After picking up one of the BE models last week for my place just about to get this one also for the folks… Seem to be some good deals on AMZ lately for Routers from Asus

FEATURES
IMAGE
Low Latency & Less Interference
The newly available 6 GHz frequency band is dedicated purely to WiFi 6E devices. This means that older WiFi devices can’t interfere with 6E signals at all, enabling faster and more reliable connections for your 6E devices.

IMAGE
Massive Capacity
WiFi 6E has up to seven additional high-speed 160 MHz channels, enabling multi-gigabit speeds with stable and consistent connections. It dramatically increases network capacity while reducing congestion, delivering higher performance for every WiFi 6E device.

IMAGE
Connect Instantly
As the new 6 GHz band is exclusively reserved for WiFi 6E devices, there’s no need for Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS), which prevents interference with things like air traffic control radar systems. This means that devices can connect quicker without the delays imposed by DFS.

One-Tap Safe Browsing
The internet can contain inappropriate content, intrusive ads or other dangers and safety risks. ASUS Safe Browsing helps block undesirable content in one tap — no extra apps required. Its lightweight DNS-based filtering won’t affect router performance.

For anyone interested, this model does not support any custom firmware which is a real shame. Otherwise, decent piece of kit

  • How's the range?

    • I'd like to know this too. Is the range better because it has 6 antennas? Or is it more about the size of the antennas rather than the quantity?

  • How does this compare to Netgear Nighthawk XR1000?

  • Good price. It doesn't look like it supports Asuswrt Merlin which is a nice option to have, but unfortunately doesn't support it. It also looks like it's still on the 3.0.0.4 branch firmware which isn't a good sign. People I've spoken to on SNBForums still aren't sure whether or not routers that don't already have 3.0.0.6 firmware will get it if it already doesn't have it, which if it doesn't, more likely to mean it goes EoL sooner than the models that have the newer 3.0.0.6 firmware.

I wonder why it says can't be delivered to my location. I've seen routers from Germany, UK, US, AU being able to be delivered to my postcode, but why not this one.
