Will s25+ have the good cpu?

  • Reading through the T&C it says you need to repay the JB hifi voucher too if you cancel.

yes, that's base voucher, and maximum amount is $800 mentioned in CIS that you will sign.

  • Hi - I gotta ask very sorry . I have both a Mate and a Boost backup simcards - not telstra tho but a longtime account . Is that going to be a hindrance to any of these great work around deals going on OZB. I don't really like doing maybe dubious things but money is very stretched and tech is really my only communication to the world- as negative as that maybe . Thanks in advance . I'm slammed here !

    • +1

Don;t think so, depends on the sales person really, i had prepaid telstra showing under my account and they accepted. However, i price matched to Amazon, which was cheaper than Telstra and did not even need to price match Telstra for S24U.

    • +1
      1. No, doesn’t make a difference about your backup sims.
      2. It’s not dubious. It is not a loophole. It’s the terms and conditions that have been like this for years. You think JB don’t know the financials of this deal and the potential cost involved if people cancel?
  • So you use the $200 GC to pay off the early cancellation fee and the out of pocket price is $662.59? Or you pay $862.59 out of pocket and get a $200 GC alongside so it's "effectively" $662.59?

    • +1

The second one. The fee is paid to Telstra, so can't be paid using JB gift card

  • +1

'You may try to price match Telstra price of $1399 which will further save you $298' - what does this mean when the phone is already $0 upfront ($1700 - $1687)?

Full list of current similar, publicly available, deals here:

I say publicly available because there are currently several deals not advertised. Always ask in store for the latest deals. I asked about Pixels and were told about deals not advertised.

I used this offer just before posted. Can confirm that they provided voucher for $13 balance ($1700 voucher - $1687 phone price). Also, confirm that the early exit fee of $766 done through the chat. Everything was quick. So apparently, if you price match with Telstra for $1399, the balance paid as JB voucher I assume. For me, the sales rep rejected the Telstra offer saying that if I take this offer, they need to order phone through Telstra, in which case, I will not receive $1700 voucher. If you are lucky (like many others in Ultra post), you can get both benefits.
The only mistake I made is the immediate termination, I should have kept the sim for one month data use.

    • Wow okay, so they provided you the exceeded amount as a voucher ($13)!

    • So you get a $13 JB HF gift card voucher + the $200?

      • +1

        Yes, this is correct

        • Can you use the GCs to make another purchace? of the same phone?

    • So should use up the full month of the 1 month that you pay up front and then cancel just before the next payment?

      • I think that should be the best way to go,

  • +1

Shut up and take my money!

  • I always wondering with deals like this, how do we lodge our tax if we use the phone for work? Can we consider the cancellation fee + 1 month as the cost of the mobile phone?

    • Ask your Tax accountant?

  • When this end ? I get picked up tomorrow.

    • Wed 18/9

      • So i can still do this on the 18th. 18th is the last day of this.

  • So can I sign up at JB today and cancel it tomorrow? Or is there a waiting period before I can cancel the plan? Thx.

    • $99 upfront charge is made at store, whether you cancel at same day or 29th day, still the same $99 dollar.

  • I wonder if this will work for the S24 ?

The deal is free phone, so do everything the same, but JB list the price as 1387, so that's the voucher they get from Telstra, if I price match Telstra @ 1099, will I get the $288 back as a voucher?

    Hmmmm

    • +1

All of the current deals were mentioned here

For Samsung S24, it’ll just be $0 upfront on their $99 plan. I see what you mean about not utilising the voucher, haven’t seen anyone reporting back that they got it on the phone plan that has $0 upfront

I’ve done it before on those that specifically said $xxx gift card for any iPad, received the remaining back in the form of gift cards

      • Hmm what if you wanted an S24 512GB?

        nevermind, read below.

  • Can you get this deal online?

    • No

  • -3

Not really worth getting on the plan for this. Always buy outright then hop on to prepaid is the way to go

  • how will price matching Telstra save an extra $298? you are already paying $0 upfront. What am i missing? is the $1700 in giftcard?

      • Unless if we are talking about getting the 512GB model, I guess.

  • Would this work for the regular S24 as well?
Instead of $1700 they have it listed as $0 upfront
    cheers

    • Yes, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work

    • Didnt work for me

      • What was the issue if u dont mind?

        • +1

The managers logic was that… the phone was already $0, so why are they price matching on something you are already getting free on.

Which yeah I guess is valid… Ended up getting the S24 512GB with the $1550 voucher discount, which is pretty good!!

          • @Turd: Ah I see, so essentially the S24 and S24+ will be the same price ($0 + cancellation fee) ?

