$260 Delivered yesterday, hopefully it comes back in stock again.

Otherwise it's $314.10 at JB with perks code.

    • That $260 deal only lasted about 5 mins though before OOS.

Really good price for a 6E mesh system, buy just beware as a lot of reviews comment on frequent latency spikes. So might not be great if you do a lot of online gaming.

    • +5

That simply because they did not know how to setup main modem to bridge mode and facing Double NAT

      • for FTTP installations, is the main modem the NTD on the inside wall? are you saying there's something we have to configure with it? I too have heard of the latency complaints online but this is the first response/solution I've seen so far

  • How are these wireless through brick and metal walls? I had to return a 3 pack Wi-Fi 6 mesh because it couldn't cover my house + granny flat compared to a cheap 2 pack Wi-Fi 5 mesh.

    • Would love to know the answer to this. I returned TPLink Deco XE75 Pro’s because they were terrible for coverage.

Was waiting for the Eero 6+ to be discounted again.

    • Wireless 2.4G is the best for a Granny flat solution.
Just hang an old 2.4G router from this specifically for the flat.
Try and get directional antennas for the 2.4G router.

5/6Ghz does not do through walls well.

    • I have double brick and they struggle if separated by more than one room. Four cover my ~150sqm apartment.

Is this where we are now with this kind of equipment? That seems crazy to me, and really shows up how much nonsense is included in the marketing for these things.

        • Yep, I would be angry if I bought at full price. Luckily I got at Bunnings for cheaper .. and Amazon sent me an extra set accidentally after I cancelled my order with them.

  • What is the purpose of these? - Does it act as essentially a WIFI extension?
Do I retain my existing modem next to the NBN Black box and have these scattered around the house to boost coverage?

    Thanks

    • +2

If you have an NBN box, that's essentially your modem. What you have plugged into that is a router.
This is a replacement router. It's a 3 pack that talk to each other wirelessly, yes extending the coverage and by extension the speed

If anyone's in the area, Bunnings Bendigo has one left in stock and will price match the website for $199.

    • That’s expensive bro I paid 122.86

      • Damn, that's a great price. Not everyone's lucky to have a bunnings that'll do that price unfortunately.

I mean I just glad they even had stock haha

  • Do you need subscription to use the features on this router?

    • +1

No, just a Google account (but it doesn need to be connected to the Internet to access the settings)

  • Are these nearing the end of their product cycle or something? I snagged a 3pk from the $245 Bunnings deal a couple of days ago and considered myself lucky, but have been noticing that steep discounts on these routers are a dime a dozen recently

  • Frustrating experience for me where my local Bunnings still priced at $300 and won't price match other Bunnings stores or their own website as it's out of stock online.
Looks like a Bunnings store in Bathurst has 2 in stock for $155 according to https://bunnings.youinstock.com.au/search/0529725
    Good luck!

    • 122.86

      • Got a de-identified receipt? I might try putting through a store credit request with Bunnings HQ

          • +1

@WwDesi: thanks mate. I'm not sure head office honours interstate prices but we shall see

            • @KeplersLaws: No harm trying good luck

              • +1

@WwDesi: will sneak in a mention of the recent heat they've been catching re. their monopolising/exclusive supplier arrangements 😂🤞

    • +1

$62 at Smithfield Bunnings, 1 left in stock according to that site

  • JB matched a local bunnings which had stock, woo

    • username checks out

  • +2

Why are they under $200 at some Bunnings stores? That seems bizarrely cheap.

I just pulled the trigger on Amazon as I thought $319 seemed good but now I’m not so sure.

    • +1

my thoughts the same per my comment above 🤔 I appreciate the RRP of 699 is a very inflated starting point but still..

maybe they've got a wifi 7 router imminent?

    • +1

Bunnings seems to be clearing out stock, only challenge is actually finding stock

      • I’m gonna head down to my local (Newstead) at lunch and see what happens.

    • +2

Yeah, the price of these have been wildly inconsistent. I have no idea what’s going on.

  • got mine at bunnings, bundamba - $245.72

    • Oh you got that one! I was going to get it last Saturday but it said only 1 in stock and I couldn't be bothered trying to find it.

  • +3

got mine at bunnings in smithfield for $62

  • +3

Just had JBhifi to match Bunnings $245

Oh. Even though Bunnings says no stock online, if you search stores, it will say in stock (or low stock)
Best to give them a call…

Easy install. Looks good so far.

  • can you set separate SSID for each band ?

    • +3

no - possibly a lot of trouble for setting up smart/iot devices that require your phone to be on a 2.4ghz network (for the initial pairing phase). solutions I've researched are:

      • move away so that your phone hops onto the 2.4ghz band… seems kinda silly
      • if your phone allows, force it onto the band
      • use a hotspot from another device (hotspots are exclusively 2.4ghz) with the same SSID and PW, setup the smart device, disable hotspot, then re-enable mesh network
  • -2

Any foolproof way we can price match Bunnings, I've attempted several Officeworks , JBs none would price match receipt & site (no stock)

  • I got the last one from Bunnings Brendale but the women refused to go lower than 245. Crazy they don’t have consistent pricing or match each other.

Tbh it has been a total hassle to set up with my FTTB set-up. My modem router in bridge mode didn’t work trying to set it up on my iPhone and I spent hours and hours on the phone to ISP and stuffing around.

Got it working now but not in bridge mode (current modem/router) and I don’t think it was worth it. YMMV 🤷‍♂️

    • Yeah, Bunnings is staunch about not matching other states (or even other stores) with their somewhat bs cop out excuse being each store has different supplier costs/etc. I tried my best!

Mine setup perfectly with my new FTTP installation — even though my isp uses pppoe it didn’t even ask for login details during Wan setup 😳 just worked straight away

Downstream from the main router, I have a series of wired mesh Points / cheap unmanaged switches and all seems to be working well with good ping and speed.
