That’s a $225 credit per fuel (electricity and gas) on your first bill when you switch your home energy back to AGL. Or get $50 per fuel if you’re already with us. Credit offer for NSW, QLD and SA residential customers.

From T&C:

Get a one-off $225 (GST incl.) credit per fuel (electricity and gas) on your first bill when you sign up to this plan direct with AGL as a new or moving customer. Or get $50 per fuel if you’re already with us and switch to this plan. Offer for residential customers in NSW, QLD and SA only, where AGL operates. cries in ACT

  • What happens to the $300 government credit which I still have not gotten from my current retailer if I switch to AGL? Do I get it from AGL on top of this $450 cashback from AGL?

  • Anyone got $450 ? I called up AGL and was offered $150 for electricity and $50 for gas (Total $200). The agent said that the offer is no longer available. I am in SA

    • +2

NSW here. Signed up tonight. Showing $225 credit for first bill for each service via MyAccount. I am a previous AGL customer.

      • Anyone got inside information when this sign up bonus deal expires roughly?

      • I am a previous customer as well. The advertisement says SA is included. Trying to chat with them after the call.

      • Finally managed to get the discounts. https://imgur.com/unA6UO5

They offered another $100 one time discount on energy bills ($50 for electricity + $50 for gas) if I bundle internet. Currently $59 for 6 months (100/20 plan). After that $89. The reviews for AGL internet look terrible. However there is no lock-in contract.

  • “That’s a $225 credit per fuel (electricity and gas) on your first bill when you switch your home energy back to AGL. Or get $50 per fuel if you’re already with us. Credit offer for NSW, QLD and SA residential customers. See full conditions.”

So I just joined literally last week to get the $200 credit with agl, what’s this $50 credit then? Am I expecting them to give the $200 credit from last month promo and then give me another $50 for this promo?
And it I don’t get a $50 credit should i message them on the app?

I tried to do a sneaky with them saying I signed up for Westpac offer ($100 Mastercard gift card) but I did it via econnex (via ShopBack to fe true $108 for electricity) and they said they could offer me only $50 card but I would have to change the plan 🧐

  • +3

yeah this is a dodgy post, i signed up via the website and called to confirm the deal I got.
it was $225 on the elec and $50 on the gas, they asked for proof of the page and screenshots which I sent and they told me its not a public offer so all ill get is $225 and $50

  • check the usage people. I noticed a higher bill and they sneaked in about 30% unexplained usage for the last month.

    • How did they sneak it in by 30%

Did they disguise as increased usage?

      • It showed correct gas meter but then there was extra charge in the breakdown adding up to more than the usage.

        • You mean they increased supply charge without telling you?

          • @ATTS: nope so lets say increase in the gas meter read is 100. I was charged for 130 in the breakdown. Took me a couple times but they've resolved this pretty quickly. weird error probably due to estimated readings.

            • @Usemame: Oh thanks

So i remember before with analogue meter they use to come like once a year to check the meter for accuracy.

Curious did the error happen on a smart meter or the older analogue meter?

And what did they explain was the cause and how did they end up fixing it?

Did they fix it remotely or had to have a visit to your home?

            • @Usemame: Also did you verify the discrepancy by taking the reading just before the billing cycle and just after the billing cycle to confirm the usage breakdown?

  • Any deals in Vic? My power company just sent me an email saying they are jacking the prices on my plan about 30% from August 1st

    • Just got the same from Globird today as well.

      • What is your plan of action? Leave now or wait to August 1st

  • any idea when this offer expires?

    • I called them and they said that it's over… And that it was over a few days ago. WTF

  • Sad that I cannot get this as a new customer, are people calling them to get the offer?

    • Thats what im wondering, some of these comments are new sign ups so idk how

    • Strange didnt the op post

Just tried to get this deal as haven’t been with them for 2 years. Gave me an error when trying to sign up so tried my luck on chat to which they replied this “The credit amount has been reduced to $150 credit for electricity and $50 credit for gas”

So no thanks, not at their terrible rates and daily charge!

    • That's what they told me too.

And then I told them abut the web page still being available. As in false advertising.

I gave up in the end… Waste of time!

  • +1

Okay, this is confusing. I jumped on the offer and signed up, and then read the comments that I'd only be getting $100 for electricity. I have never been an AGL customer.

Well, I just logged into my account and it says:

    "Sign up bonus
Your first bill will be discounted by $225.00"

    For both electricity and gas

So yeah, damn good, but it doesn't match other users' experiences. I'm in SA.

    • Can you tell me where in your account you're seeing the "Sign up bonus. Your first bill will be discounted by $225.00"? I can see my new plan activated but cannot see info about the bonus

  • Jumped on this in Vic. Haven't been with AGL for over a year and just logged into my new account and it says I'll get a $175 bonus for each of electricity and gas. That should take some of the pain out of the electricity rates!

