Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 256GB $687 ($1500 off) + $300 Giftcard on JB Hi-Fi Mobile $89/M 24M SIM Plan @ JB Hi-Fi (in-Store)

160

Same deal with this one but now JB have reduced down $1500 gift card instead $1700

Credit to @evilhomura89

As confirmed in the previous JB Telstra cancellation deals , the cancellation cost would be $766.59 + $89 for the first month fee
Hence the total cost would be $766.59+$89+$2187-$1500 = $1542.59 for the 256GB Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
In addition to the above, JB is throwing in an extra $300 Bonus Giftcard for this sign up, bringing the cost down to $1052.59 $1252.59

EDIT: for those who are with Telstra, you might have an opportunity to bring the price lower by asking JB to price match Telstra store.

Waiting for similar deal on iphone 15 pro max…🤞🏼🤞🏼

    • Is that for iPhone pro max 16 or 15 ? Keen on getting 16 pro max too
Edit: here is actually what I found on JB’s website $1000 off any iPhone 16 pro max , not as good as the Samsung deal though

      https://imgur.com/a/hOVvlZ0

      • Anyone wanna run the math for this?

        • For 16 pro max 766.59+$89+2147-1000=2,013, saving $144.
          For 15 pro max 766.59+$89+1947-1000=1803, saving $144.
My math might be wrong, i just took the numbers from above changed to iphone price/discount

Math doesn't add up. How does adding in a $300 gift card from $1542.59 make it $1052.59?

    • +13

I dont like when deals say the bonus GC bringing down the cost. It does not bring down your out of pocket costs at all. Its a 'bonus' for you to use down the track.

    • +1

looks like op forgot to update with the 1500 voucher (previous post had 1700 voucher)

new total would be $1542.59 - 300 = 1,242.59, that's assuming you take the gift card value into account

      (personally I agree with @worthy1)

        thanks - reported to mods

  • How would this deal work with 512Gb version? TIA

    • +1

Same deal. Just subtract $1500 from the cost of the 512gb version.

  • Ive tried to price match then get the deal but no luck from 2 jbhifi stores and 1 good guys.

    • +1

Try at Cranbourne Homemaker Centre Store, they did a price match for my friend without Telstra account.

      • If you are in Sydney go to world square Jb. They are doing it

  • JB won’t price match - when I asked they said “the discount other companies are doing, JB is doing via a bonus gift card” so no double dipping unfortunately.

    • +3

Thats not true for everyone. For the last one i price matched, received the discount and bonus giftcard with no hesitation from the JB staff.

The staff member checked the terms and said 'as long as you have a telstra account'. He then also asked his manager that was nearby and he said ' yes we can, as long as they have a Telstra' account.

I would get them to show you the T&C's for the deal or their price matching that says you cant rather than some of them just saying no because they think its too much of a good deal.

      • Same - price matched with Centrecom

      • Where

  • I did price match to Telstra on the last deal, no objection from the jb staff and fot my $300 gc
    Jb Northland

    • do you have to have an active Telstra account to price match?

  • +1

Seems like a worse deal than the previous where it was $99 per month with $1700 off the price of the phone. Has JB realised?

    • It looks like a worse deal for people that are planning to instantly cancel and wear the fee.

For the people like me that are looking at using the plan for the duration, it's actually better off, by about $40.
($200 higher cost at checkout, but $10 cheaper plan pm x 24 months).
The data/calls seems the same as the previous deal, just cheaper per month.

If, like me, your only option is Telstra, and you require this much data, this looks to be the better deal.

  • When is this promo deal expire?

  • as a current telstra jb plan user (24 month has expired so now month to month) do I have to do the port-out-wait-30-days rigmarole first?

    • +1

You used to be able to get around this by creating a new account with new number at JBs, then walking into Telstra and cancelling your old plan and moving the number across to the new account.

They did indicate to me just over 2 months ago, that they thought this to be a rather unsavoury practice… Forgetting the fact that they are engaging in the unsavoury practice of only rewarding new customers and driving away existing ones.

Does anyone know if this is still ok to do? For those of us that work remotely, porting out for 2-4 weeks isn't an option, unless I buy a boost prepaid sim for the duration.

