            • @mac2403: I mean I love a good 28D/Coles price protection claim too as much as the next guy but don't go ruining it in such way - I'm still just waiting for the day they cancel all our policies because it feels out of conctr for a select few (including myself)

              • @Shadowsfury: Haha yeah I think the same. Not trying to ruin it for anyone but I think they have accepted the 20k loss (policy limit) for the remaining customers and probably will just let it run until we all max it out. I'm guessing it's a very small number of customers left. I'm also pretty lazy with claims so need to be more opportunistic haha.

                • +1

@mac2403: $50K max for my Coles card! (so far only claimed $9k), so even if I max my $2k claim limit per year that's still 20 years remaining haha

  • Codes from the previous $150 email are still active and now show expiration 31/8 with a $200 discount.

"Sorry, that code doesn’t exist or is not applicable with this purchase" — tried the code received on 21/06 (exp 31/07), not working for me.

      • Strange..
        Just checked again.. G54 A35

        Code from email 21/6 "3GB…"

This discount code can be used once per customer. Code expires 31/08/24, unless extended or withdrawn.

  • A35 looks good, thanks :D

picked up a moto G84 the other day but haven't opened it as I was reluctant to get onto the motorolas. will return

    • did you get the G84 from amaysim? i dont see it as listed on their site?

    Whats the code?

  • Both parents have affected phone and kept getting the shut down messages but using those dial codes floating around got them over the line

Haven't seen any codes come through yet (I put my email in amaysim account) - how do the codes come?

    • Email

      • Thanks hopefully just being released in batches

    • What do you mean by dial codes? The fix to make the phone work after 3G shut down?

      • Yeah these codes (copied from elsewhere but are the ones I used for my parents phone:

Enabling VoLTE on the mia3 to survive the end of 3g involves punching some codes in.

        ##86583##

Should yield a message ,- "volte carrier check disabled" .
This enables volte. Works on optus, vodafone I hear, but not telstra.

##869434## for VoWiFi then enable wifi calling in settings.

  • How do they check you are. New customer? I used to be on amaysim till October last year

  • Do I understand correctly:

    The hardware is unlocked
The selected plan can be cancelled by the subscriber after a month

    All without penalty?

    • This is how I understand it too. I believe we are correct. Min $30 plan add on is unavoidable but only happens once at the time of purchade the device and plan bundle if you turn off the Auto Renew under the setting.

  • Are these phones unlocked? Or locked to Optus network? Recently I helped my friend to get her locked 4G phone unlocked in a Vodafone store. It's free to unlock it. Now she uses Optus.

    Edit: Unlocked phones :)

  • got lucky with the $150 promo last time, but not this time. my guess is that you only get $150 last time OR $200 time time, if you are targeted that is.

    • The $150 promo code from the previous email still works, but now gives $200 off instead.

I'm the original poster of that targeted Amaysim deal. If you haven't used your code yet then I may know of a possible broden trick (unethical, i know) that may or may not work but you're gonna have to trust me.

    • I trust you

    • To be clear - I don't have any codes. I stumbled across the glitch when I used mine at the time of posting the deal.

      • Curious 🧐 I'll trust you.

      What is the trick…?

    • please let me know

This isn't so targetted in reality. As long as you are an Amaysim customer, they will be happy to share a code with you if you contact them. Samsung A35 for $129 is a great deal I reckon.

    • I contacted them and they told me it is targeted. I might try again.

BTW, I do have active Amaysim service.

      • They didn't ask anything more when I said I have a phone that's affected (they asked for model details of phone, of course). I mentioned that my service will be affected and I need to buy a new phone so a promo code could help (didn't say I missed it earlier or anything). This was good enough.

        • I tried asking for a code to upgrade my phone and they said current promo is for those affected by 3G shutdown and their system shows that my phone is not impacted. so no code for me.

          • @lansi23: Of course, it's meant for customers whose phones are impacted (as per their understanding).

  • Previous cheapest G54 was $149 JB hifi perks….

This is the new lowest at 109

Is Samsung a35 sell by amaysim is a dual Sim version?

    Anyone can advise?

I googled seems like most info refer to that this unit is a dual Sim, (2x nano SIM)
Just making sure Aussie doesn't released their own single Sim?

  • -4

Everyone talking up these codes but not one is posted ?

  • +2

Went on live chat to ask about the codes

They gave me one almost straight away for $200 off

I have two plans with them however so asked for a second one - they said one should have been sent via email (maybe it was but at the time it didn't click and perhaps I deleted it). They gave me another code saying it was the one in the email that I couldn't find - was for "only" $150 off though.

