Big W sales suddenly jumped unexpectedly
I just bought a $100 Woolworths Grocery card and received a $10 bonus Woolworths card in seconds.
I was frustrated with rejected payments from my Amex, CBA, and Zip cards in my PayPal and Google Pay accounts, with a nonsense error message saying, "Cannot verify address." 😤
The HSBC Visa Debit card was accepted. 👍This is what I received from their customer service

I think what this deal confirms is that everyone hates Big W. Woolworths Group reading these messages and realising they should just close all those stores down

This is terrible advice… best to double check your $10 bonus in everyday rewards wallet to know what it can actually be used for.
You make it sound like if you don't add it to everyday rewards it remains woolworths GC which is not true. People who do not add it and blinding go to woolworths to use the GC will get a shock at the register.
I have absolutely no idea WTF some of you are doing, but I simply purchased the gift cards, then printed them out (and took screen shots).
When I go to Woolies, I simply click on GC at checkout, scan the barcode, enter the pin, and presto!It even says that in Prezzee's How to use this card! 🤦♂️

The everyday rewards app has a wallet function so you don't need to print it out/screenshot and then bring the print out to the store to scan.
@Snoop I would be surprised if you can use the incorrect bonus $10 gift card at Woolworths even if you don't add to the Everyday Rewards app. It is incorrectly labelled as Woolworths by Prezzee. The numbers on the gift card correspond to a Big W gift card starting with 834 in-store use. Woolworths gift card starts with 721 in-store use.

True, but Woolworths Bonus Store eGift Cards I have received through Prezzee in the past have used 833 or 836 as the prefix. That is probably more relevant to this conversation, considering the terms and conditions currently state that the bonus gift card for this deal was supposed to be a Woolworths Bonus Store eGift Card.

Did your bonus Woolworths gift cards from Prezzee have an expiry date? I don't remember getting a bonus Woolworths gift card before or converting to one.

You generally can only get a Bonus Store eGift Card as a bonus gift card through a temporary marketing promotion (e.g. bonus gift card deals that Econnex offer from time to time), rather than purchase one (or exchange for one on Prezzee).

Yes I did but the agent didn't address the expiry date. I suspect the incorrect Big W gift card will be cancelled and the $10 Woolworths gift card will be issued.

According to the T&Cs in this promotion, the Woolworths bonus gift card has NO expiry date but the Big W bonus gift card has a 3 month expiry date.
I remember in the Big W and Myer previous deals, the bonus had 3 months expiry. Not sure about other deals as I have used the bonus cards and can't check.
@prankster: have seen promo's with a 3 month expiry on a woolies card several times and it is in the extended info / T&C's for this deal too.
If you can't spend $10 at the supermarket in 3 months, why are people even buying a $100 card? Leave it earning 5.5% interest in the bank or whatever.
@nismo: I’ve got the previous deals but I think it was the generic $150 get $10 bonus gift card as opposed to this being specifically you have to buy $100 woolies to get $10 bonus card
Anyhow as you said once the issue has been fixed, will be definitely using the $10 bonus card at woolies within the next 3 months

I dont trust prezzee. Last time I purchased a woolies gift card with the similar deal but they didnt issue me the bonus gift card.
They said, although the bonus gift card was shown as available when I was making the purchase however, the bonus card allocation exhausted by the time the payment processed.
They didnt honor their mistake and didnt issue a bonus gift card.

you should have just cancelled it, i've done this before when i forgot to put in a promo code and had no issues.

Adding the GC to the app doesn't "use" it so no harm in doing that - I guess they will end up sending a proper Wollies gift card to all folks that received the BigW gift card, best case you'll be able to use both
I wouldn't use the Big W GC before you get sent the new $10 woolies GC tho

I contacted Prezzee and spoke to one of their staff and they were as surprised as we were as to what happened with the bonus. They have had numerous calls about this (took me almost an hour to speak to someone) and they have contacted Woolworths who are investigating and fixing this issue.
At this stage we just have to wait and see what response we get from Prezzee once they know themselves what is being dome to rectify the issue.I got a most unsatisfactory response:

Prezzee did a bait and switch. I don't care if the fine print always said it was a Big W 3 month expiry gift card. The fact is the big print said it was a no expiry $10 Woolworths gift card which they decided to change after the fact.
It's not about Prezzee being human and making mistake, it's about a fundamental change to their offer after hundreds of people took them up on their offer.
I rarely shop at Big W so I'd have to go out of my way to do so now.
You will find its not a fundamental change, T&C's are the final say. Marketing images & words are often incorrect (in this country).
You can keep barking on the internet or at prezzee, but unless you are lucky, they aren't obliged to give you something outside of what the actual offer is.
Over and above that, why do you need a $10 gc to last >3 months?

@nismo: I don't need it to last more than 3 months, it's more the principle.
The world would become a pretty shitty place if companies reverted to a weasel clause that overrode clear and overt marketing. No court or tribunal would rule in favour of Prezzee in this circumstance. They may not impose a penalty nor mandate corrective action but this is clearly deceptive and misleading conduct. Marketing clearly made an offer that was significantly more attractive and then retracted that offer.
@10101010101: You can report it to your local state and territory consumer protection agency, if it concerns you that much.
However, it is more likely they will just refund the $100, and void the gift cards.
So that's no $10 bonus.So if principle means you don't want a bonus $10 gift card, then you should definitely complain.
@nismo: The T&Cs prior to the update did state there was no expiry on the $100 gift card nor the bonus $10 gift card. The fact that they've since updated their T&Cs shows that they had misleading T&Cs
@nismo: That's actually incorrect. T&Cs don't override advertised sale. Otherwise retailers would say one thing and hide other things in the T&Cs. If they advertised no expiry they MUST adhere to it under ACL. Or cancel/fully refund. But they can't change the advertised goods/services.
