  • So much talk of car company sales down and potential for companies to withdraw from oz. Doesn't make sense.
    Demand for housing is sky-high, and more people are living in their cars now. Shouldn't people be buying up cars and paying more and more ridiculous prices, now that they can be seen as housing?

    • So, combining the house and car, to "save" on electricity bills ?

  • -1

    I woun't trust the chinese NMC battery. LFP should be okay. The mercedes benz fires caused by chinese NMC battery.

    • lol it's a cautionary tale buying an european badge thinking it guarantees quality, the EQE is a 140k car yet they opted to cheap out by buying obscure small scale manufacturer (faransis energy) with a history of faulty batteries

      stick to CATL/BYD LFP batteries if safety is your biggest concern, Australian Model Y has the latter (soon to change to CATL)

      • completely agree.

      • stick to CATL/BYD LFP batteries

        LFP = Lithion Iron Phosphate

        What is CATL/BYD ?

        • +2

          they are the biggest manufacturers of LFP batteries in the world, Tesla uses theirs for their RWD base models

          • @May4th: So, if I am in the market looking for a 2023 Model Y (Long Range or Performance),
            how would I know what battery these cars have ? I mean, if I were to 'avoid' the NMC battery.

            • +1

              @whyisave: The only car which has LFP is the RWD. LR and Performance have NMC batteries.

              • @Heybargain: Thanks for that.

                Well, I can't 'avoid' NMC batteries then, if I were to choose the LR Model Y then.
                ( I have been reading into the cost of tyres for the Performance )