Will definitely be picking up one phone, the other if I don't use will share via the code request megathread.

    • the phones you were using are effected by the 3g shutdown?

      • Yes - 2x Xiaomi Mi A3

(well they claim they are impacted and keep getting the SMS/emails about it, but with some dial codes I think I got them working again, have set reminder to recheck on shut-off date and am ready to replace if they really don't work.

    • +3

Confirming they seem pretty relaxed about handing the $200 codes out. Went on live chat using the account I have my 3G dashcam service on, and in under 2 minutes was offered a $200 code without asking.

      • Is it available to new customers, or just to current customers? Maybe I’m gonna try to opt in :p

        • +1

No idea. The speed at which the chat agent offered the $200 code suggestd that they didn't even look up the account to see how it it was.

The interaction was along the lines of

Hi. I'm using an amaysim service in a car dashcam that is 3G only. Can you advise if that will be affected by the 3G shutdown.

What model of mobile is that?

It's not a mobile, it's a dashcam in the car.

Can you text 3 to the number 3498 and tell me what the response is?

Sorry, no, I can't send texts from a dashcam.

Did you receive an email with a discount voucher code?

          No, I didn't get one.

We can't resend it but I can provide a new code for you here.

          Sure.

A few seconds later, code appears…

I have had the service for over 12 months, but as I said, it didn't feel like they had time to check anything.

If you give it a go, report back here and let us know how it went

          • @tshepherd: Sounds great, I will give it a try. Thanks, mate.

        • +1

No , can confirm via phone call . Existing customers only .

  • $600 for a Pixel 8 is tempting, wonder if it's worth holding out since it might get cheaper with the 9 coming soon…

  • Hello, my parents received the 3G shutdown message from their Woolworth mobile connected Huawei Honor Play 8A.
Could somebody please explain step by step or confirm if the following is correct:

    • Purchase "UNLIMITED 32GB" plan for $30 (currently $10 until August 13 according to amaysim website)
    • Once it arrives register the Sim in old phone and wait for device to be detected.
    • Then check registered email for promotional code and purchase phone from their store.
    • Sounds like a plan

    • will it work if I buy one of those $2 amaysim SIM only card and activate it? so that I dont have to wait for them to deliver if I buy from the website?

  • +1

Question for those who have bought a new phone using $200 or $150 coupon code - if you don't need a new number/service, is it fine if you don't activate that sim at all (and hence no need to stop auto-renewal either)? All I needed was a phone but I had to order a SIM with the first month's plan ($30) along. I am thinking of simply discarding it without even activating, so I don't need to bother about stopping renewal etc.

    • +2

Nope, I never open my sim pack at all, but seems they automatically activate the service and set it up as auto renew !!! Till end of the month I received an email saying they can't debit money off from me (as I already removed payment method from my other existing sim service there)

So I quickly login and switched this new service to PAYG, so Amaysim is very dodgy on this, they should never activate the sim automatic like this !!! So be careful and make sure either you remove payment method, remove auto renew or switch over to PAYG before th month expiry.

      • +1

Cheers. I should stop auto-renewal in that case.

  • Anyone had a dispatxh/tracking email after placing an order? How long did it take to receive?

    • Usually a day later after an order is placed. Via a separate email, both invoice and tracking number.

    • Ordered Monday night around 10pm. Email with tracking number received Tuesday night around 9pm. Delivered Wed morning 10am.

  • Jumped on chat to ask for a code, only available for accounts with a device flagged as 4g incompatible. Put my sim into an older phone, not sure how long it will take to show up, but will update when I know.

    • @Lofty248 how about contacting them again on chat after putting the sim in old phone?

      • I did, it wasn't showing up in their system and they can't update it from their end, you can text '3' to '3498' to see what phone they have stored for your number.

        • @Lofty248 I thought this SMS will respond with whether you’re impacted or not

          • @Shahw: Pretty sure they use that system to decide if you get a code or not

    • Their system updates once a month. Usually towards the end.

      • @TomGum does that mean if you put a sim in the old device just for few minutes and take it out, that won’t update their system?

        • TomGumNope, had mine in for 24hrs now with no luck, rep at amaysim said 5 days.

Thanks @TomGum couldn't find any info on how often they update

  • I just got one! Had to chat to Amaysim. Thanks!

  • A35 ordered. Thanks :-)

    • Hello Arcticfox, where did you input the voucher code? I got a code but it doesn't seem to work for me. Cheers.

      • +1

        Hi there,
Once I selected the plan and added to cart, I was given two options:
        1. I'm new to Amaysim
        2. I'm already with Amaysim

I selected option 1, then continue.

