Not sure there is anyone that hasn't already used the 5% first app order by now

    • +4

      Me.

Ps. Incredible deal! People pay more than this for inferior 2nd hand units.

      • +4

Who are these people? Have some inferior 2nd hand units for sale…

        • The marketplace crowd.

  • is this to big for a pc monitor?

    • +3

there's no such thing as 'too big

    • Depends on how far you sit from screen. I use 42" c2 and from 1 1/2 feet screen to eyes distance its very usable, i can play fps games without too much head movement and 55'' will very big for that distance.

    • I never thought of using it as a PC monitor. Ty for that.

    • +1

Yes it is. 48" was just about doable with an 800mm deep desk, 42" is ideal. 55" will end up costing you more in physio bills than the TV's price.

    • I use an LG C3 40" OLED for mine and it's perfect for a big desk.. but still huge. 55" can be used too, but you'd want to make sure you're a good distance from it… for me on a desk, it's too big because you're too close.

    • You 100% need sufficient stand-off distance — e.g. a shelf or a wall behind your actual desk to mount this on. Using a 55" TV when sitting too close will drive you nuts. Assuming you have the space, the experience is super luxurious though, I've been doing this for 2 years now with an old Sony X8500C TV and I highly recommend it. It's a nice change from sitting close up to a smaller monitor.

Also bear in mind that TVs lack some of the built-in niceties that monitors have, such as display sleep — you'll have to manually turn your TV off whenever you leave your desk.

I hear samsung OLEDS are crap

    • I hear they're that crap that you should avoid

    • +7

      You misheard.

    • +2

Don't believe in rumours and go check one out in store. It could be subjective but I found these marginally better (brightness & colour) than LG C3 instore.

      I got 65" S90C OLED and I'm loving it.

      • +5

Got the same and it's insane. Don't forget that the S90C is rated the Best TV on RTings currently, and with prices like this it's literally a no brainer.

    • Boss, Does your logic consider Rtings.com to be foolish?

      • +1

Rtings also seems to be running into a lot of issues with their longevity tests and Samsung panels. I wouldn't drop money on them for that reason - I want my tv to last more than 2 years thanks.

    • Use better sources. I also have the s90c 65” and it’s an incredible set.

  • +2

Ooh this is good price for 55" Oled and its 4k 144hz. I paid same price for 42" lgc2 (4k 120hz) in 2022 which is one of best purchase I made. lets hope by the time i need to upgrade, Oled is even more affordable.

  • +2

great price! how does one get EDU!!

  • +1

    Fantastic price, great find OP!
I have a 55” S95B in my room and love it (even though Samsung nerfed the peak brightness).
I reckon I would’ve purchased this if I had portal access.
    There’s no OLED like QD-OLED.

  • +1

    If only they supported DV

    • +1

This bothered me at first but I forgot all about it. I have an A80J that I frequently use in another room and I can’t tell the difference. DV is overrated considering there’s no TV that can display 10,000 nits peak brightness, let alone 4,000 for HDR10+ (that’s why tone mapping exists to prevent loss of detail).

  • Anyone know what the price of 65 is?

And is this the one of the better OLED or does anyone know a trusted place that ranks oleds?

    • $1949.50, probably better deal with 5% and $100

    • 65" out of stock, but would be $1757 (including $100 TV trade-in and 5% first app purchase discount)

    • +1
      • Ooo what about burn in?

        • has anti burn in features, screen saver kicks in after 1 minute of inactivity

          • +1

@Maddsyz27: I've heard that QD-OLED burns out much faster than WOLED, unsure if its true though.

  • +2

This is a great price! Have this exact TV and its amazing.

  • Do you actually need a TV to do the recycle promotion?

    • +1

any old junk will do, if you don't have one you can find one for free on marketplace

      • does it have to be working? or can i just pick up any tv from the street hard rubbish collection?

        • +3

the delivery driver doesn't care nor check

          • @OzBerghainer: I wonder if they would care if you didn't have one once they show up?

    • +3

Doesn't even need to be in working order. They took mine without checking anything. They didn't even asked for power cable and remote. I gave them remote and cable, when they were about to leave in truck.

  • Will it work as a PC monitor just the same as an LG can?

  • This vs Sony x90L?

