    • "Your first bill will be discounted by $225.00 for gas and electricity each"
This line disappeared after my account got set up. I don't know if they still honour it.

      • +1

They should. Happened to me last time.

  • asked live chat and after getting my address, the rep said I would get the advertised discount ($225 of each). Signed up and Printed out the conversation in case.. let's see how it goes. NSW.

  • Churned away yesterday, couldn't access my account to change to a cheaper plan. It seems like a new scam AGL are orchestrating.

It seems like this is common, as even those who signed up for AGL mobile were stung by this…

Does anyone know if we sign up through econnex (via shopback) if we are still eligible for/get the $225/fuel?
    Cheers

  • I received the credit $225 (electricity). It’s been only 5 days since it’s up and running.
This morning I received a sms from Energy Australia (the previous retailer) that they don’t want to lose me and will ring me shortly to see if they can match the offer. Anyone received this kind of offer? It’s getting hot in the energy competition.

    • +1

I was with EA and i spoke to them before joining AGL.

All they could offer me was a $50 credit hahah..

    • +1

Same. Didn't pick up their call. I don't think they can match in any ways.

  • I just signed up to this and got the $225 credit already. If I change from my current plan (Value Saver) to their EV plan (Night Saver EV) do I still retain the $225 credit?

    • I asked the online Chat, they said no, you'd loose the credit.

      • I was told to switch after the first bill. Its been two bills and i am scared. I could not get an answer for the life of me as chat people didn't understand the question. They kept giving me EV plan details. But the credit is applied after first month if you switch to monthly billing then it should stay i suppose

  • AGL just applied the cost of living rebate. Do I have to stay with them till the rebate is fully adjusted? They stated the rebate cannot be refunded

    • The rebate can't be refunded if you stay with AGL. If you move to another provider, they'll refund the cost of living rebate

      • I'll move next week. Thanks

    • Did you get the $75 each quarter federal government rebate already?

  • +1

Anyone got the previous $200 credit for electricity and churned out and back in to get this $225?

    • Yep.

    • Can also confirm - worked on my side.

  • +1

    Thanks this is great deal.

  • Do people still get credit if they have got credit in other AGL promo within the last 12 months ?

    • I think so? Pretty sure I got it last time and this time, within 12 months.

      • +1

Thank you! I’ll give it a try. Electricity bill comes monthly, if no credit, I can switch again.

  • The link seems to not work for me, i get stuck at the page asking for driver license or Medicare, says to try in 24 hours after exceeding tries

  • Did anyone else get electricity moved from single rate to time of use after a week of transfer to AGL? The peak is almost double the single rate between 2-8pm. I was previously on from my old provider (anytime rate) and they just sent a letter saying that they didn't realise the type of meter at the property and charges being adjusted.

What to do now? I wouldn't have changed to AGL if I knew these electricity rates

    • I have a family member who was already an existing AGL customer and they also got the same letter a couple of weeks ago about the change from Single rate to Time Of Use rates. It said something like the contract pricing structure had to be changed because the information about the type of meter at the property was only recently advised to them by the distributor.
So I guess whoever has a Smart Meter will eventually be put on the Time Of Use structure regardless of whether they are a new or old customer, with AGL or another provider. And I think the people that still have the older traditional meters will continue on the Single rate by default.

      • Oh no. Peak usage @ about 60c kwh is too much

    • I received the following email shortly after signup:

There's been a change to your electricity account

When we provided you with a confirmation letter for your energy plan we didn’t know how your meter was configured as we haven’t recently provided energy to your address and we were unable to retrieve the market data in time. Now that we have these details, we can confirm your meter is configured for Single Rate Tariff structure and we will charge you the same rate for every hour of every day and your new rates will reflect this.

  • At what point in the signup process do you know whether you're eligible?

    • So I signed up and they make it pretty obvious you'll be getting the credits.

I can't see how this is targeted as I've never been with AGL and went directly through the OP link.

    • before you confirm the signup, there's a page that says you'll get $225

  • does anyone know if you will still keep the $225 if you hop over to the netflix one and claim an extra $100?

    • Better of hopping somewhere else (E.g. Momentum for $250)

  • Can this be combined with cashback?

  • Do gas only connection get credit too?

    • +1

Appears to be the case…..been with AGL gas for 12+ months.

Used the link above to change plan. Sent me confirmation with $50.00 credit/rebate added on my account.

  • I started the sign-up process but didn't complete the application at the submission stage. I received an offer via email a few hours later for a $40 digital Mastercard if I finished signing up within 48 hours

    • Did you end up signing up?
Do you reckon they still honour the credits, although it says targeted?

      • +1

Yes, it's not targeted. Used completely new info to that which I was signed up beforehand (diff family member, email, ph etc)

        • Thanks mate, I shall proceed then 👍🏻

  • I just signed up for this as a new customer without receiving a targeted offer. Confirmed $225 credit for electricity in NSW (Ausgrid).

  • +2

I just checked my electricity bill i was expecting $225, however both Gas and Electricity only has $204.55CR - anyone of you seeing the same?
edit - dont worry it is showing ex GST. will leave it here if anyone wondered the same

    • That is correct. my $50 inGST credit ended up being $45 credit

    • Same amount.

  • Did anyone stack the $450 credit with the $30 cashback from ShopBack? Would bring the whole thing up to $480 in credits for switching back. Doesn’t sound too bad given the usage rates themselves are also competitive for my area.

    • Answering my own question. Did not go ahead with the cash back as it would use another referral link. Maybe could have done it and stacked with the 450$ credit via calling AGL but was too lazy to do that. So just took the $450 offer and signed up.

  • +1

Note that AGL charge customers peak TOU rates during shoulder seasons when Ausgrid (Sydney region) doesn't charge peak rates. I inquired about this and had to escalate before I was given confirmation that this is the case, as the support staff aren't even aware of it.

So they're making extra cream during the shoulder seasons, which may explain the timing of this offer.

    • Second this

So here is my experience with this. I know that in the T&C it says no credit within 12 months. So I thought I'd try it any way and managed to do the following.

I switched to AGL and got the $225 Credit. Covered about 1.5 Months of electricity.
I then took up the $50incGST credit on switch to a plan. Which is about half a month. Credited in next bill.

Then went to Powershop for lower rates and 10 day cooling off period. And within 2 days I got a call from the AGL win back team to swtich back and was suprised they offered the $225 credit. And yes Ive confirmed over the phone AND in email that I will get the $225 as win back credit.

Plan to switch to Powershop agan in about 1.5 months and see if its a glitch in their process and polices.

  • The offer seems to be updated to $225 credit in total ($175 for electricity, $50 for gas).

    • Yeah, I noticed the $225 each for Gas & Electricity disappeared. I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time (end of Aug) and got the deal. No idea how they make money from it! I'll recheck Electricity rates once credit is used up although current isn't too bad (Flat rate as no smart meter here) . Their Gas rates (for me at least) are actually the cheapest so may end up staying.