            • @jp1011: Yep pretty much…

Comes down to how big of a phone you wanted… Mrs opted for the smaller one

              • @Turd: Thanks for the help! I prefer the smaller one as well but I guess the S24+ is the better "deal"

                • @jp1011: Yeah "better" but you know sometimes bigger not always better, mainly personal preference.

I guess in my case the extra 256GB space is better than the extra S24+ 256GB.

          • @Turd:

Which yeah I guess is valid… Ended up getting the S24 512GB with the $1550 voucher discount, which is pretty good!!

Oh did you use $30 perks code or something? It was a $1557 voucher? Edit: Hang on, it's $1550 voucher straight up for the 512GB?

            • @CVonC: Yes $1550 is straight up discount voucher for S24 512GB basic model. Different promo to the two currently on OZB

$30 perks voucher expired last Sunday

              • @Turd: So that means the S24 512GB was $37 then?

@UnnecessarySpendings seems to have price matched Telstra's $1299 price and gotten a balance left on the $1550 voucher?

                • @CVonC: Yeah, he got lucky!!

                • +1

                  @CVonC: I got S24 512gb for 1299 Telstra price, and use the remaining 251$ to fund my s24 512gb Ultra which was 2099-1700-251. I paid 148 and 2x99 for 2 contract, got 2 phone and 2 GC

Can someone please post screenshot of an invoice? Just wanted to see how it looks like, I am travelling overseas and thinking to do TRS claim :). Not from others' invoice, will buy my own, just to clear confusion.

    • The invoice will basically say you paid nothing for the s24+ or $487 for the s24ultra. So the gst will be on that amount.

  • Has anyone been able to pull off the telstra price match and also get the $300 off? Does the counter automatically issue the $300 gift card allowing a double dip?

    • I think the logic behind this (as explained by others) is that if you ask to price match Telstra's price, they will need to order it through Telstra (and their system, e.g. device will be sent out from their warehouse), and hence, the GC promo offered by JB is irrelevant here. Of course, it's worth trying, but I had no luck at the store I tried.

Easiest way to stay renting is to pay $100 a month for a phone!

  • Can this deal be done with the base S24?

    • Yes, someone has shared the link of all current offers and it’s $0 upfront for the S24

    • Get S24 ultra then exchange to S24 and they will refund the difference.

      • No point doing that if I'm understanding everything correctly - the refund just gets you back to square one (-$487 +$487 and no phone)

If you want the base S24 you can just get it for $0 upfront and pay the cancellation fee + first month.
Basically the same price as S24+ except you don't get the $13 extra gc

          $300 GC vs $200 GC

  • How long does it take for the service to show up on Telstra site? Thanks!

    • Never, you have to install JB Mobile app and use Telstra details to login.

      • Thank you, clearly missed the all-important step here :(

Have just purchased an s24+ on this $99 Telstra deal. Will contact jb live chat to see if I can terminate include get a refund on the month for not using the sim at all. Will come back with how I go!

    • Looking forward to knowing how you go. Would be great if you can share a screenshot in case they agree to refund.

        https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/personal/consume…

4.17 You can cancel your plan at any time without incurring any early termination charges for
the service. However, you’ll need to pay:
        a) a pro-rated amount for your last billing period based on when you cancel your
        plan; and

        • +2

Yep! So contacted telstra to cancel and it was the 763$ amount, but unable to get the month payment refunded as it was processing, so unsure if you waited longer in the month to cancel they could refund this. But in the end for a brand new s24+ I paid $863 or roughly that amount. Not bad considering if I used my student education 20% discount it would still cost me just over $1300 for the same phone.

          • @Discoaus: So when you use the $99/month plan, you work with Telstra and not JBmobile? Because I asked JB Hi Fi staff, he said if I cancel the package I will have to pay back about ~$1600, he calculated the rate based on $1700, not $800 as everyone discussed.

            • @phanquy: Contact telstra on live chat yep! They will tell you the price owed for it and its due to be paid in about 10days, so 30th for me

  • Bah! No 512gb stock available anywhere near me

  • Does this deal also work iwth the zFlip phone?

    $1799 - $1200 gift card?

    • confirmed it does.. but $1650 back

  • Hi, I opted to use a new number for this deal.

In the system (JB app) it says the order is in progress.

The new number has been activated.

Does that mean that the order has gone through but the system has not been updated for whatever reason?

    • Same for me. JB rep told me I'd need to wait for the status to change to "complete".
Had to leave the store without the phone, even though I was already debited $99 and sim activated.

      • Same here. Sim active but order in progress.

        Probably a huge backlog.

        All good.

      • Mine took a week to turn complete when I did it for the Pixel deal recently.

As long as you have signed up during the promo period, they have reassured me that it’s all good and you will get what you signed up for anyway

  • Does anyone have what the reciept would look like? Looking to try and claim for work but work only allow claims of the phone cost, not mobile service payments.

