

      • That's an amazing price for a great chip to extend your am4 lifespan by at least a few years.

I'm on the lookout for a totally new build and I'd go for the 5700x3d if am4 weren't a total dead end.

        • +2

I feel like it’s good enough to upgrade my current 3600 and just keep it for a few years then kids play Fortnite on it, the 3070ti and 5700x3d pair quite well I think.

      • I second this. Got the 5700X3D from Alliexpress, arrived within 7 days and it’s a legit chip. Couldn’t A/B test with my previous 3600 since I sold it but based on my research it’s quite a big jump in gaming performance. After selling the 3600 the total upgrade cost is only around 150 bucks, I say it’s worth it for a drop in solution that will give you at least a couple more years for an existing platform.

Any Apple Mac Mini M4 deals on Aliexpress or Macbook Pro?

    • +2

No this is the wrong platform for that.

      • It sucks Apple doesn't sell on Alexpress. I mean they make the darn Apple Mac right next door. Would be good to get it with Aliexpress discounts and cashback deals.

    • lol

    • +2

No, but there's probably an Appel M5 deal!

  • Being thinking about upgrading my RAM, any thought on this RAM? The price seems too cheap to be true. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006404420344.html?spm=a2…

    • +1

Puskill RAM isn't bad per se but it is slow RAM. 3200MHz CL22 and 2666MHz CL19. Given that they're using sk Hynix flash that's likely lower quality you may have trouble overclocking the RAM to faster timings.

In saying that I use some of their 2666MHz SODIMM RAM in my NAS and it's perfectly fine as faster timings aren't as critical. Gaming would be a different story.
