      • Depends on the rep I guess. I wasted my time going in store since the first rep i spoke to said there was nothing he could do, then the in store was sold out so I tried online again. Just posted link for the SC and asked to price match with SE - he immediately fixed it up for me

        • +1

Surprised no one has used it as of yet.

          • @Castcore: Probably because it asks for @yoquierotaco's phone number.

            • @veetor: I think it's gotten too many clicks from different IPs cus it didn't ask me before. RIP, probably go to waste now.

EDIT: Nah it's because someone claimed it. It'll be their phone number not OP.

              • +1

@Castcore: yep, someone claimed it but didnt post here. I've upublished the link, but original comment is here:
if anyone wants to order it online, I didn't have an issues getting the SC for $164. They wouldn't let me use 10% though. Here is my cart if anyone wants to use it (link removed)

  • So what is better SE or SC?

    • +1

SE (left) vs SC (right) https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/bose-quietco…
Which is better depends on what aspects are more important to you.

      • +2

probably a better link for most people, https://www.soundguys.com/bose-quietcomfort-headphones-vs-bo…
people asking are unlikely to know what they want

        • These articles are always kind of junk to be honest, like for starters a bunch of the pros and cons are just arbitrary bull that often applies to both of them.
          Both have USB-C.
          Both don't have aptx.
          Both can't turn off anc.
Both use the same bose eq app so I don't know why its a pro for one and a con for the other.

The real reviews/opinions are often on reddit.

          • +1

@Castcore: agree, but for most people it's all they want. They just want to be comforted that the SC is the same or better than the SE

  • +1

I went to Forest Hill store to pick mine up and they were selling the SC for $169 for anyone coming to the store asking about SE

    • Do you know how many SCs they have left?

        • I just spoke to their live chat, they were quoting me $285 and wouldn't budge

          • @EveryDollarCounts: Try again and see if they’ll let you talk to Hammad (that’s who I spoke with). Alternatively, just call a local store with stock and get them to put one on hold for you :)

    • Yep, can confirm. SC selling for $164 in-store only (if you can find the stock).

  • Just picked mine up, kind of disappointed with the sound even after equalizing them. Guess it's all personal preference when it comes to headphones, I must say the noise cancellation is amazing though!

    • Think I read it somewhere saying that it needs some kind of "warm up". I'm no expert but maybe that could be a thing.

      • Yea I'd actually agree with that statement.

    • Is it possible to return after opening ?

      • JB Hi Fi wouldn't allow unless defective. Easy to resell at cost though

      • No idea…. happy to keep these solely for plane journeys since the noise cancellation is awesome!

      • +2

@ozshuttler wrote their JB store offered them an opened box SE so they’re clearly taking them back.

        • yes, can confirm sighting the two returned SEs with a green sticker that has the reason for return selected as customer change of mind.

    • They sound worse when the microphone is in use.

The Bose QC45 SE show up as two devices in Windows:
      Headphones (Bose QC45 Stereo)
Headset (Bose QC45 Hands-Free AG Audio)

They sound great when I select this device for playing a video or listening to music:
      Headphones (Bose QC45 Stereo)

I have to select the following device for audio/microphone to work at the same time:
Headset (Bose QC45 Hands-Free AG Audio)

      • Sounds the same for me when connected via my iPhone or through my laptop…. To me it lacks something, I'm not an audiophile but I know what I like. As I said though, sound is a personal preference :)

    • +1

You never buy Bose for sound quality. Often audiophile forums joke that BOSE stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment

      • The Bose sound system in my Hyundai i20 is epic so I don't totally agree with that statement. Just these headphones to me are mediocre.

        • Have you listened to high end Hi-Fi?

  • +1

The Bose app for Android treats the Bose QC45 SE as QC45.

Comfortable over ears so far. They seem a bit more compact compared to my Jabra Evolve2 85 headset.

Charging is super slow. I guess that's good for the battery life (<0.250A).

    Audio quality is pretty good.

    Microphone is okay.

Switching between multiple devices by sliding the button is a bit hit and miss.

  • +2

Just picked up the SC for 147.50 plus I used gift cards that I got 15% off last year which brings it down to $125.37! Bargain!
You need to go in store to use the perks code. They won’t do it online.

    • did you do it instore? I spoke to live chat, they wouldn't go lower than $285. That was their 'best' price

      • +1

Try again with a different agent. Bit of a hit or miss as some do not price match for you

      • In store. But here’s a link for anyone who wants it. I got a price match then went in store to scab an extra 10% off.

