that's all you'll get at this price point
yeah, I got excited and then saw the VA when I checked the specs page.
Isn't VA better for these large screens? IPS is rubbish in the tv world. VA much better for picture contrast and quality
VA panels typically have slower response times compared to IPS, so they can have issues with ghosting.
People in British Columbia would be OK with this.
huh? Sorry JV, I'm missing something, what's the connection to BC here?
😲
Vancouver I guess?

Good price… Was expecting $666
For the devil sends the beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short.
I swear, some people just neg because they see your username. Half the time you're saying something stupid and deserver to get negged, but the other half, you either have a valid point, or just mildly humorous.
It's sort of funnier when ol jv gets downvoted for no reason
Also got excited until i seen VA haha. Going to pull the trigger on a second hand lg 34gn850 for $450 near me. Seems like the only decent ips option that isn't super expensive.
There's the viewsonic va3456-mhdj if you don't mind 75hz
Definitely looking for higher hz, thanks though!
Shouldn't expect anything other than VA at this price range/point
Of course we shouldn't expect it, but sometimes you get a nice surprise!
The lower end IPS panels don't fare well depending on what your use is.
@onlinepred: Mostly gaming and youtube. If you look up the lg 34gn850 it's still considered one of the best ips ultrawides available.
@Shanetrain: Seems hit and miss for various criteria against this monitor, namely contrast. I prefer IPS for work, and VA for home/gaming/youtube.
Compared to OLED - VA and IPS are pretty much a muchness now.
May aswell just buy the Samsung G55t 34" for $359.10 when paying with Samsung pay.
Both are VA.I'd pay extra for a decent stand. The Samsung one is terrible
Similar price when you pay with discount eBay gift card.
Can get another $50 off if you recycle an old monitor.
Will never understand how VA got such a bad reputation despite being a vastly superior panel type for gaming and media consumption. LCD TVs are almost all VA type for a very good reason.
It's drawbacks are usually blown out of proportion. I've had my ultrawide VA monitor for 2 years now and it's been amazing for gaming and media consumption.
Personally have a VA - absolutely hate the smearing when scrolling text.
VA motion performance varies depending on the quality of panel. Higher quality panels used in TVs and higher model monitors have vastly better motion than IPS and some even come within striking distance of OLED.
Cheaper VA panels have smearing but cheap IPS panels have crap response times too.
Right? I'm also using a 34" VA for productivity, and it's great.
I would say the lack of PD Type-C port with DP-alt mode is more of a noteworthy omission.
VA panels vary for sure!
My 34 Xiaomi smear isn't great have tried all setting.
However my kids pcs with Lenovo Legion R25f-30 VA from Aldi is great, would love 34" with same lack of smear and improvements.I think it's the larger variation in quality found in VA panels.
Poor quality VA panels are really bad, but it's hard to come across a bad IPS panel.
In absence of a review, IPS panels are usually a pretty safe bet for what is reasonable picture quality
I'd take some smearing over horrendous contrast and black uniformity which all IPS panels except the very high end have.
no 4k?
No such thing as ultrawide 4K unless you spend $1500+. As a consolation, ultrawide 1440p has the width of 4K
Code doesn't work.
Might only be for Ebay Plus members?
Works perfectly for me - I'm not an Ebay Plus member
What percentage of games actually support ultrawide? Do you get black bars at the side if ultrawide is not supported?
you'd have to go back a ways to find one that doesn't support 21:9. GTA IV does for example
It varies, because some games support the resolutions, but some things will break or just look terrible because the view is set to the width of the screen. I've recently started playing The Witcher Enhanced Edition, and cutscenes were broken when playing at 21:9, so just had to switch to a 16:9 resolution with the black bars. Doesn't really bother me though.
Yes on the black bars. Whenever a game doesnt natively support 21:9, i go to pcgamingwiki dot com, and nine times out of ten they have a solution to get it working.
Pretty good price. Got my Dell S34DWG late last year and it's fantastic for casual gaming and WFH. I think that panel is a bit better than this one but at sub $400 for an UW, high refresh rate monitor, it's pretty great value nonetheless. I did some research before I got mine and noticed a lot of monitors don't get this bright (400cd/m) which I find to be a real bonus working in a brighter room.
As someone who uses IPS, and wanted to transition to VA and i knew the implications of VA and i honestly don't know if im being dramatic but VA made me feel like throwing up when i was playing games. Sucks there's not too many Ultrawide IPS monitors.
Shows OOS now
Panel type is VA for those who are concerned.