    • +1

x90L is not an OLED so its not comparable, A95L is OLED

  • +3

I have the 65 inch version of this TV.
    It is mind blowingly good

  • anyone knows if it works for Samsung GOV store and link if it does. I tried the gov store gets redirected to .com

    • +1

yes it does, im currently logged on and can see the same price as OP posted

      • Cool, Can you share the link to that Samsung Gov store. Cheers!!

  • 9/10 TV for me, upgraded from a Sony X85J; the only downside is that the UI is terrible compared to Sony's Google User Interface.

    • Any upside other than OLED? Does Samsung have better anti reflection?

  • Damn thats the same price as my QLED that I bought 3 years ago! QLED is nothing but a scam.

    • +1

QLED is still just a LCD (liquid crystal display) with additional layer to enhance colours. All LCDs need background lighting (incandescent, LED or mini LED).

OLED on the other hand is totally different display technology with each pixel able to turn on and off on their own without a background light source.

      • +1

Samsungs whole marketing strategy was OLED was poo poo ka ka, why would you buy an OLED when you can by QLED tv. I knew it was LCD when I got it, but the (profanity) need to refund me for what is objectively a poorer display quality than my old $300 soniq.

        • +5

Yes agree, since they didn't had a competitive product to OLED, they came up with deceptive naming and marketing strategy to deceive consumers.

  • +1

How to get an EDU email anyone? Keen for this

      • Need help, just DM'd. Massive thanks if you can help.

      • PM'd you also :)

  • Why this and not the 65" Frame for the same price? Genuine question as Im looking for a new lounge TV but not in a huge rush.

    • +5

The Frame is for aesthetics in the room but not performance, this is amongst the best in class for 2023/24 performance that aren't a super expensive lg c3 or above.

      • Appreciate the clarification. Im looking for a 65+ but the TV really doesn't need to be a feature ao the Frame appeals. That being said, it's still a TV so functionality is important.

  • Can anyone advise how we can obtain access to this portal please?

    • You need Ozbargain Gold membership for that mate. Sorry.

  • +1

Just created an account and you need a .edu email address. Schools, uni's and education staff will have this as their email address.

  • No Dolby Vision?

  • +1

Great price, picked up the 77" from this past deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/850543 and its been a awesome tv

    • +1

      Me too mate. Super stoked.

  • +1

    Bummered this isn't a 65" deal

    • Likewise. What are the chances that the 65"s will be back in stock before 31.07.24?

      • +1

I'd say unlikely as it hasn't been in stock since the last edu deal

        • That sucks.. would definitely be interested in a 65", maybe the 77" if the prices were this good.. I currently have a 55" LG OLEd with horrendous burn in, not going to trust LG again… also finding with failing eyesight that 55" is a little to small. Oh well.. fingers crossed the 65" comes back in to stock though I can't see it for sale anywhere..

  • +1

I bought this for $1800 few months back, awesome picture quality on the tv, made me rewatching all my favourite movies on this. It’s a completely different experience compared to LCD. No problem so far.

  • Hi all! I am really keen to get one of these. Can someone please help me with what to do?

I still have 2010 46" and 2011 40" Samsungs that have lasted me this long still with decent picture quality… but I am sick of playing around with having to get iPhone out to 'choose next episode' etc with basic Chromecast etc, and also looking to get something good quality with 4K to edit/playback some drone footage on (current MacBook Pro setup runs another 2x 2.5k monitors) as I aim to upskill from stills (photography) to motion (video), starting with drone footage. And yes, I'm sure I'll enjoy streaming quality content much better on a good quality 4K screen.

From what I can find out, this is by far one of the best TV screens to use for my needs (Rtings https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/s90c-oled).

I get to the stage where it seems to be asking me for an EDU email address… can someone please help/guide me on what to do next?

Massive thanks in advance, I will be forever grateful! :-)

    • +1

You can also get it through the partner portal, which you can get to if you have a Westpac account (though maybe not the extra 5%). You could open a free account and close it later. Alternatively, it probably works through the government portal if you or someone you know has a government address.

      • +1

Hey MIS. I just opened the specific Westpac account required (Westpac Business One Plus) and gained access to the partner portal however clicking through looks like it only drops to $2663.94, a saving of $635.06 off the overinflated RRP. I guess this means the Westpac portal option doesn't actually work?

        • +2

The other day it showed at the same discounted price. I checked. But today, it's more expensive.

          • +1

@Make it so: Yeah, all good. I think I've decided to go for another Sony now anyway. I know this Samsung is superior and a great proce however I dont particularly need 144Hz refresh plus I prefer the Google OS anyway. Cheers for replying!

