    • Which one?

    • All our prices are for 2024 build vehicles…. I found the car you're talking about, and it's a 2023 build. 2024 compliance and the price is inclusive of ABN discount…

      • Will you beat it for the same model?

I've spoken to them and you don't need an ABN.

  • Car discount is back,COVID is long gone.

*cars are returning to normal RRP's

  • I don't get it - why wouldn't you just pay the extra coin and get something Japanese or Korean made?

Here are resale values (and depreciation loss) after 3 years, according to Redbook:

    Jolion - 66% ($9140)
    Seltos - 91% ($2540)
    HR-V - 91% ($2400)

    • Buying a cheap Chinese sh*tbox is false economy.
Not only do you lose more at resale time, you also suffer an uncomfortable, underpowered, unreliable pile of crap the whole time.

Buying a 3 year old car for 91% of new rrp is madness

        • It's not 91% of current RRP, it's 91% of the RRP 3 years ago.

      • Havals are actually the best of the bunch
MG, LDV tend to struggle with quality. GWM/Haval does alright

Highly doubt you can get 91% back on a Honda HR-V after 3 years….

      • Maybe not the current model (which is $35k), but 3 years ago the previous shape was selling for $26,900 + on roads. Another example is the Mazda CX-3 which also retains 91% though it is a bit smaller than the Jolion. Mitsubishi ASX is similar size and is also much better at 86% (Eclipse Cross is 81%).

        • Yes and 3 years ago a 2003 Toyota Camry was selling for 12k

I don’t get why people focus so much on resale value when buying a car.
Do you apply the same logic when purchasing a phone, computer, TV, or furniture?
If return on investment is your main concern, it might be better to invest your money in something else.

It's like people that focus on ROI for solar. Like it is the only reason you can buy it.

I buy a car, I'm keeping it for at least 10 years. No matter what car I buy, I'm expecting 60-90% depreciation over 10 years. Every year I keep it over 10 the more likely it is 90%.

      • If you go with the right car, you're not going to suffer 60-90% depreciation over 10 years. What car are you talking about? A Corolla, for example, only loses 40% of it's value over 10 years.

        • Corolla, for example, only loses 40% of it's value over 10 years.

A quick Google search reveals that is c. 50% over 10 years. This information comes from sites that would benefit from Corolla's holding their value, so might be a little higher then that.

In 10 years time I'm not sure a standard Corolla will still be a second hand car of choice as it has been for the last 10 years, which helps keep a floor on its value.

          • @serpserpserp: Where are you getting that from? Redbook says 42% for an automatic Corolla hatch. But if I jump on Carsales, it's more like 30% with the prices people are asking.

    • You can't apply the same logic for those things you mention, because most of those become almost worthless after just a few years. You accept that when you buy it. With a car it's different, they hold their value a lot better than any appliance would.

And, also, I consider resale on every purchase I make. When I buy a phone, for example, I don't spend $1500 on a brand-new phone, I buy one that's 3 years old for $300 and use it for 5 years or more until it becomes worthless. Furniture tends to be kept for a lot longer than a car would be kept. I tend to buy brand-new PC components, but again, I keep them for a long time - my last CPU I had for over 8 years and it was a small $250 purchase to begin with.

  • Everyone stoked about competition, and hilariously shitting on people wary of the ccp, is doing it with a standard of living that far exceeds that of the majority in that country.

When your bleeding heart extends to reducing all the standards you enjoy, let us know champ. Because thats the end result of playing their game.

  • As long as you're okay with the CCP knowing all of your location / phone details and they will turn your car into a brick on wheels if Australia defends Taiwan.

  • Amazing prices.

    Amazing cars.

Except for some the mis-configured ADAS systems. Like annoying driver monitoring or lane keep assist. But that’s common to a lot of other cars from Hyundai to Nissan, Mitsubishi and others