  • +1

Great internet deal AGL nbn home fast 100/20 is $59/month for the first 6 months when bundled with electricity. Ongoing is $89/month.

Home Ultrafast nbn 1000/50 is $109/month for the first 6 months

    • I almost clicked go button but after read some feedback from Reddit, I stopped and chose Superloop.

  • I was already with AGL for my gas. They rang me and offered me this deal for both my gas and electricity. The gas rate was better and electricity was only slightly worse than origin but my 12 months with origin was almost up so assuming they would’ve increased the rate anyway. Am in NSW and it says $300 credit on each of gas and electricity but unsure if that includes the $75 from the govt

    • How much they increase the rates btw?

    • I just signed up too and got the same credits showing in my account. $225 each for electricity and gas.

  • +1

Chatted with AGL while logged into my account, told them I wanted to switch providers but would stay if they gave me the $225 credit same as current deal. They applied the credit to my account right away….

    • lol my gas account is currently in the process of churning over to AGL using the velocity deal.

I contacted chat and told them to cancel the cutover as iv been given a $200 credit to stay with my old provider and if they could match it I would stay.

I got told "best we can do is $50" hahaha.
I ended up cancelling and will sign up to gas under my wifes name.

      • Contacted them again asking if i could just sign my gas up and get the credit, even though I already have an energy account.

        "No problem".

Hahaha really depends on the agent you get.

Saves me the hassle of doing a churn under my wifes name.

    • Did the same and no luck. Told them I was going to switch to Momentum for $200, if they could provide the offer to stay. Said i already got a sign up credit so no dice.

  • So is this deal only for previous customers? I was with AGL more than 15 years ago at another address. Would this count as being a previous customer?

    • +1

just sign up, theyre letting new customers get the credit anyway. take a look at the comments above.

  • I just sign up as a new customer, will see what i get. But the T&C clearly state that $225 credit is for new or moving customer so AGL should honour what they advertised.

    • And if all else fails, contagt agl and cancel the cutover (if you dont want to continue with the lower credit).

  • +1

I signed up yesterday via the link, and today my account was created. I the. registered for an online account and it shows “Your first bill will be discounted by $225” for both Electricity and Gas.

I’m in NSW and have not been with AGL previously.

    • Thanks so not just for existing customers

  • +1

After i signed up, received an email from AGL. I set up my account and when logined, i can see it said under sign up bonus that $225 will be credit to my first bill. Note that i only have electricity

  • Signed up in QLD, got the $225 credit in my account. Electricity only, new customer.

  • +1

I just got this offer as an existing customer through the online chat. All I said was that I have been approached by another provider. They offered $100 for each at first, I said I was still considering switching and they returned with the full offer. Took about 10 minutes, totally worth the time.

Damn that sucks, I must have been lucky and got a decent consultant. Joseph was a real one.

        • Thanks for sharing your story

I dont get how this can happen with big companies

I remember there was a fee to unlock a telstra i phone a while back

Some agents from telstra wouldnt do it for free other agents would do it free

Always wondered how this happens for such a big company

  • If Im currently on time of use tariff - does that mean I’ll also be on time of use if switch to AGL? Website is only giving me one rate

    Im with Ausgrid, postcode 2077

  • Can anyone confirm if its 225 credit with no expiry date, or discount for the 1st bill only?

    • Can confirm first bill

    • If you don't use the $225, the remaining rolls over to next bill as credit

  • Does anyone know if you leave and come back under significant other/partners name if you’ll still get the credit?

  • +4

I applied at work then got distracted by.. actual work and didn't finish. Then by the time I got home I got another offer via email of a $40 prepaid Mastercard to finish the application.

    Bargain.

    • So you'll get the $225 x 2 credit + the $40 prepaid mastercard? Might give that a go.

      • Yes it was about two hours later the email came. I am not sure how far I got, I put my license # in but not sure if I submitted that page. I have the $225 credit too.

The email sent me back to the identity verification page.

        Email:
"complete your sign up online in the next 48 hours and remain on your chosen plan for 30 days and you'll be eligible to get a $40 Digital Prepaid Mastercard®*."

        • I got that too. But I'm concerned I'll get $100 and bot $175 per fuel (for VIC).

Did you end up getting OPs offer?

          • +1

@kehuehue: I definitely got the $225, I can see it in my account.

            • +1

@CaptainLeezee: I got the 175$ as well cheers (VIC), waiting to see how and when i get the $40 prepaid card

  • here i am at home… Talking to them on the phone… They said that the offer was ended a few days ago.

but they can offer me $50 credit for gas (existing) and $150 for electricity (switch to them).

