FYI - for those in Brisbane, I was offered the gift card at the Browns Plains store, however then had to pick up the phone (256gb model) at the Springfield Central store, as Browns Plains had no stock. Springfield desk team processed the gift card when I picked up the phone.

    It's already on marketplace 😯

  • Pixel 9 pro 128GB received $350 gift card in Fountain gate JB. First went to Narre Warren JB and they said, I will get gc with $99 plan.

    • Do you remember the name of the sales assistant? Will try my luck there tomorrow if they have stock

      • Sales assistant is Adam. He is really nice and helpful. Also, store manager did the billing for me.

    • Isn't that correct? You will get GC with $99 plan

      • There's a typo in my previous comment. Narre store said they don't stack gc with $99 plan. But Fountain Gate store gave me $350 gc with $99 plan

        • Fountain gate store declined 350. Point to the terms

Lets say we signed the contract and also get $350 gc, cancel the plan, refund the phone for $1200. If we are to buy outright, wouldn't it cost more to buy same phone as we will be paying outright price ?
Even if we buy s24u, $2187 outright.
What people are buying after they refund the phone to fully utilise the profit ? I prefer to use up all the gc.

    • +7

Some people actually want the phone to use.

    • Why would the refund only come out to $1200?

      • That is what people said here

      • +1

2 different stores told me no refund on this

        • I would be surprised if they could find anywhere in their tc&cs that states no refunds. Have you told them it was from the plan before/while you’re returning the phone?

        • Sounds like you didn't need a new phone lol.

I don't see why you can't return if unopened. Don't expect the whole amount back.

Does cashback offer expires on 6th of Nov?
Will it stop earlier than that date?

  • Sorry guys, does this plan apply to student visa holder as well or not???
Or just Pr and Citizen now. My Phillipine friend said she got declined ?

    • Your temporary visa should be valid for atleast 24 months from the date of plan sign up. And you should have good income on TFN.

  • I thought I report back. I ended up getting the $350 GC and was able to get the $99 first month fee refunded. So all up it cost me $766.59 - $350 = $416.59. I call that a deal!

I'm struggling to get the $99 refunded from Telstra chat. Could you please explain how you managed to get it refunded?

      JB Booragoon

Here's the exact words I used

Hi, I just signed up with telstra yesterday, but had a change of mind. I've been charged cancellation fee which is fine and I'm happy to pay. But I was also charged the first month fee $99. Is it possible to get a refund on that since I haven't used the service?

      • +1

This is exactly what I used yesterday 🤞 however need to tried twice, as the first person who I asked to cancel the plan refused to do the refund.

      • Did you have to cancel the service first, before being able to secure/get the refund for the $99?

Have tried about 4 times across the JB and Telstra apps, each time just getting the generic 'We can't refund as it is part of contract terms etc etc'. But I am wondering if I will have more luck if I terminate first and request refund later.

  • I didn't get the gift card from ringwood, vic but truly great deal. thankyou!

There is a credit check so do be aware.

  • No GC at Vic Gardens, but no complaints, it was always luck of the draw anyway.

Getting that pro-rata refund and then selling my current P6P should get the overall price down nicely.

    • No luck with the $99 refund though, during cancellation.

      The agent said this:

I understand and I love to refund it but its already posted and cannot be change, it is also part of your contract agreement.

And when I pressed, they said

When you sign up to this plan you agreed with the contract terms including the payment, I love to make changes on it but its already posted.

I proceeded to cancel anyway but maybe I'll try again tomorrow or Monday for the $99.

      • +1

Tried a few representatives and you will somehow get to the right one. Mention them you just signed up and cancel on the same day and you even haven't use the service.

      • Request for refund on Telstra app not jbhifi app

        • The chat was with Telstra and they were adamant it wasn't possible. I'll try again tomorrow/Monday.

          • +1

@rith: Update: I've chatted to them again (fwiw, the cancellation invoice had since been received and initial pending amount cleared) and got the $99 refund approved.

  • Any tips on getting the GC and $99 plan or is it just luck?

  • Can someone please confirm what is phone cost on receipt, thinking to salary sacrifice

    • +1

Whatever the listed phone price is, mine was $1847 because of 256gb upgrade.

  • Thanks OP, picked up a 128gb hazel yesterday and was lucky enough to get the gift card on top :). Hadn't been in store to check out the phone in person - it's utterly perfect coming from a Pixel 7.

Now for a case & screen protector!

  • They threatened to cancel my gift card if I didn't stay for 24 months

    • Who is 'they' ?

    • +1

      How can they.
Just buy something with it and return it

  • Got the last one (apparently it was on hold for someone). Guy said the $350 gift card wasn't on top, it's one or the other. Although said he could do me a deal so I got the 256gb with OtterBox case for $100 extra instead of $147 for the 256gb

Sales assistant at the desk had to ask if the $350 gift card was definitely not included as it was an option on the screen but the guy had told her no it's one or the other.

Still pretty happy, refunded the $99 and early termination of ~$750

    • Lol where you get 750 from.
I think you have to go in early the first day before they know what's going on.

      • Early termination fee, that's what was quoted
$766.50 as per the post above was the exact amount

        • +2

          Still a good deal

    • Whats the reason that you mention in Telstra Chat for same day cancellation?

      • Work was providing me a Sim card

      • Ordered by mistake, haven't used it at all.

    • u chatted with JB to get 99 refunded or telstra ?

      • JB Mobile chat is where I am trying to ask for cancellation. But they are trying to deny $99 refund for first month.

      • Chatted with Telstra via app

        • What strategy did you use to get the refund?
I have tried about 4 times across JB/Telstra to cancel and get the refund, no dice at all.

