They can’t and they won’t. Chill my friend.

The ‘value of the gift card’ is $800 according to the contract you signed, despite it actually being $1700. 23/24 of that is $766.59.

      • Haha yeah, not even sure if he thought he was talking about the gift card that paid for the phone or the bonus $200 gift card!

    • +2

Yep just relax. Jb get given a $1700 gift card to pay for the phone to make it $0 plus the remainder to you, and you pay the termination fee as stated by telstra, nothing else. Telstra are still making money out of this by getting $99 upfront for the month from everyone and gaining the termination fee. Jb benefit out of it as they're getting $1700 to pay for the phone to give to you so they're still getting the money for the entirety of the phone anwyays

No ones at a loss and the ones winning are the ones who need a new phone like myself as I saved more than $400 if I purchased from student education sites which was currently around $1415 for s24+ 256gb

  • Could anyone please explain that Can I get new number or I need to port my own number?

    • +2

      new is ok

    • +1

You can keep your number or get a new one

  • Just like to confirm. Phone is not locked to telstra or any network?

    • nope

      • Nope meaning not locked?

    • Not locked, currently on an optus sim on my new phone and terminated the contract already

  • order still in progress since yesterday

I did this yesterday and got the $512gb model, it is $1,887 so I paid $187 for the upgrade.

Remember the phone doesnt have expandable storage.

I currently have a s20+ which needs a battery replacement. Samsung quoted $110 for that.

Is S24+ a big jump from S20+ for day to day normal use phone?

Spend $110 on S20+ and keep it for another 1-2 years or spend $662 and get S24+ now?

    • +1

I would advise that you get it and if later on you are not feeling it, just re-sell it at a profit, you got nothing to lose here.

  • How is the s24+ vs s10+. The s10 is still superb. 0 issues except its starting to lose charge quicker. Is it worth the upgrade?

  • Got the deal today thanks op. Cancelled though the app straight away no issues

  • +1

I got the s24+ 512gb, i asked about the telstra price match and they gave me an extra $100, since it included the $200 jb voucher. So it ended up being $1787 for me and $87 to upgrade.

  • Just got the S24 512GB, they reduced the price to $1550 so it was $0 upfront - didn't push too hard on the price match although probably could have gotten it down further but since it was below $0 then I don't think he was keen on it.

Felt weird knowing I could get an objectively more expensive/better phone for the same price (S24+) but I really wanted the smaller size, sick of my P7P which is too big (and has other issues)

  • So does this expire today (18/9)?

      Yes….

    Thanks OP.

They wouldn't match Telstra's price, but sold me the S24+ for $0, on a 24 month contract.

Also received the $200 gift card, plus a $13 gift card.

Early termination costs were quoted at $800 if we leave early. Planned to leave before the month is up, so we'll only pay for one month's plan ($99 per month).

    I think it's a great buy.

Now to wait for the price of Bose SE's to drop to use the gift card.

  • Thanks again OP.

Cancelled the number by porting out, and received the final invoice at $766.59.

Great deal. Phone for total cost of $865.59. And also left with $213 in JB hi-fi gift cards.

Any time limitations on when this can be done again?
