Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro Home Mesh Wi-Fi 6E System White 3 Pack $319 + Del ($0 to Metro/ OnePass/ C&C/ In-Store) @ Officeworks

500

Officeworks price matches previous Amazon's deal Good luck for those who managed to get from the Bunning's deal for as less as $100.

Personally, I'd grab another pack if OW can make it as good as Bunning's.

Google must be stockpiled with these. Great device nonetheless. Very happy with mine.

  • Has anyone had success setting this up with a modem/router in bridge mode, using an iPhone to do the setup on Google home app? I couldn’t get it to work so I have a double NAT (I believe).

    • +1

Do a what is my ip check online, and compare that IP with the one that the google wifi shows you in the app, that will tell you if you are double NAT'd.

I've used the app to setup these on an iPhone, normally it detects your connection fine (probably is DHCP though).

Personally using TPLink Deco which I felt is must better than this.

    • +2

Killer with Deco devices is the subscription fee if you want more functionality.

      • What extra functionality?

    • +1

Had you used the nest pro? What was better Bout that deco out of interest?

Trying to work out if it's worth the hassle upgrading my 10 year old Asus wifi 5 router 🤔… We've got a pretty big house now and the Asus gives reception for the whole house, just the backyard/pool area gets a bit spotty so a mesh system would probably help with that.

      • Would be a major upgrade from the 10 year old router. Also security improvments

    • plus this one doesn't have a web interface.

    • Funny, I just replaced my Deco's (X20, so not a like for like) with these. The Deco for me was completely unreliable, constant drop outs. I definitely preferred the Deco app though compared with faffing about in Google Home.

  • +1

Does anyone with these experience drop outs or connection issues? Also hows the range? Been thinking about getting these to replace a couple of old Orbi's since I just upgraded to 1000Mb nbn plan.

    • Yep mine drops out all the time. Absolutely frustrating. And when it's working I get less than half the speed 20-40mb. I'm just waiting for black Friday to replace them with something else. But I can confirm that other router brands I've tested recently doesn't drop out and I get my my max Internet speed (250mb). I've heard that many people love the product and don’t have the same issues I do. Could it be that mine are faulty?

Reminder that Google store will price match this - plus get 10% back if you're a 2TB/m Google some subscriber…

    • Wow this is $699 on the Google store - how do you get them to price match it?

      • +3

Open up a live chat with them, send them the Officeworks link. They'll send you an email confirmation, which you reply to after placing the order.

They will then refund you the difference once the item ships!

  • Happy with my telstra gen 2 modem since 2018. Covers whole 4 bed room house with decent speeds.
I'm the only main streamer amoung 3 that uses Netflix on HD plan (720p). Guess this is overkill for average person like me.

  • I have the previous generation of this and the wifi points drop out allllll the time and have to be unplugged and plugged back in. Has anyone had a similar experience? Will this new generation be any better?

    • +1

I have the same and have experienced the same issues, all the time. To the point where I have given up and the house is barely on just the main unit. The other 2 are like FWB who just turn up game on whenever they feel like it. I bought my set at a premium because I thought it would give seamless connectivity with my google devices, but have been so so disappointed.

    • Wow I have the same experience too… Any chance you bought yours from Amazon aka gray stock?

  • how good are these? are they worth it?

    • Depends what you need really. Unless you have a huge house and a gigabit connection it seems expensive overkill to me.

    • for $319 its worth it

  • +1

got this price matched at JB's yesterday. Upgrading from Nest wifi and all its issues. Speed went from 200Mb/s to 900mb/s on a gig connection….awesome and no bridge/NAT doubling up issue.

    • Hey there, how did you negate the bridge/NAT doubling up issue?

      • +1

Seems google wifi pro doesnt even register it - just says "router"- i'v'e got wired backhaul with all three pods and my speed went through the roof (was replacing 2 x Nest Wifi and 3 x google wifi pucks).

Nest wifi showed one pod was NAT mode but i cant see that on the app with the Pro version. Ive had no issues so far (about a day in!)

FTTC, FTTP, HFC, Fixed Wireless = Connect the Google Nest router to the nbn box.

FTTN, FTTB = Configure your VDSL2 modem in bridge mode and connect the Google Nest router.

        • +1

Hey thanks. Yeah when I set this up I spent a whole weekend on the phone with my ISP. Not their fault but they were helping.

          I am FTTB in apartments.

My issue is if I have my modem router in bridge mode then Google home errors when trying to set up. My isp thinks it’s an iPhone issue with the app. It doesn’t let us connect to PPPOE first so when just in bridge mode the Nest won’t connect to the internet.

Been a total nightmare. Currently have it set up connected to modem router not in bridge mode but notice gaming performance has degraded. Feel like I wasted $250 (got from Bunnings sale) and can’t return it (chucked the box).

