Seems pretty expensive for Nepal. You can survive there pretty well for 2 months on that sort of cash. Guides are 2000-3000npr per day. Porters about half that.

Kathmandu is starting point only, kailash is in tibet.

    • How are they now?

You must be smoking some good stuff dude.

        • Good to know. I would personally steer clear of the occult (never really been anywhere near it) but I’m sure many people are sceptical it could be more than make-believe.

    • may be its YOU !!!

The outlined acclimatization day in Gyirong helps, but it’s wise to also spend 2-3 days in Kathmandu before starting your journey to further improve acclimatization process. If possible, consider adding more acclimatization days, especially if you have little prior experience with high-altitude treks.

  • Please be aware Mt Kailash trek is at high altitude above 4500 metres and there is very limited medical help if you get in trouble.
Definitely need good equipment and avoid sun exposure. Also it may be too late in the year as winter fast approaching.
A good one is offered by Tibet Vista, Lhasa to Kathmandu, with tours on the way around Lhasa, EBC and Kailash, and finishing the in Kathmandu or back in Lhasa. Thats 13 or 15 days think just over 2100 usd depending on the time of year.

    • I had this tour with Tibet Vista a few years ago. It was a great exercise, but 15% of the participants experienced high altitude sickness, often due to a food poisoning. A 15-day tour allows you to see all of Tibet and acclimatize to the high altitude.

Ps on the Kailash hike itself, most people arriving from Nepal were already sick.

    This is expensive

      This is marketing

  • Seems like a potential rip off. Tips will break the bank I’m sure

  • My parents and grand parents did similar trip last month.
It was around $1800 aud per person.

  • Those complaining are real jokers. I have been there and it cost somewhere around 4K AUD. Obviously, you can sleep on the road and save some, but I still see it as a better deal. Kailash is more important for some religions and it’s not just trekking, by the way.

    • Tea house trekking only costs around $20 a day maybe $30 when you start going up to the higher altitudes as food is more expensive to get up there.

    • How was your experience and who did you go with.

  • Om mani padme hum….
