From my last post. You cant control what you get but many got the LG one.

If the revision starts with l then its lg. If it starts with b than its boe.

    • Good to hear you are happy with the monitor. I will be using it with my Lenovo Legion 5 Pro gaming laptop. I've never had an external gaming monitor. What is the best way to connect it to my laptop if it doesnt have display port? Only has HDMI and USB-C. I am just unsure what is the best cable to buy to ensure I get the best experience from the monitor, as I know that the HDMI port alone is not good enough. Thanks.

It still does work but not up to 165hz. Maybe USBC to display port or USBC directly into the monitor if it supports that

      • Hdmi is fine but Max Refresh Rate Over HDMI 144 Hz. Its not a deal breaker imo.

        • In order to attain 165hz, I'd need to use the monitors display port, and then connect to my laptops usb-c port. What am I looking for when buying that cable. Noob here sorry. All of the hz talk gives me a headache when it starts mentioned 4k, 8k, 2k etc.

          • +1

@chugsta: Your usb-c port has to support a thing called "DisplayPort over USB-C". If it does then you can buy something like this https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt-Alu…

I bought this exact monitor in May, and then ordered that exact cable to connect my Lenovo Legion slim 5 14 to the monitor. Works perfect, 165hz is available.

            • @random-userr: Thanks mate, much appreciated.

            • @random-userr: Here is a review of my laptop.
              https://www.ign.com/articles/lenovo-legion-5-pro-review

              Ports: 1 x Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C, DisplayPort 1.4), 2 x USB-C (USB 3.2 Gen 2, DisplayPort 1.4), 3 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, 1 x e-Shutter switch, 1 x 3.5mm headphone/mic combo, 1 x HDMI, 1 x RJ45

              USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with DisplayPort 1.4 support

Would that cable you mentioned still be suitable for me to connect to this HP OMEN monitor?

              • +1

@chugsta: Seems like it would, you've got plenty of ports supporting display port over usb-c.

  • Isn't it $223.44?

Edit: nvm had this one open https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364361696209

    • This model is FHD.

  • Thanks op. Was looking for a sensibly priced monitor.

  • Is this any good for PS5 and Series X? Thinking of upgrading the kid's monitors to either 1440p high refresh rate or 4k 60Hz.

    • +1

I believe generally speaking 1440p is enough for 27" and 4k is required at 32"

    • Depending what the kids play high refresh rate beats out higher resolution for me personally. Games like Fortnite, Rocket League, most other shooters are so much more appealing on a higher refresh rate, once you go back to 60hz from 120hz it's takes quite some time to adjust, but personal preference is key here

      • Oh don't worry I've been a high refresh rate convert for years on PC, more talking compatibility wise with consoles or is that a non issue now?

    • +4

      From: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/hp/omen-27q

The HP OMEN 27q can't take full advantage of the PS5 as it's limited to HDMI 2.0 bandwidth, doesn't support VRR, and can't downscale 4k signals. That said, there aren't any compatibility issues with the signals it supports.

This monitor has limited compatibility with the Xbox Series X|S. It doesn't support HDMI 2.1 bandwidth to fully utilize the console. HDR doesn't work either, as the console only supports HDR with 4k signals, which the monitor doesn't accept.

      • it'd would support 1440p120hz w series s, x and ps5 right

Bought. Hopefully better than my current Acer K272HUL. The slimmer bezel will be nicer with my flight sim tri-screen.
    Cheers OP

  • Have been using 2 of these in a dual setup for about a month - no regrets.

    • If not gaming (dell is up to 60hz and 4k) its a decent option. For gaming omen for sure.
