  • Hmm. Pick this up for $314 or see if I can find one at Bunnings in a regional town this weekend for $245

    • In the comments in the Bunnings thread you will find a receipt from someone who got it for $180, with that the other Bunnings stores should price match, I got it matched.

      • Oh damn that is worth trying then

      • Can bunnings pricematch another bunnings store?

        • I’ve tried and they always refuse.

        • I’ve tried and they always refuse.

  • How are the parental controls on these? If anyone using these can elaborate? Thanks

  • This or TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro AXE5400 ?

XE75 pro is much better but also more expensive.

      • Is there even any point in getting the Pro version? Most people running NBN have under gigabit speeds. Hell, I’m running 100/20 speed.

        • Maybe. I started with the Nest Wifi for ease of use. Best use case was turning off instagram and tiktok for any device my 15yo teen uses. Eventually, I had too much 'conditions' and devices that the entire network slowed down. I added x2 more satellites - didn't help.

I'm thinking the Pro will add to the number of concurrent connections and will have improved router processing.

I'm a heavy user with lights, speakers, hubs etc.

Or the Eero 6 Plus system when it comes on sale again for $300ish

        • I bought the xe75 3 pack from good guys commercial for 445. Pretty impressed so far, running with wireless backhaul but getting 900/650/550 from the three nodes that span a very long corridor. Would be ever greater with ethernet backhaul. If you are not running a wired network, the pro is probably not worth the extra over the standard xe75s.

@markb28: I have Ethernet ports throughout my house

I was looking at this one

            https://amzn.asia/d/5PnAsqd

Most of my wifi devices I use apart from Nintendo Switch are Apple devices like iPad, iPhones, HomePods, MacBooks

            • @Twisty: If you have ethernet backhaul, most mesh systems will be decent, including those errors.

              • @markb28: Ok thanks but overall I still want a decent system

Thing that sucks with these, is the last model, non-pro, had Google assistant built in, but these don't. Although these do have Ethernet and wifi 6. Hoping new model comes soon with assistant again. Definitely worth it for this price if u aren't upgrading from Google mesh non-pro

Google Assist has become more and more terrible over the past little while, sadly. Aside from asking the weather and setting a timer, there's hardly anything I use it for anymore. It won't ever play me what I want on Spotify, it doesn't understand basic commands I used to give it with no issues, and the joint speaker sets almost never work at all. The idea of speakers across my home was a huge drawcard, but they keep pulling more and more functionality.

I must agree, sometimes I ask a question and it plays a song off Spotify using the words from my question. It's gone a bit crazy. I have setup myself as the Netflix account on the Google app, but the Google hub still goes to my wifes Netflix account. Still some quirks for sure. But my kids love asking it to play songs and seems to work fine for me using Spotify.

I have so many devices with Assistant that’s no drama for me

  • Does anyone know if you…

Can you pay online with JB using TCN Gift Cards ? (presume so)

Can you split payment across multiple gift cards ?

I tried doing a cart-checkout but it's not clear if I can split across multiple payment methods or use multiple gift cards… say 3 x $100 cards.

    • +1

Multiple JB gift cards, yes. multiple TCN cards, pretty sure you need to do that in store.

      • Thanks.. wanting to "stack" the current WW Rewards 20X for TCN Gift cards. Off to the store(s) I go. Cheers.

        • +1

No problem. The reason is that the TCN cards are just debit cards from the POV of the store, and JB doesn't let you split payment between multiple debit cards online. Staff should let you split payment in store though

    • I presume you can convert TCN cards to JB GC online and that way can use them online. I remember doing that last year.

I can’t speak for the pro but I have the normal ones and the app lets them down so much. It’s the worst experience ever, you have to use the clunky Google Home app and no browser option available. If the internet goes down I can’t even open the app and reset/change settings, even if I’m still connected to the network. They are seamless when they work though, does a good job at handing you off to the closest point.

No web browser options, thats nuts!

      • +2

Yeah I reckon. It’s probably fine for the average user but if you need to setup DHCP reservations or port forward it’s just so clunky. DHCP reservation screen lists all devices in seemingly random order (half show up as “Unknown device”) so the easiest way to find it is by looking at the MAC address, but you need to scroll through all of them and can’t even search.

    • Great find!

"DISCLAIMER: Only 5 per customer per transaction."
      - 15x nodes per customer will be enough for most people I'd say 😅

    • Wow cancelled my click and collect at jb and price beat at officeworks what a crazy deal

    • Great deal