          • @The Maestro: If you have FTTB you should have an NBN box in your apartment right?
You don't need a modem after the NBN box, in your case the NBN box is the modem
So plug the cable directly from the NBN box to one of the WiFi units

            • @Cazman: nbn FTTB doesn't use an nbn box.

              • +1

@Twix: ah yes my bad sorry, I always get FTTB and FTTC mixed up

          • +1

@The Maestro: Yeah it maybe an app bug.

Is the ethernet cable plugged into the modems LAN port?
            nbn FTTB or TPG FTTB?

            • @Twix: NBN FTTB.

Yes I believe we tried both LAN and WAN ports. Couldn’t get it to work in bridge mode only. Had to be connected but couldn’t have it as PPPOE.

I kind of gave up. It’s working okay now but I can’t say it’s better than what I started with haha.

  • how good is this compared to WAVLINK AX1800 Long Range WiFi ?
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BZKXX2P8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_f…

      1. That's an outdoor unit. Google Nest Wifi Pro Home Mesh Blah Blah is for indoor use.
      2. I probably wouldn't be going to WAVLINK if I required an outdoor 802.11ax access point.
  • Any comments on latency and packet loss? Heard some things about it not being great for gaming

  • Some points i have noticed.
    * Supports gigabit lan.
    * Can’t do advanced stuff like selecting wifi channels to use.
    * Average Wifi speeds.

If you can get it cheap and don't care for the fastest, and advanced settings in most routers confuse you, then it will be fine.

    https://dongknows.com/google-nest-wifi-pro-review/

      • Can’t do advanced stuff like selecting wifi channels to use.

What a bummer. Thought only the cheap Mercusys lacked this feature.

It’s back in stock at Optus for $260. Just called up Officeworks for a price beat and got it delivered for $247

    • Thanks, just did the same!

    • My local OW wouldnt price match. Claimed there's no model number on Optus website. 😤

      • I rang up the general Officeworks number, no questions asked!

      • +1

The model number is in fact on the Optus website. I just got my local Officeworks to price match for $247. Optus have kindly listed the GTIN number on their website for the Officeworks staff to match.

    • Its showing out of stock now unfortunately

  • JB price matched Bunnings $245 (in store) for me yesterday.
Bunnings website showed stock at some stores, but no stock when you actually selected that store.
I rang around, found stock 100km away, and asked JB to match that, no issues.
    I'm in SA

    • How did you match offline product with JB?

      • I walked in and asked if they could, I found a store with stock (despite not showing online) I guess that was enough… :/
To add context I was purchasing a Qrevo (also price matching) and explained I sort of got screwed over with them last wkend with no stock after I bought GCs.
Guess it can depends on the person, time of day, other factors as mentioned.

    • Lucky you I tried the live chat before and they said they couldn't make it any close to that price. Looks like JB and OW start to realise that they also need to clear out stock of these lol

I feel like Google is releasing a new version of these.

Thanks OP! My 7 year old Deco M5 just kicked the bucket. Went to local OW and got 2x 3 packs. All setup and working brilliantly! OW price matched and got it down to $247.

    • 6 nodes! How big is your place

      • +1

The 3x M5 only just did the job, but had dead spots or poor signal around the house.

        Now have:
        1x garage (connected to NBN)
        1x office (wired)
        1x rear living room (wired)
        1x dining room (wireless)
        1x upstairs gallery (wired)
1x upstairs walk in robe (wired)

Getting just under 1000mb/s download and 50mb/s upload when testing speeds.

        Very happy. =)

  • $245 at Bunnings (Don't believe the stock on their web site. Heaps on hand.
JBhifi price matched Bunnings at $245.

    I bought 2 at this price ..

    • Some Bunnings sell them as low as under $100 i.e. the North Lakes store still has them in stock for $122.86. I don't think JB and OW can match that. That'd be a cracking deal.

    • My bunnings has none on display. Just checking if you had to ask for it specifically or they’re on display?

    • Its showing as $300.83 on their site. Where did you see $245?

  • Optus had it for $260 which was in stock yesterday and i bought one. Tried to match it with OW but they refused it saying that it that Optus accessories is a marketplace and sold by a third party which they don't match.

  • Hey guys iam looking to buy a good home wifi mesh system, just wondering if anyone has got experience with the google nest pro's. I upgraded my plan to 750mbps although my room doesn't get no where the same speeds because my room is upstairs. I experimented with the TP link AC1200 but it wasn't good. If anyone has the similar situation please let me know!

  • Just got JBHiFi to price match Bunnings despite it saying OOS on their website, I said Villawood has stock for click and collect.

No issues and they price matched immediately, $245.

    • Bunnings link?

It didn’t even say in stock on the website site when I told them, I guess they didn’t check or mind.

        • Yeh I'm a bit anti JB at the moment, based on my experience with my local, they'll tixk every box before giving oxygen to breathe

          • @parad0x: Can only try! By uber is booked

Some JB are great like that…. Mine are opposite