      • Yes, I did it just a few days ago from the earlier S24 Ultra deal.

I also find it baffling that they'd rather force their existing Telstra customers to port to Optus/Vodafone/etc first (or otherwise completely miss out on the deal), than also extend the same offer to them out of goodwill in order to retain these customers. Seems like a shortsighted strategy of prioritising new customers while confidently assuming that existing customers will just lie down and go "ah well, nothing I can do about it".

I feel zero remorse for exploiting the cluelessness of their staff, if they're going to be like this.

        • Just confirming, you were able to cancel your old plan, and merge old number over to new plan?

Did you do this at Telstra or JB?

My wife is planning to go sign me up to a new contract this morning, so just checking I'm all good.

          • @HiredGoon: Yes, I was able to move my old Telstra number over to the new JB plan. I did this in-store at JB Hi-Fi, based on the workaround mentioned in my post from the earlier deal's thread. After the JB staff member said that everything was done, I swapped SIMs and then opened an incognito browser tab to sign into my Amazon account, just to make sure that I received the login 2FA SMS message from Amazon, which would confirm that the number was correctly ported (and it was).

What happens if I returned the phone? Would I get $1500 gift card?

    • this. I am also curious to know

  • -1

FYI - JB HiFi will NOT price match as stated on their website.

"Exclusions apply for Cashback offers and store credits, bonus and bundled promotions, coupon promotions, grey or direct import products not sold through an authorised Australian reseller, commercial orders, competitor advertising errors, members only or subscription prices, third-party JB Hi-Fi Marketplace products, and competitor clearance products or products with limited or restricted quantities."

    • Which part of that excludes Telstra or Centrecom?
They are selling Australian stock at lower prices, for straight cash. That's a price match

      • The offer gives you a voucher…

        "coupon promotions"

They will not price match if you are using a voucher. I have even asked them personally.

  • Why does the title incorrectly state $687….it should be $1542.59.

    • If you keep the plan then its 687 + (89×24) - 300 gift card.

If you cancel the plan then its 1542 - 300 gift card.

      • +2

So, its TCO is $2523 if you keep the plan and $1242 if you cancel. I would suggest that keeping this on a plan is not a "bargain".

  • what does 'voucher repayment fee' mean on their terms?

  • +1

OK guys, what`s a "Math"? Is it short for mathematic, which is not a word?

  • +1

I got a full cash refund and kept the $300 voucher. Change of mind return 5 days later.
Manager was standing right next to the girl at the counter who also served me when I bought it.

    • which jb?

      • regional NSW, i dont think they sell many phones

    • Cash? Wow you lucky free 800$+ cash plus free Gift card

      • +1

negative qantas points but i'll take it

    • How do you ask for that, Usually I believe the process for a refund is back onto the debit card or instore voucher?

  • +2

Use with caution, every JB now has its own interpretation of the deal.

  • +2

I'm sick of seeing these 24 M plans just to get a decent phone

  • Just wondering, can I price match with this website or what ?
    https://bestmobilephone.com.au/samsung-galaxy-s24-ultra-5g-d…

    • That's International model. They always price match with AU stock.

      • Sorry mate, how can I know if it's an international model or Australian one?

        • Copied from Google

What model number is the S24 Ultra International version?
          SM-S928B/
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Dual Sim (SM-S928B/DS) - 5G Global Model.

        • First thing is model number just google it and second they will not mentioned that its Aus stock. They just mentioned that its Australian business.

  • They’re really making it difficult to get a refund for these phones ,
I don’t think it’s worth the effort unless you’re happy to keep it if the refund process doesn’t work out.

    • Hey, could I ask why the refund process is difficult? I was planning to cancel the plan and refund as apparently that's possible as mentioned by others here. Thank you

    • Returned on another store and got the value as a jbhifi gift card of exact value of $1487 becauae tthe another store price matched but not 100% instead of $300 of price match gap he advised me that he can reduce bu $200 so I accepted.

      • Were you able to keep the additional 300 buck gift card as well?

  • For price matching, probably not buying this, but a bit more ozbargaining…
