Bonus credits for new and moving electricity customers.

Do they use the literal meaning of 'moving' ?

  • Too bad this is only for electricity and WA is locked in,

Currently in the market to change gas, but I think $50 + 2000 EDT points is the best I can get (already signing up to Origin)

  • A while back there was a similar deal where you get the credit if you had an active plan by xx where you would just join very close to that date and reap the credit. Is origin now moving the goal posts for their credit sign-on offers now?

    • What do you mean by 'moving the goal posts'? The terms are published on the promotion page allowing you to determine whether the promotion suits you or not.

If they still have it will sign up closer to Feb 2025..

  • Damn good offer, but I have $241 credit with agl still which should last me another 2 qtrs. lol

    • you can switch now to cash out the credit if you prefer

      • You've done this?

        • that worked for me, but I am in QLD and cashed out the $1000 QLD gov rebate, may be not for NSW…

        • I have- I cashed it all out. Just go on chat and ask, they'll sort it out in 5min.

      • probably not the govt rebate part and only the solar FIT credit

        • My experience has been that they will cash out the government rebate but not any promotional credit.

  • I called origin and they applied the $200 credits but they couldn't find the $50 Mastercard offer? How did everyone get the $50 Mastercard?

    • From reading the T&C it’s an offer by OBS rather than Origin Energy, as long as you use the code.

  • Can you get the $50 Mastercard when signing up online? I can't see where one would enter the code..

    • Cannot see anywhere we can enter the code…

      • I don't think a code is required for online sign-up as it's a custom URL.

Code is for over the phone.

  • Still eligible for the government $300 support if you switch ?

Why wouldn't you be eligible? The government encourages consumers to change providers.

I have had 8 electricity providers in the last 8 months and received the quarterly government $75 twice in one quarter.

  • They only offered me $50 credit.

  • Does anyone know when this offer ends?

    • Yes, I was also looking for an end date for this promotion. As far as I can see, it remains open as the linked page provides a quote. I am hoping it will continue to be open next week, as that's when I'll need to churn electricity again.

  • it looks like if you got solar then $50 cash back & no solar get $200 cash back.

    • We have solar and I'm being offered $200.

      • Did you get the solar boost plan?

I don't recall the tariff name, but I didn't proceed with the offer as I'm waiting to exhaust account credit with my current provider.

I am hoping this deal is still active on Friday or Saturday.

        • 'Origin Advantage Variable ePlus' is the tariff name.

In case it helps anyone, I've saved an archive of the current terms here https://web.archive.org/web/20250212090628/https://www.origi…

  • An offer end date has now been added to the offer page. Maybe Origin is watching OzBargain?

This promotion ends on 27 February 2025. (I can't report this post to have the end date amended.)

New archive incorporating the end date is saved here: https://web.archive.org/web/20250214102253/https://www.origi…

  • Does anyone know if you can sign up to this deal then switch to these 5% lower rates and still get the 200 credit? Has anyone done that?

    • Does anyone know if you can sign up to this deal then switch to these 5% lower rates and still get the 200 credit? Has anyone done that?

The question is, 'Why would want to do that?'.

Exhaust the credit received under this promotion then churn to another retailer. You will save much more than the 5% off you'll get under the other 'deal'. Rinse and repeat.

      • You can do both. Well, 5% on $200 is $10 and you have to wait until 28 Feb, so it will only last 3 or so days more, but money is money

    • To get the credit you should stay on this plan until 28 Feb, so switch to the cheaper rates on 1st March
