in store only. Happy Hunting. Nothing around me.

You can't edit the router settings without internet on google wifi. So watch out for that.

    • +1

That seems to apply to many mesh systems.

      • I haven't tried the other ones so I can't speak to them. But I agree with lakers1222, I had a lot of issues with NBN and Optus when setting it up. It worked eventually after enough resets and it was fine from then on.

Also if you upgrade your router later and want to keep these as wifi APs it is painful. The mesh doesn't support bridge or AP mode. I think these ones because they all have an ethernet port you can set up each node individually in bridge mode and have seperate wifi APs but I'm stuck with the older one where only the main unit has an ethernet port. So the 2 mesh nodes are useless. And it's still painful to setup without a proper web interface.

    • Churning nbn was a pain. Eventually it worked using an android phone with the google app installed

      • I ended up only switching between ipoe providers!
Interface is a pita. Had to reset router and then had flashing yellow light for 4 months.
Apart from that, works extremely well.

  • This or Eero?

    • depends on what you want out of it. But the 3pack Eero with Wifi6 cheapest has been 389.99

      • Yer I was looking at the Eero 3 pack Wifi 6+ pack and I’m happy to wait for it to go back on sale if it’s better then this

Want it to cover my house in wifi mesh system.

      • I got mine from bunnings for 350 odd a few months back

    • I've installed them both. My pick would be the eero. It supports multiband mesh which allows you to place the satellites further apart (the Nest only supports 6ghz backhaul).

Having said that, I bought these Nest Wifi Pro from Bunnings for $75 each and I'm happy with them.

      • untrue, nest pro has dynamic band backhaul

        • Are you sure? The Google support document says:

"Nest Wifi Pro uses the 6 GHz band for its mesh network to ensure that Internet traffic stays fast whilst using mesh networks. This helps legacy 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi devices too."

          https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/12367191?sjid=1…

When I tried to set up a Nest Wifi Pro mesh it behaved like a 6 GHz only mesh, refusing to mesh over longer distances.

  • anyone know if this will this work with a nokia 5g fastmile gateway router or cause issues?

    • What are you using the Nokia fastmile for? Could you explain your setup?

      • for home internet via a sim card

        • +1

Ah ok so you're using the gateway as the modem? I think it'd work if you plug a nest point straight into it

  • How do people go about trying to get these low stock items?
Do you call the store, or just head in and see if they're on the shelf?

    • +1

I've gotten lucky by spotting it in store, but I'd call the store. I know Torquay and Leopold have atleast 3 - 4 each, but the website says out of stock.

      • Hmm yeah a store nearby me has "3", and also a store nearby my folks has 3 as well.
tbh I have to decide if I want to upgrade to this cause its cheap or just wait a bit longer.

  • +2

I picked this up a few days ago when the last post got made - I asked about price matching another Bunnings but no luck. $250 is still a great price compared to other options. Works great with Aussie BB/Buddy Telco 1000mb.

    • Hypothetically could you buy a new one for the current price and return that one with the old receipt?

      • +1

Or just return the brand new one with the old receipt to be fair to the retailer allowing them to resell easily.

  • Based on my research online this model has latency spike issues. I went with the TP link deco x55 instead. It’s not 6E, but has more reliable connection for my 250Mbps nbn.
6E is only really relevant if you have gigabit plans I think.

    • I bought the TP Link XE75 6E and been very impressed with it. If I saw this though for half the price i'd probably would have opted for it despite the inability to really tweak with google devices (I doubt they would allow anything but Google DNS)

      • You can use any DNS you like with this device.

  • My Deco M5 is still serving me well and in the last 4 years, tempted to upgrade to this

  • You can try your luck buying individual for $50 each @ Bunnings, some may still have in stocks

  • Might be silly question, Can this be used alongside the original google mesh wifi set (pre-nest)?

    • +1

No they can't mesh into a single network, though the original Google mesh wifi will mesh with the Nest mesh wifi. Just not with the Pro.

    • +1

This is the biggest pain point. I have 6 of the previous gen routers which are all working fine. I dont want to upgrade all at onces and then run the risk of introducing new problems.

  • Prices matched at a local store down to $180

    • +1

how'd it get down to $180?

      • +3

The post near the bottom has an image of a receipt from a few weeks ago paying $200 went to the service desk showed them they did a price match plus I am guessing beat a compete by 10% thing I didn’t even ask for and away I went

        https://imgur.com/a/juIjSfp

        • Thanks! Wow! now use this latest receipt and get it down to $160 lol

          • +2

@jonathansoriano: That may depend on stores some one above mentioned their local store wouldn’t compete with other Bunnings local one here did without a hassle

        • I bought it from the store sometime back. Is there any chance they price match if I go and ask now.

