  • Need good 4tb deals!

    • out of curiosity what's the going rate for a 4tb these days? need to upgrade my games drive from a 1tb and wondering how hard to go

      • +3

NVMe Gen4/5 typically 70-85 AUD / TB for DRAM-less and 100-110 AUD / TB for ones with DRAM. The ones with heatsink included typically 15-20 AUD more. Best deal I saw for good 4TB with DRAM was Kingston KC3000 without heatsink for 299 on Black Friday.

  • yeah 4TB would be nice

  • +3

    Tempting.
but i have no real need.
    i guess i saved $185.97 today

  • Is this PCIe 4.0 x 1?

    • PCIe 4.0 x4

  • Is Kingston Fury 2TB a better choice as it got 2000tbw vs 1200tbw

    • +3

Performance wise, T500 is better. Newer Phison controller, Micron 232L TLC NAND is a better type of NAND chips.

    • they're both in the same ball park in terms of performance, buy it if it has a similar price.

i have a pair of 2TB T500s (raid1) and i've only written 5.3TB of data to each over half a year according to the smart logs, a lot of which would have occurred due to formatting and installation. i don't think TBW is going to be a factor for me. ymmv

  • I'm not too tech savvy. How hard is it to install to this my PS5 for more storage space?

    • Probably watch youTube videos and then decide. OG PS5 might be a bit harder (to avoid scratching the inside of plastic cover). PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro are easier to open the cover.

      • ok pass for me then. Is there any SSD that is easy to install that I should keep an eye out for?

        • +2

You need to open the cover to install the SSD. If you go for DIY heatsink and opt for a "cost effective" one, then installing that heatsink (if you haven't done one before) might take a bit of time to get used to (need to line it up properly). So if you prefer easier install:

          • Get an SSD with heatsink already mounted and make sure the heatsink is PS5 compatible (not too large)
          • Single sided SSD has more margin for error if you opted for DIY heatsink approach (this SSD is single sided SSD).
        • Honestly, just watch some videos and give it a go.

The only slightly annoying part is sliding off the casing because it's hard to gauge how much force to put into it, but after that, it's just as easy as replacing batteries in a baby's toy.

  • I bought this last time, mine says Pro next to it though. I still haven't unboxed it lol.

    • -1

      mine says Pro … lol.

Why is that funny? are you an amateur

  • Delivery in April… 🤣🤣🤣

  • I still have 2 more ssds to replace from my laptop purchase from 2021. I added a crucisl 1tb as the secondary, replaced the 512gb ssd with a wd blue 1tb. Either gunning for 2x 2tbs or I may live dangerously and go for 2x 4tb ssds, thus not needing to worry about space for a while. Did this with my most recent laptop purchase just a few months back. Still have 3tb of space lol.

  • When 8TB NVME's for $200? It's 2025 y'all. We living in the future. We should have had 100TB hard drives by now for $500.

    • username checked out. dream on
