rtings
The Samsung S90D/S90DD OLED is marginally better than the Samsung S90C OLED. The S90D is a bit brighter in HDR, so highlights in HDR content stand out a little bit more, and it has better color volume, so it can display very bright colors a bit better. The S90D also has slightly better processing, so there's less banding in colors, and it does a better job with smoothing out low-quality content.

    I love 36DD but 90D will do also… :)

    • Are you talking about boobs

      • +3

Which other 36DD are you aware of?

        • Just making sure

          • @illusion99: Or as I used to write on my calculator in high school 8008135 🤭

  • Any specials on the 55”

  • Keep in mind the matte finish screen, personally I like the idea but its a contentious topic with some people strongly against it saying it reduces image quality substantially (subjective of course).

Make sure you know what you want so no chance of regret

    • +2

I think that only s95d has the matte finish, no?

      • Ahh maybe I'm mistaken, that does sound right. If thats the case I would hold out for s95D

imagine the pain for samsung replace when they find a small dead pixel on a 77"

    • +7

Willing to bet its a lot more painful for anyone attempting to deal with Samsung support. Only company I've ever boycott.

      • Agree with this. On Fair Trading's repeat offender list for very good reason. I had a nightmare of an experience dealing with them on a clear warranty issue. YMMV

Just a PSA that this model is a WOLED and not QD-LED which is the basis of the rtings review. In Australia the 77 and 83 are WOLEDs so just buyer beware albeit this is a great price and may not be a deal breaker for some.

    • +1

Second this, that’s part of the reason why I got last years s90c 77 inch.

  • +10

Be aware that the 77-inch of the S90D sold in Australia is WOLED and not QD-OLED panel. Better of buying the LG C4 for the same price when on special

  • how are these compared to the LG OLEDS eg the G3, G4, C3 , C4 etc

    • +1

Both are excellent TVs. Rtings gives the nod to the Samsung (see link above).
Looking at the 65 inch versions side by side in videopro store, colours are brighter and more vibrant in the Samsung, but the C4 looks great too and has Dolby Vision. And I could get a great deal including a soundbar with the C4.
I found the colours on the Samsung too saturated for my taste, and went the C4. Others might go the other way.

The G4 (and maybe the G3) would be better than the Samsung IMHO, but if you can get one of those at this price I would be impressed.

4k projector at a price less than this makes more sense

  • Thanks op, ended up getting 77inch S95D for $5699 (Samsung pattern program + extra 5% off for first time) , upgrading from a 55inch C1 so can’t wait to see the difference!

  • Are the samsung s90D in the states qd-oled? But in Australis just woled?

  • Hodl for 50% off

  • +4

I think the rtings comparison to the S90C assumes both are QD-OLED panels. Unfortunately with the s90D in Australia you are most likely to get a WOLED panel, whereas with an s90C in the 77” size you would get a gen 2 QD-OLED panel, so I’d probably lean toward the s90C - which was abou $1000 cheaper than this deal recently.

$4k spent into a TV with hardware issues????? Big pass.

Keep in mind that OLED still has burn-in display problems to this day, it is even worse with QD-OLED with this issue rate skyrocketing and personally I would avoid them all.
I play XBox a lot and don't have to worry about it on my QLED.
Neo-QLED is the only TV technology that I am happy to spend $4k into.

So before you spend $4k into such TV, make sure you did your homework properly, including how bright your place is or you won't see sh1t with an OLED TV.

    • Yeah I tend to agree… I was thinking Samsung as I hate my LG OLED has major burn in from playing PS5 and neflix logo so was thinking to avoid LG and go Samsung but they seem just as bad, especially with the misleading panel types and model numbers. I believe the original hype that OLED had no burn in and got burnt…

      • Check Samsung Neo-QLED.
It's better than my QLED regarding illumination pale so why it's more expensive.
But you can play nonstop, watch whatever without fears.

Yet, OLED owners on forums are saying burn in display is a thing of the past haha
