Reposting as the amount has changed, credit to @manwithtwobrains

Interesting OzB comments from previous deal:

  • I've always been able to get the $150 from Powershop every 4 to 5 months. That's not to say they won't catch on at some point.
  • They declined the switch - rather they accepted it then a few days later sent a cancelled connection email.

Ecconex giftcard deal might come back so may be worth holding on for a week or two

  • "The promotion was was indeed reactivated and then shortly withdrawn sometime on 28th March. I have confirmed it will come back next month."
  • I got an sms to complete a google review for Econnex for $20 Woolies gift card. Very easy process

How is this a deal when gas was $150 signup bonus in previous deal?

Also powershop seems to do a credit check every time to churn to them, unlike AGL and engie

    • what's wrong with credit check?

      • -3

Well your credit score goes down and affects future electricity and gas churning, jb telstra mobile plans approval for offers, loans etc

        • +2

I churn my NBN/Gas/eletricity/ every 6 months and my mobile every month.
          Never had any problem.

          • @AsukaST: It’s a problem because you can get decline for the provider which happened to me.

          • @AsukaST: Ive been rejected a few times by the smaller energy companies when ive had 2 credit checks done in less than 6 months

    • They all do credit checks

      • +1

Churned to agl and engie 6 times over 12 months and no credit checks. Churned twice to powershop and got hit with 2 credit checks. Just FYI

      • +1

        No they don't

    • Worlds changing. Suspect many more customers churning just the hot water or the cooktop where $150 can be the whole quarters bill.

  • Done, thanks 🙏

  • Can I switch to the switchsaver for $150 then immediately change to one of their EV plans?

  • Best to use referral $75 for elect than cashbacks as you have to be with powershop for a long time to get the cashback

    • Does the referral stack with the $150 sign up offer though?

      • Seems to - when you use a referral link it says "Receive up to $275 in credits when you combine selected residential electricity and gas plans and sign up from a Switch Your Mates referral."

  • Already with powershop
Whats another electricity supplier in Vic that has offers?

    • +1

You can get a referrer code on ozbargain which gives you $50 off gas and electric as well. https://energy.arcline.com.au/member-offer/

    • +1

Energy Australia is offering $200 for electricity
Engie is offering $100 each for gas/electricity
Stack with CashRewards $120 Cashback for electricity and I think it’s $80 more for gas.
I’m sure there are others but they are the biggest atm I think.

  • Been with PowerShop many times for the incentives. Good friendly customer service.

Stay each time until credit used up (low electricity use).
Promptly refunded unused remainder of 'cost of living' rebate without needing to ask - unlike Origin that took a month.

    • How do they refund the $75 federal government rebate?
Straight to your bank account or to your next energy provider?

      • +1

It's our money, not retailer's! Deposit to my bank account (direct debit set up). $55 left.
Had $1100+ refund from Origin in Qld.

  • Does this offer stack with CR/SB/TCB cashback?

    • Yes - its a separate credit applied to your PowerShop energy account. Used to pay bills.

Done that many times after sign up with Econnex - which provides the CR/SB/TCB cashback.
Haven't paid for electricity for years!

  • If you are a Costco customer. Switch to powershop via https://www.costco.com.au/services#home . You will get $200 Costco shop card after 3 months if you are executive member and if you are a gold member, you will get $70 essentially covering 1 year of Costco membership.

  • I switched from engie black Friday deal, they were a total rip off. I found power house to be the cheapest in the market plus the 200 credit

Watch out people, engie is a thief 😂

No thanks these guys are dogs. Go with AGL. Better solar rates and these cunce dont even tell you the rate on their bill and have to squeeze them over the phone just to get their rates

    • "these guys are dogs
these cunce dont even tell you the rate on their bill"

      Rubbish😜
      It's all there, nothing hidden!
You just need to go to Specsavers😂

      Am very happy with PowerShop!

      In Bill…
Rates are shown in itemized bill
e.g. From recent bill over Summer:
      Supply Charges:
Daily Supply Charge 33 days $1.2271/day
      Usage Charges:
All Day Usage 190 kWh $0.2898/kWh
      etc
Plan is shown in red under "Your Current Residential Plan": Switch Saver

And before you receive a bill…
Plan you sign up to is shown at time of sign up.
Tariff is shown in PDF in email "Pricing and terms" after you sign up.

As most here likely switch after credit for switching (& rebates) is used up, any higher rates are of little consequence to regular switchers (like me).

Incentives to switch far outweigh any cost💰
Haven't paid for electricity for years (All electric aircon home, no solar)

I signed up with econnex and nothing happened, just got my usual AGL bill

Retailers have to send you details of your new service. Usually before the service switches.
      Did you receive the emails?

      Contact Powershop.

Were you a new customer at PowerShop

As commented in Deal Description & last Econnex Deal, churningNburning recently had their switch to PowerShop cancelled as they had gained multiple $150 "new customer" credits!!
(Like some of us have done. I've got 6 PowerShop accounts under same name etc! They don't delete accounts after you leave. In a call to PowerShop, found they are very aware of my retailer switching habits over many years😉 But they didn't care.)

After sign up, did you receive the confirmation email from Econnex with reference number for switching retailers?

PM Econnex Rep Manyo with that reference number for explanation.

      It's worth contacting Econnex!
$200 MC for switching (to PowerShop) with Econnex in December didn't arrive by 120 days.
Sent Rep PM with reference number days ago.
Manyo replied & said staff would investigate. Received my $200 MC.

Spent that $150 "new customer" Powershop Electricity credit & switched recently with Econnex to Engie for $100 credit.
Hoping to switch back to PowerShop after 45d, but not if they're cancelling "new" signups!

Many retailers like Engie only allow 1 credit per year

When I visit the terms & conditions, https://www.powershop.com.au/customer-terms-and-conditions/e… I see included this condition:

'the market contract must be your first electricity market contract with Powershop for the premises you switch.'

Does this inclusion mean that we can't make use of the deal if we've done so previously?

(That would explain churningNburning's recent experience, above

  • +1

I can not see any of these deals terms when I sign up.