    No thanks.

I'll switch to an aussie owned company after that experience.

  • I am chatting with AGL and their staff said the promotions is still on. They are signing me up atm

    • Did they say when deal ends

      • I didnt ask…

  • +1

I got the origin $200 on 1 July, looks to be non-refundable so need to use it up before I churn to avoid losing it, bummer!

  • I signed up electricity and gas a week ago to the Westpac $200 + $100 prepaid Mastercard offer (which was only for electricity). I have just managed to get AGL to apply $225 credit from this new offer to my gas account (had to cancel the gas sign up from last week and re-sign up but was all OK because in cooling off period still) so hopefully I get a total of $525 saving. Amazing. Thanks OP!

    • +1

      I did this too.

Agent told me that the gift card would be accessible after the first bill.

    • I signed up this $225 bonus for my elec and then chatted to agl asking for the Westpac promo $100 gift card. They didn’t allow to stack

      • yeah that seems about right.

I signed up using the westpac deal for elec only, then used this deal to move my gas over for $225.

    • Where is the $200 Wpac offer, i only see $100 credit + $100 GC

      • It finished on 30th June. There was a deal posted here about it.

        • Thanks!

  • What about the $300 energy rebate? Does it also come to the AGL automatically?

    • What is this 300 energy rebate?

      • +1

The gov energy rebate to win votes for next election

        • Oh so future rebate? Not active yet?

Also any links to the rebate? Or name of rebate?

So does that mean there is 2 active rebates?

So the 500$;per year and also the $300 per year?

Also no need to apply for the rebate? Also What is embedded network ?

There’s no requirement to apply for the payment, which will be applied from July 1, unless your household energy is supplied via an embedded network.

          • @ATTS: I haven’t got anything yet from my current provider EnergyAustralia

    • +1

      Yes $75 per quarterly

      • Thanks

      • did anyone receive first $75?
got email from orgin earlier said it would apply on August bill, but didn't see.

  • Signed up to momentum $200 2 weeks ago.
Should I use up the 2 months worth of credit (low usage), or switch now? Or wait for sometime and hope the deal still exists?

  • I called up yesterday and was advised the deal had finished end of June and they tried to offer a much lower deal to me. After the phone call, I signed up using the link in post and have since received documents for my electricity and gas, with each stating $225 credit rebate. Don't bother calling them to check.

  • Anyone tried to stack this with ShopBack as a new customer?

    • I stacked it with topcashback. It tracked, will see if it pays

  • Does it mean we have to stay in contract with AGL for 12 months and cannot switch to other provider earlier than 12 months?

  • Signed up for gas only using the link yesterday. Received an email today with the details of my plan which shows an upfront rebate $225. This is more than a quarter of free gas for us and the rates are better than our 25% discount Flexy plan with Energy Australia

  • Got the upfront rebate (VIC) 175 + 175.

Just waiting for the $40 mastercard as well (waited 2hrs and they sent me the email)

  • Not sure if other people have experienced this, but when I got my first bill, I was meant to receive a sign up $200 credit.

Instead what happened is they provided a credit less the amount generated by my solar for that month. I had about $20 of feed in tariff, so they credited me $180 as a sign up and added the two together and said I had a $200 credit for my first bill. Very strange, would have thought they would give me $220 in credit to account for sign up plus my feed in?

    • +2

      The credit is ex gst

      • You are quite right. It is ex-GST and by almost pure coincidence my feed in tariff was the same amount as the GST amount!

  • +2

FYI this is still working as of today.
Went in and did gas first, setup as "new" customer, also tried doing through topcashback as well.
Got "Sales Order Confirmation Email" first.
Then: "Your online services are available NAME"
Setup account/password and when logged in, shows: "Sign up bonus - Your first bill will be discounted by $225.00" under the gas section.

Basically re-signed up again using same link above, picking electricity only, picking new customer.
Got the same "Sales Order Confirmation Email".
Logged out of AGL account, logged back in then it said pick elec or gas account.
Picked elec and has the following: "Sign up bonus - Your first bill will be discounted by $225.00"

  • +1

Signed up 2 minutes ago with the link in the thread.

I can confirm it's still working - no need to chat to support as long as you sign up using the link in the thread. I selected both gas and electricity at time of sign up - so no need to sign up individually.

I am based in NSW. Received the $225 credit for both gas and electricity immediately (reflected in my account)

  • Once you sign up for $225 promo does anyone know if you can get another $100 sign in bonus by changing plans? I can see this as a option when you select change plans

  • Signed up.

When I login to my AGL account it says:

Your first bill will be discounted by $225.00 for gas and electricity each.

What happens if my first bill is that of $100? I forfeit the rest of the credits?