Starting to notice the jobless junky look these scalpers have, most are boganish, the ones that give no consideration of surroundings and only come out of their holes to destroy
So basically jb workers but wearing hobo clothes

    • Thanks Sir David Frederick Attenborough

  • +2

Thanks Op! Asked nicely for the SC version for $164 and got them via live chat. Wasn't able to use the 10% perks code though. What a bargain! This is $297 at Myer. The SC version is the latest model with soft case.

    MODEL: 884367-0900
    SKU: 676965
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/bose-quietcomfort-sc-over…

    • I asked them to set it at 146.5 and showed them email that jb manager said I can apply the code 10%. Rocky mistake from manager, lol.
      No code still same discount

  • Ordered online yesterday, clicked and collected two from JB Hi-Fi Brighton.

  • Just picked up my $147 order. Invoice says 45 SE but they gave the Quietcomfort SE which I'm guessing is the same.

    • I just picked mine up as well after putting in the click&collect order last night.
My box reads Bose Quietcomfort SE Headphones (the SE are qc45s with a soft case instead of the hard case, apparently the SE stands for soft envelope https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15315803/redir), I assume the SCs should have that labelled on the box instead.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Order has shipped. I was waiting for a deal on the XM5s and this was too tempting to pass on. I guess it's a good interim upgrade from my Bose 700s.

  • Got the SC price matched in store. They didn't have any left so arranged for me to buy it there (inc 10% perks so $147) and pick up at my local store…. in another state! Great service.C&C receipt received in 5 min.

    • You're lucky! They refused to help locate a SC to be delivered to my local store since they didn't have stock.

  • -1

it's always a good idea to check the comments after purchasing!

got SE last night but checked comments today and decided to also get SC while it's hot. I'll grab both and make the decision later on lol

    thank you Ozbargain

    • try them back to back (after making sure both firmwares are up to date) and let us know if there are any differences!

      • nah I'll just check reviews again carefully. sounds (no pun intended lol) like SC which is newer version is more bassy which is what I really like, so I will keep it and return SE's. but will double check things first. I will keep boxes sealed for easy returns

SE was a delivery order, coming in a day or two, it's on its way

  • I have a link to SC for $164, feel free to use it if anyone interested

    https://direct.jbhifi.com.au/ZLAQPY

    • can't. Have to confirm mobile number.

      • They never asked me the mobile or account details. Just link from chat.

        • Probably already been used that's why and now linked to whoever placed the order

  • Nice…JB Live chat honoured the $164 deal for the SCs for me. Already have the same headphones coming from Myer for $297 (which I won't open and will return), and the SE's from the Harvey Norman deal last night. Keen to try them both and see which ones better suit my needs (and maybe just keep the others as backups).

  • queue position:72 , Jbhifi chat

    • I call them and got through straightaway, they just sent me text to purchase.

      • may i know what to ask nicely ?

all good, when i say bose headphone they know already

    • same happened to me took about 10 minutes

  • we're in boys! just got the link after waiting about 30 mins for the chat rep

  • Bought the QC SC got email confirmation saying "Estimated delivery by 26 Jun 2024 with Australia Post. We’ll send an update when your order is on the way."
anyone else got the similar ETA?

    • +1

      7 June for me.

    • is it worth extra ?

  • -3

don't be jealous. but… i went to pick up my 2x pair from Melb Central after click and collect order last night.

my order was 'misplaced'. i was/am very charming. upgraded to 2x bose quietcomfort with $549 price tags.

    "sorry for the inconvenience"

    A+ result!

    • ozbargainer of the year for that lol

      • Why? All they got was a hard case and evidently, a hard on.

        • Oh I thought they got the ultra’s lol

    • you made an account just to tell us that you were charming and not to be jealous??

    • You sure they’re not the quietcomfort sc’s?

      • -2

100% certain. Bose Quietcomfort… $549 on the tag.

my only gripe is they're not the ultras…!

        good luck everyone

        • +2

So you got a hard case in other words. The QuietComfort is exactly the same as the QuietComfort SC which was selling for $164 today except with a soft case. Nothing to get overly excited about.

          • +1

@1r4n14n: some people get excited or hard over hard cases

  • I got a confirmation for pickup this morning and another message saying to call. I called and they told me there was an allocation glitch and they had to cancel my order. Shuttled around a few reps and final rep told me there was nothing they could do quite curtly and that they'd refund me. Bummer.

  • Here is the link for someone for the Bose QuietComfort SC Over-Ear Headphones For $164 if someone wants it

    https://direct.jbhifi.com.au/8BTZBB

    • Thank you!