    • You will receive the first $99 monthly invoice receipt once you pay (in your jb app).

The other invoice will show the total price. It will show in detail the giftcard etc.

  • Thanks for this! Thinking of picking this up tomorrow! Is it possible to cancel on the same day or should I wait the day after? Just keeping mind of the 18th deadline.

    • You will pay for the first month. It does not look good if you cancel the same or the day after. Keep it cool and cancel after maybe 14 days. Up to you.

      • That's all good! Even after 14 days, the early termination costs and the $99 will remain the same, right?

  • +1

Just adding my 2c here. Hope this helps especially if you are in the Sydney CBD.

I was able to pick up the S24+ 512GB today from the Sydney CBD (not mentioning specifically which store) after price matching with Telstra. However, one challenge I faced was that they said that since the phone cost would be $1599, they could not provide a voucher of $101 for the difference of the phone and the $1700 voucher (you may get lucky if you try but I didn't). So I had to purchase a case and screen protector (albeit overpriced) so that they could apply the full $1700 voucher. Effectively I managed to get the phone for zero cost and after cancelling the plan, will be paying $767+$99 = $866 for the phone and will also have a $200 GC from JB.

    • I tried this but my store wouldn't match Telstra price

      • I guess I got lucky then since the store I went to maybe did not get the memo to not price match.

Did you try any other stores? I would suggest trying others just in case you get lucky on this.

    Samsung Galaxy S24 512GB for total out-of-pocket of $297.

    • Out: $1587 phone
    • In: $288 price-match Telstra
    • In: $1550 gift card promo for signing up to $99/m plan
    • Out: $99 first month payment
    • Out: $767 early termination fee
    • In: $200 gift card promo for purchasing the phone
    • In: $118 TRS

    $1587 - $288 - $1550 + $99 + $767 - $200 - $118
    = $297 out of pocket

Did the same for S24 Ultra 256GB for total out-of-pocket of $593.

    • Out: $2187 phone
    • In: $288 price-match Telstra
    • In: $1700 gift card promo for signing up to $99/m plan
    • Out: $99 first month payment
    • Out: $767 early termination fee
    • In: $300 gift card promo for purchasing the phone
    • In: $172 TRS

    $2187 - $288 - $1700 + $99 + $767 - $300 - $172
    = $593 out of pocket

    It was a good day!

    • -1

I assume you arent in the country now?

Dont forget to declare the items once you return. Tax avoidance is bad mmmkay

      • Going overseas in November with the whole family, so the phones would be under the combined allowance.

    • How did they do the Telstra price match on the s24? Was it an extra gift card back or?

      • They paid for the phone with the promo $1550 gift card. If the phone was $1587, I would have to top-up $37 on the spot.

    • +2

$300 GC is still an out of pocket as you need to spend that. So out of pocket here is $893 that you pay and get a $300 that you can spend on something else. $593 out of pocket would have been correct if the GC could be used to make the payment.

    • Out: $1587 phone
      In: $288 price-match Telstra
In: $1550 gift card promo for signing up to $99/m plan

If they price matched Telstra at $1299 for the S24 512GB, and you said they gave you the $1550 voucher, does that mean there is still $251 left on the voucher? Because @Turd said above, that he just got the phone free and no balance left on the voucher.

      • They didnt let me price match the S24 512GB, due to the already getting it free, as if they gonna pay you $251 for this.
Some places may but I think they shouldnt

@UnnecessarySpendings got lucky, and some how managed to do that, so he must have the $251 remaining on a gc??

      • Yes I got very lucky!

    Hi guys,

can i signup today for s24+ and return it tomorrow (unopened) to get $1700 voucher to use to buy iphone in november?

    assuming i am paying etc + $99

    Ta

    • Try it and let us know…

  • -2

Can someone assist me with this? I'm planning to go into JB today. If i cancel, do i just return the mobile sealed and use the $1700 voucher to purchase the phone after cancelling?

    Thank you.

  • Is tomorrow the last day to do this or today?

    • It says offer end 18 sep 2024, i guess tomorrow is last day.

  • I had an interesting experience with the person cancelling my service where they dropped this after telling me the early termination fee was $766.59:

"The current plan includes a gift card with a commitment to stay on that plan for 24 months. If you disconnect your plan early, you’ll need to repay the value of the gift card."

I then asked them multiple times what would be my final total commitment that will be debited to my card, and they repeatedly said $766.59 and they would send me an invoice for that amount that needs to be paid in 10 days. Since it was a Telstra person I was speaking to, hoping that he was just wrong and that JB Hi Fi won't come knocking for the gift card value at some point.