          • +2

@BCamera: Just asked Telstra guy politely if I could have the $99 refunded since I didn't use it.

  • -3

Has anyone successfully returned their P9P? Tried to return my P9P today and the store manager requested to return $350 GC as well.

    • +2

No returns.. they've caught onto the double deception.

Correct you should give it back, and only get 1200 back. Lot of effort and time, just keep.

  • +1

    Got a 128GB P9P + $350 GC this morning.

Have tried about 4 times across JB/Telstra to cancel and secure the $99 refund though, how has everyone else been making this happen? Cancel first, then ask for refund? Or just lucky dip with trying multiple agents?

    • +1

Try through Telstra app not Jbhifi app

      • +1

Okay, cancel through Jbhifi app quoting plan is too expensive
Then once the plan disappears from jbhifi app, hop onto Telstra app and request for refund as you cancelled jbhifi plan and you never used it.

    • I successfully got the refund the second try today, after having already processed the cancellation on Saturday.

Was very polite and used a similar template to above of saying I cancelled immediately and haven't used the service (and would happily pay the cancellation fee). They said normally they can't do it and had seeked approval, which was given to me after a few minutes (as a "one-time courtesy").

      • I tried Telstra app chat window as well as Jb Mobile chat window. No luck to get $99 refund.

        JB Mobile chat response:
Apologies, as we at messaging is unable to process the refund of your first payment. We hope for your understanding in this matter.

Is there a way to cancel online or do I have to call/go in store?

I see you use the jb mobile app. The docs when signing up say you need to call ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • Has anyone had success with getting GC in an Adelaide store?

    • I got the GC at Mile End about 45min ago!

      • Thanks @neeeem123! Just got it at Mile End :)

        • Oh no Mile End store told me GC & $1700 off can't be clubbed together. Are you able to share the name of sales rep or order receipt with me please?

    • +2

Why do you want to keep gift card if returning phone…bit unethical…

  • +1

Any store in Sydney that still provides GC.

  • +1

Gift card is available from the Osborne Park store in WA. Tim could not have been more helpful.

    • I'm tempted to drive down for this, to check did you have to ask for it or they gave you automatically? Gave my local JB a call and they won't do provide the $350 GC :(

      • +1

I asked the guy who served me on the floor, Tim. He confirmed I'd get both offers but he said I should remind the person at checkout to give me the GC because they sometimes forget. I reminder her, she called for the manager to give it to me and he did, no questions asked.

        • I bought it today in Brisbane

Salesperson reminded me to get the gift card from the counter when I pay then the cashier hit up someone and said not to issue one.

Bit frustrating that I was specifically told to grab it as did the other person getting same deal as me which he got, but I didn't ….

          • @zb c: I would've told them to get (profanity), you were sold the phone/plan based off the information the salesperson provided you.

        • Thanks, I managed to get it from the same store as well. Glad I made the trip down there! What a good deal with the gift card thrown in.

          • @Ongy528: Time will tell whether the transaction goes through but I also had success getting the Telstra rep to agree to refund $99 - on my first attempt!

  • +2

Yeah I got this deal with the $350 gift card today at Osborne Park, WA as well. I walked in and asked the guy working in the TV area about possibly bundling a TV with a phone for a good price in the hope he had a bit less of an idea about the gift card not being included. (Ofc I didn't end up getting the TV but he put the phone sale through, manager happily issued gc.)

What an insane price! Thanks all.

  • Anyone know when the $350 gc extra promotion will end ?

    • Says 06/11

      • Cheers

        • +1

I received gc $350 with no expiry.

  • Hey guys,

Have the 256GB P8P but very keen to get a smaller phone… Technically I could return this phone still for a refund, as having consistent reception issues (!!!), but can't really be bothered for that hassle… Would be a $1010 refund via gift card.

I noticed that P9P page on the JB website now offers a $400 additional bonus for trade ins ($930 total including $530 offered for P8P 256GB), can I assume that this would not stack with the $1700 discount?

And if that's correct, I would at least still get the $350 gift card too, right?

    Thanks so much :)

    • +1

Correct, trade in bonus not available with other pixel deals. I believe you'd get $400 trade bonus and should get $350 GC after. Still nowhere as good as $1700 off but good way to get rid of phone.

You wouldn't feel right selling a phone with issues privately, I'd still contact google about warranty I guess and they may send you a new one. Going through JB probably a hassle for warranty (you won't get a refund for used phone).

      • Thanks so much, appreciate that! JB has told me they would accept the return and refund the P8P….

        • +1

No brainer then. Do that and better than trade in.

  • Just back from Albury jb, no dice. But cancelling with telstra chat was a breeze, took 5 mins and they refunded the $99

  • I signed up a couple of days ago, unfortunately did not do my due diligence of reading OzBargain comments regarding the $350 voucher. My wife signed up the following day after we scouted a store that honours the $350 GC promo and was successful. We also both managed to get the $99 refund from Telstra chat upon the first attempt. My tip would be to be polite and concise with what you want, make it as easy for the rep as possible.

  • For those that purchased 128gb model please confirm recepit includes gst amount for trs

  • To those who successfully ordered in a Pixel from another store that had stock, did they give you another tax invoice on pickup?

The tax invoice I received at the time of placing the stock transfer does not show GST for the phone (GST = $0), saying it's not taxable which is unusual. I'm wondering whether that's just a quirk in the system and an updated tax invoice with GST included will be issued when I go to pick up the phone.

    • You can ask them for an e-invoice, you get a link via an SMS normally.

      • The e-invoice also shows the Pixel 9 Pro excludes GST (???)

  • For those who got the $99 refund how did you get it? For my it shows as $99 credit in my boost app.