            • +2

@SteveAndBelle: It's back now for $1500 through Westpac. Though maybe too late for you…

              • +1

@Make it so: You're killin' me :p I'd just made up my mind to get the Sony due to the 'better' OS however haven't bought one yet… but this changes everything! Hard to go past this Sammy for this price. Anyone comment on it's OS when compared with Google on the Sony?

  • Is anyone having problems paying through the samsung shop app?

I keep getting all the way to the payment page before it gives me a payment processing error.

I first got the error with my visa card and then when trying paypal (the error appeared before it even took me to the paypal page). Samsung support says it must be on my end but that's two payment processes, several app reinstalls and clear data/cache, clear cart AND, most recently, made a different samsung account with a different edu email on a new install where I started with paypal and it failed before even getting the paypal page open.

Samsung support can't process the payment and, I suppose, I could try the main edu website but then I miss out on that 5% which is nearly $100.

    Sighs

    Anyone have any tips?

    • Same, any luck?

      • Yup. Sadly I changed two things ontop of repeating a few of the other things from above.

IMO, I think the main thing I changed that fixed it was the mobile number. While it was just a write in number, I think it got grumpy because that mobile was attached to a different samsung account.

If it wasn't that then maybe because I used a different mobile device.

If it wasn't that then who knows. I tried different cards, different accounts etc

Good luck! Let us know if something works :-)

  • Thank you very much for posting this.
Used my son's uni email for Samsung Edu Store.
Have an old 42" Sony in good order for $100 discount.
And I've never purchased from Samsung before so another 5% discount.
    OzBargain is the best.

  • Picked one up, thanks OP! What is the recommended wall-mount option or does anyone have any good suggestions?

  • +1

For those having trouble ordering this with their phone, like i did, try installing the app on your Tablet, that worked for me! Iphone didnt, IPAD did!. Great Deal! I'll use it as a monitor approx 1.5m away - wall mounted!

    • +1

Thanks! I had trouble getting the deal on mobile and it worked on my tablet

  • How do you guys all get edu accounts?
Can anyone help a brother out?

  • This or box damaged Sony 55" x90l for Quality, specs & value for money please. Thanks

  • Does it work with .org account?

  • 65" out of stock… Not sure if we will ever get the same deal in near future.

  • Thank you OP 🙏
Pulled the trigger and bought via Samsung website. Went through successfully with .gov.au email. I hope it will be more better than the x90l 😅

  • Trade up not available in Tas :(

Worse yet NO deliver to Tas….FFS.

  • Anyone know how long delivery would be to Brisbane? Time, not distance ;)

    • +1

4151 Coorparoo is available for delivery Monday 12th- Friday 16th and Monday 19th- Friday 23rd. I have gotten dishwashers and ovens before; they have always been prompt and great delivery.

      • Yeah, cheers mate. Didn't realise they had a choice of delivery dates. I just ordered mine, woot!

  • top stuff OP, copped at this price cheers!

  • Nabbed one of these and awaiting delivery… wondering if anyone wathcing this thread can answer this for me…

I use a vintage Marantz amp setup with a set of 12" 3-way floorstanders which only accepts RCA inputs.

My current TV has a 3.5mm headphone jack, which works fine here.

I cant find definitive info but it seems some variants of the S90C in some markets have a functional headphone jack - does the AU variant have one (QA55S90CAWXXY), and more importantly, does it actually work (ie actually connected to internal circuitry)?

Alternatively, I believe the model has a 5V/1A USB port which should be enough to power a Digital to Analog converter (ie optical to RCA). do i want to pay a bit more for a 192KhZ or will 96kz sampling support be ok?

    Cheers!

    • for posterity: no 3.5mm jack, optical to RCA converter powered by onboard USB works perfect

  • Sorry, newbie here. I've signed up to the Samsung App but can't seem to find this deal anywhere (ie TV at this price)….

Am I missing something? Thanks in advance

    • +1

you need to have an education email or .gov.au email and sign through the right portal, not the generic way to sign up.

      • hi there, i got the edu email, made an account, i got email from samsung with education store but when i click on it, website opens in chrome, i see the discounted price.
Here s my issue, how do i get education store price in Samsung shop app? On a side note i have lg c2 42" with penal issue(not working essentially), can i trade in not working tv for 100$ discount?