There was then a section that said "add a promo"
I selected "change" and then put my $200 voucher code in there, replacing the one that was already there. Once loaded, the price went down to $129 (with the plan included.

        That's all I did bud :-)

        • Thank you for your help!

  • Has anyone tried to get a new account and ask for a code?

    • @Lofty248 I have tried multiple times without any luck. Initially I didn’t have a service with them. Then I purchased their $10 PAYG and the sim is still on the way. In short, they can’t offer anything until the sim is inserted in the device and their system identifies that you’re impacted…

      • Hey @Shahw, did you have any luck?

        • +1

@LostyJai I have tried almost everything. I inserted the sim in iPhone 4 on Friday and received an email of around 1pm today about the 3G shutdown but no code yet. According to them, the code is auto generated and as I started my service this month, so they can’t offer the code. But I may still get the auto generated one. So, let’s see what happens in next few days.

          • @Shahw: Oh damn, I also went and bought a $15 sim hoping to do the same… will wait a few days and maybe try the chat. Hope it works for you!

            • +2

@LostyJai: Put the sim in the phone asap and wait for the shut down notice first and then hope for the code email

              • @Shahw: @Shahw, yep I've done that.

I keep checking if my phone is in their database by texting "3" to "3498", currently says no phone.

Once that is updated, I'll try the chat and pray. Bless us with a voucher oh bargain gods…

                • +1

@LostyJai: Text to 3498, its response might still be outdated. I mean, I’ve received the shutdown email even though response from 3498 isn’t updated yet.

                  • +1

@Shahw: 3498 is now returning the phone that was detected on 9th August. Hope you have luck with your $200 voucher!

                    • +1

@LostyJai: @LostyJai, yes, it has started to show that. So, my guess is, their backend systems get updated on Fridays whereas it takes few more days for the SMS system to respond with correct status.

But no code email yet. Shutdown date has also been pushed forward, so I guess we’ll receive it by that time.

                      • +1

@Shahw: Thanks for the update and I hope we both will be eligible. Please keep me posted if you manage to get one! :)

                        • +2

@LostyJai: I’ll update when I receive the email.

  • Anyone found away to reduce the $30 plan fee?

      • How do you get it for $10 during the handset purchase?

        • This is my understanding and process I'm following:

First you buy the plan, SIM arrives, activate it, cancel automatic renewal (if you have a preferred provider), insert into 3G device and either wait for it to be detected by amaysims system (5 days) or start a live chat to request the promo code. Then purchase handset as an existing customer to enter code (before 31st August expiry).

You cannot purchase the SIM plan + device as the promo code is only for existing not new customers.

          • @Cobblestone: I asking using the $200 code, is there away to reduce the $30 sim fee.

            • @TomGum: The $200 code only applies to the purchase of a new phone for existing amaysim customers who will be affected by the shutdown of 3G. The $30 sim fee is currently on sale for $10 if you buy before the deal expires.

So buy the price reduced plan separately and then when purchasing the phone select the option to login as an existing amaysim customer to avoid paying for the combined $30 plan.

              • +4

@Cobblestone: You actually can’t buy a handset without paying the $30 plan fee regardless if you already have a service. I’ve tried.

                • @TomGum: I'm currently awaiting my SIM to arrive in the mail before I can try to purchase the handset, ordered two days ago so I'm yet to test it.

But that certainly doesn't sound right as when I choose the option for "Use an existing amaysim plan" below "Choose your mobile plan" on any of the phones in-store the plan is then removed. If you're at the stage to purchase a device attempt that option and check your cart before committing. Otherwise try live chat with an amaysim rep or another user here may have a better answer than me.

                  • @Cobblestone: I’m in the same boat as well. Still waiting for the sim to arrive. I purchased the $10 PAYG and will see how it goes. Not sure if PAYG will be fine or I may have to subscribe to a $10 plan before purchasing the handset. Does it have to be a minimum of $30 plan? I know it’s reduced to $10 for few more days. There’s another $10 plan as well which I plan to continue.

                    • @Shahw: From what I've read on here other members have mentioned the "Unlimited" plan is required. Somebody said they purchased a $2 SIM from Woolies but it wouldn't work without a recharge. Live chat told me the promo code is for existing customers without any specifics but would not confirm if it was for pre-existing customers or newly existing customers so I gauged all available info and took the $10 gamble.

                  • +2

@Cobblestone: Existing plan is terminated early and the price of the bundled SIM is added total- result was the same for either existing long expiry or $2 SIM.
