PS5/XBSX would work well considering they support 1440p and many games are 1440p-ish in performance mode (60fps).
You'll miss out on VRR for games that support it though
It is my gaming monitor (and work monitor).
Yes it's 60fps but it also depends on the game. Gran Turismo 7 is great on it for example.
Curious as to how you can get 5ms refresh from 60hz?
Thanks.
I have a 27inch high refresh rate 1440p monitor that I use primarily for gaming. I was thinking of getting a 27inch 4k monitor to use as my secondary to watch movies and use for ps5 (most games are 4k60fps so refresh rate isn't a priority). Would this one fit my use case?
I have this and use it for 4k gaming.
27" feels a bit small to really appreciate the 4K IMO. Like I go closer to the screen and see better details, which is amazing…
Maybe I just need glasses.
Agreed, imo here are the sweet spot sizes for desktop use at various resolutions:
1080p 23" and below
1440p 27"
4K 32"Gotta say though, once you go 4k can't go back… The sharpness even on a 27" is real.
@smartProverble: Must resist…I will use my Ozbargain favourite Dell S2721DGF until it dies!
@heef: My Dell became faulty which is why I bought this LG!
@smartProverble: Are you going to say the same thing about 8K too?
Nah, 1440p is sharp enough on 27 inch monitor for me.@edfoo: Can't imagine a 27" 4k being sharper 2bh. Id describe it as razor thin sharp.
8k 27"? No need to split atoms.
Wish there was a 27" monitor out there at this price point like this but 1440 and higher refresh rate. I want the colour and size, but don't have a PC to drive 4k and would like to get off thz 60hz
If you don't mind curved, you can get a Samsung Odyssey G5 for $269.
Probably won't be able to price match/beat at Officeworks as it's a slightly different model no.
Get the HP 27q next time from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/859238
Thanks for helping justify my purchase last week.
Just be patient. You'll be able to get 27 inch, IPS, 1440p, ~165hz monitors for sub 300 soon.
For reference, this monitor was $309 recently.
Hmm, I need one with USB-C.
Is there any laptop docks out there that will do dual 4K monitors?
Yes, but can your laptop do it?
Oos
Cool but limited to 60hz which probably counts it out as a gaming monitor
