  • I find you can just plug in your aux cable into one of the two ports in airline seats and it will still work. Maybe I've just been lucky.

It works to some extent but it's annoying as it needs constant adjustments every time you move.

But you only get the left or right channel

      • Comes through both sides of my headphones each time I tried.

        • Are they mono by chance?

          • @bboz: Nope.

            • @Lucille Bluth: Ok don't know then. We just travelled and forgot the adaptor and the sound was only through one side

              • @bboz: Interesting. I've never had that happen to me and I travel quite a bit for work. I find it's only mono if I haven't pushed them in far enough

I just thought the 2-pin audio jacks was just an anti theft thing so people were less likely to pinch them.

    Airlines don't need these anymore

You will be surprised, I still needed one on one of the latest A350's.

    • They are certainly on the A380

    • People don't need these any more. Why would you want to get audio from the plane, instead of your own phone/tablet/laptop?
Just give us USB-PD and wifi please!

Because sometimes you're bored and you mindlessly scroll through the infotainment and randomly stumble across a movie you've not much considered before and think "I'd give that a go" and then you're stuck with their crappy headphones even though you have your own awesome ones already in your ears.

        • The crappy headphone they have are usually just 3.5mm with the included adapter you can just pull it out and use it with your own headphones there's no need to buy the adapter

    • Qantas still use them annoyingly

  • +1

Every flight I've been on with inflight entertainment has included a crappy pair of headphones that have one of these adaptors plugged in the end. I just pull off the adaptors and use my own headphones.