    • Says maximum tries reached 😖

      • Tzeeman got it. There is only 1

  • Went in to Marion SA store at 5pm. Predictably no SE stock. Wouldn’t substitute with SC. They found 1 pair of SE’s in another store. Would not transfer. Had to pay today and I have to pick them up myself (30km round trip some time soon).

    Could use perks 10% off.

Pick up will be interesting- I’m not expecting a walk in walk out simple process.

  • Just got off the live chat from 150 in the queue. Got a link to SC for $164. CS told me that they've been authorised to sell SC for $164 today until midnight to everyone who contacts them and that they're on backorder until 25 June.
I had to get it delivered as no stores have click and collect stock in Melbourne metro, nearest is 200km away. So total is $169.99 including $5.99 for delivery. No other coupons work in the direct link.

    • +1

wow I made a good call earlier today then. while I was waiting in the chat queue (was around 4pm) Southgate sold out, and closest to pick up was Melbourne Central. ordered and got "ready for pickup" confirmation within 2 minutes. immediately went there, picked up and wearing it now. this is a deal of the century

      • @shabaka
how is it? good quality? bass? comfy? honest reviews please.
do you have Sony XM4 or something else similar to compare it to?

        • I had lots of wireless cans. previously I had xm4 and before that Bowers and Wilkins PX7 (original), and now also PX7 S2e.

out of the bunch, PX7 S2e have the best sound overall, but their ANC isn't as solid. probably I am going to keep 2 pairs: SC and PX7 S2e. SC have a very good ANC, will probably wear them at work and leave them for commute, while PX7 S2e for more critical listening. I can definitely hear lack of high definition codecs on SC with my S24 Ultra as a source. XM4 at least support LDAC and sound a bit more clear. but these ones have a decent sound signature at least, and don't sound as muffled as XM4, although like I mentioned due to lower res codecs lack definition. I would definitely keep these instead of XM4

but I guess XM4 is kinda best of both worlds, good ANC and high res codecs. for me it's 2 devices so far

yes with everything in sound profiles reset to default, these sound quite bassy

          • @shabaka: thanks for the review/reply mate… I myself already have XM4 [refurb], that's why was curious to know if QC SC would be any better.
I prefer the one with more bass & solid sound. was a hard decision to buy as I already have XM4….

    • That’s lucky I was in the que at 80 but once 8pm ticked over seems like live chat closed for the day

      • Didn't realise they close at 8pm. May be try to ring a store if they can place an order over the phone.

  • I have absolutely no need for it but FOMO kicked in and gave them a ring 5 mins ago. He sent me a link via mobile and you only pay and get it delivered…worth trying to ring on 135244.

  • Jb chat offered this for $164 instead: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/bose-quietcomfort-sc-over… . How is this compared to the one out of stock.

  • +3

I decided to go ahead and get these as have a few longer overseas trips coming up and have been looking for a while, and this price is a steal. Honestly, not that impressed. I only think they are worth this price, I would return them if I paid 300.
I've been using in ear qcy ht05s for overseas trips, calls, public transport and the noise cancelling is more than adequate and while the sound quality is worse, for ~$20, the price step up to the bose (at $300) definitely isn't worth it for me. Also think I prefer the freedom of the in ear plugs, just far more comfortable.
I won't be returning the Bose, as they are worth the $150 paid for longer trips in business or premium as I won't have my head up against a window which doesn't feel comfortable with over ear headphones.

    • Completely agree with this comment. Absolutely nothing to be wowed about, particularly if you own the AirPods Pro 2. For long hauls though, they’re worth the price paid.

  • Went store and it seems there is an internal email offering the SC at $163. 10% can be applied and bought two.

    • Lucky you, the website clearly states 1 per customer.

      • Lol how is one person able to have two JB perks coupons lol 😆

        • +1

He was happy to put two in the same transactions, but I asked if they can be done separately as one of them is a gift. He applied the 10% for me on both. Quite happy and thank you ozbargain

  • +3

QuietComfort SE = QuietComfort 45 2021ver with soft case
QuietComfort SC = QuietComfort 2023ver with soft case
    QuietComfort 45 2021ver = QuietComfort 45 1st generation
    QuietComfort 2023ver = QuietComfort 45 2nd generation

So if you have both of them, just return the old SE version.

  • So SC is newer version? Slightly better than SE I guess.

    • +3

March 2024 v4.0 firmware update now has made SE to have all the app features that are in SC. So practically the are the same except for 2 hours less battery. Who knows they could be the same now lol with the firmware upgrade.

So anyone getting a SE make sure update to latest firmware.

      • Some stuff online to say they dropped the battery life advertising on se from 24 to 22 to try to boost SC sales, who knows, for real world use they're probably exactly the same except for the case