          • +1

@NoPainNoBargain: No idea at all fist time trying at Bunnings, their asking price was $300. I didn't even think of the extra 10 or even if they would match off a reciept only but they did. Checked the receipt on the way out to make sure I heard the $180 right lol

        • Thanks for that, I got the last one in Perth and price matched to $180

    • Can you please share the receipt? Thank you.

  • +2

I wanted to love these, but I was disappointed again and again. Full reboot was required way too often. Ended up replacing the Nest system with Ubiquiti UniFi products and haven’t looked back. UniFi is more expensive, but I think it’s worth it in the long run for network stability and consistency.

    • Same had first and second gen. Didn't want to roll the dice again. Went Asus AiMesh.

  • +2

Unlucky !!! not available for delivery or pick up. Officeworks won't price beat it .

  • +1

    Got one! Thanks OP!

    • Where did you manage to get one ? From Bunnings ?

  • Got one from Bunnings! FYI multiple stores said they had 2 in stock but when I went they said they didn’t have them and they were most likely some sort of old display stocks showing up.

One store had 3 stock though which ended up only being one! Snagged it!!

No price match from the other receipts sadly but still happy with the $245 price

  • +2

Ridiculous price. Well done to those who scored. Don’t bother calling any stores if you’re in VIC, as soon as you even mention the word router they’ll say none left lol. They must’ve gotten hammered with calls today.

  • Can someone explain Bunnings price matching policy to me? In regional NSW marked clearance at $300. Wouldn't match either the receipts here or their own website at $245 as it's "out of stock". Madness!

  • Thanks OP found 1

  • Hi guys, I have tenda mw3 , does it worth to update to google mesh WiFi 6 ?

    • Tenda MW3 only has 100Mbps LAN as I recall. So if you're on a higher NBN plan, says 250/25, then you can't get anything higher than 100 Mbps on your devices.

      • yes, I’m really on 250/25. Now I find the reason why my internet is so slow… thanks man.

  • Does anyone know if this price is just store specific or Bunnings wide?

    • Seems to be Store specific see my comment above

  • I managed to get it price beat at Castle Hill Officeworks by showing the staff in person that there was still stock at Minchinbury Bunning NSW.

I did call up Minchinbury NSW Bunnings, and they had 3 left.

Came down to $232.96 @ OF cheering.

    • Nice one, no idea why you got downvoted. I would try OW myself too.

      • Walked in today and OW won't price match with other OWs. One staff was to proceed price matching Bunning for me but got stopped by a manager (I guess). Lucky I still managed to grabe the last from local bunning. Happy day.

  • I think it's Bunnings wide. I managed to get one in QLD.

    • How? Almost impossible to order online unless I try my luck in the store.

  • +1

    Yeah in-store only

    • Lucky I got the last one from bunning. Tried JB live chat before and said they can't price match as no long available for order online. Then tried OW and close to check out but got stopped by the manage (I guess). Still happy with my 3rd attemtpt at bunning.

      Home wifi upgrading sorted!

  • +3

My local bunnings had it for $75. Bargain!!

    • Wow not bad. That's a 3 pack? Or the single?

      • +1

        3 pack

        • Man I thought I did good for grabbing it at $100! Nice work!

    • Can you share your receipt?

  • Do any of the satellites have ethernet ports?

    • Yes they do.

  • Picked one up at Bunnings Balgowlah. Staff wouldnt price match with the invoices here and I was too lazy to try to go to an officeworks for that extra 5%. Still a good price though. Huge improvement from the old nest wifi system

  • +1

Just picked up a 3 pack for $100 at Bunnings Lakehaven NSW. will post a pic of receipt when home.

    • you never posted any pic of receipt ?

      • +2

        when home

They might not be home yet…

        • Ahh sorry. Kids got in the way and completely forgot… It's now midnight. Will do tomorrow!

          • +1

@Blakel: Glad to see you did get home ok :-)

  • Got the last one in local qld store. All dusty at the back of the shelf out of sight!

Already have 4 of the original Google wifi ones. Can I add to those or should I start again?

    • +1

      Nah, not compatible unfortunately.

  • Got the last one in Morwell, $125; matched online price at Cranbourne. Manager said it was a deleted item and took a bit of patience for them to put it through??

  • I have these connected via Ethernet from the Optus Gen II Superfast Router.
Works great in conjunction with the rest of my Google Home and Amazon Alexa devices.

  • +2

got the last one in Smithfield for $62
    https://imgur.com/a/Wfq1sdF

    • this is crazy congrats

  • Why everyone got it for ~$100 and under while I also grabbed the last one for $245? lol

  • $300.83 at Delacombe, VIC and wouldn't price match other Bunnings.

  • Got one from Bunnings Shepparton for $199 :-)

  • Thank you for the photo of the receipt I was able to get one down to $145 in SA :)
Any other SA people on, there is a few left at Mt Barker and Murray Bridge

  • Thanks I was able to price beat at Officeworks in Alexandria NSW :) about $233 in the end
Just had to show them there was stock in NSW and that it's not a Bunnings Marketplace product.
