I gotta say BYD were great with that last year, the byd performance was $50 over the limit to be eligible for the $3k rebate in NSW and 1 day after orders were open they reduced it to $50 when I asked. Tesla not so great as I asked and was met with a firm no.

  • +2

    How is this ozbarginable?

    • -1

It's ozbargainable as it's not OzRRP

      • So a 1.36% discount… QUICK! Take my money!

  • Thanks. Bought one

    • Can you screenshot the receipt

      • Done. Officeworks can hopefully do a pricebeat 🍻

  • soy consoomer car

  • -1

    $10 million to expensive.

  • +1

    Wow a whole $1000 off! I'll take 10!

    • +1

If you buy 76 in NSW you can get another for free with the savings!

  • Muh iTesla, soyboy tech vehicle. Look ma I can control it with my phone.

  • +1

Here we go, one fanboy posts a deal and they all come out of hibernation.

    • +3

Despite getting free fuel I do prefer driving my Tesla. The power and acceleration alone is worth it.

      • I like it coz I can go swimming/jogging and locking the tesla using an NFC ring so I don't have to leave my keys/hold my keys. Haven't found any other car that I can easily buy a NFC ring for.

    • The hibernation lasted less than a day. Didya see the model y deal recently?😀

    • Did you get 1 in black and the other in white?

        • They don’t even do those colours

  • That's a huge saving guys

  • 🤣

  • +2

    Worthless after 1 year.

    • You mean %100 depreciation after 1 year?

      • +2

he forgot his space bar after the first 5 letters

        • They are frickin iphones on wheels. Dealers will not even accept for trade in's. Worst buying decision ever. Market is crashing. Hybrids are the future.

          • @johncaus: I've seen old iphones sell for more than brand new non-iphones. Let alone for zero dollars, the definition of worthless.

          • @johncaus: You mean like a petrol engine attached the booty of a old horse in the beginning of 20th century right? Yeah for sure :)

Dealers?? What dealers?? Most successful future automakers will abandon dealer model.

    • +1

I have a model 3 13 months now still going strong

  • -1

$72k, not bad but I'll take my 2006 Mitsubishi 380 on LPG that I bought for $4500 in 2018 instead. After factoring in insurance costs, I think mine is cheaper to run despite running on a fossil fuel.

    • Absolutely. Drive your existing car as long as you can. But once you have a crash write off or breakdown then buy a good EV. A good EV outlasts your lifetime in most cases. You may not need the Long range now but after 15 years after losing 30% of designed capacity after all the fast charge abuse your EV will still be good for you.

    • Can't beat free charging but by all means if u like playing for fuel go ya hardest but i like free travel

      • I don't like paying for fuel, but my LPG costs are 2k a year + insurance costs of 300 for third party. If I had this Tesla car, my fuel costs would be close to zero, but insurance costs would be over $2300 because I couldn't afford to lose the car and would need full comp. So running costs would be higher overall.

Of course, EVs are also great because of the climate change mitigation impact.

        • my charging is Free and its costs me $0 a year. Service cost for a tesla is about 100 per year, which includes all maintenance cost.

  • -2

Are we still pretending to save the environment when buying a tesla, that uses child african slaves digging in cobalt mines with their bare hands to make the batteries? Interesting

    https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2021/nov/08/c…

    • The SR versions of 3 and Y are Cobalt free.
      https://electrek.co/2022/04/22/tesla-using-cobalt-free-lfp-b…

      • +2

And how will those depleted batteries be disposed of at end of life ?

        • Tesla have a recycling program for dead batteries

        • And it is always better to reduce-reuse-refurbish-repurpose-recycle in that order(applicable to everything).

EV batteries rarely do deplete fully and mostly should be usable in home or industrial storage applications. Most probably multiple business cases will arise as the supply of used EV batteries are in abundance.

    • So… Just buy LFP model and you stop the hand-wringing about cobalt? Cool, cool

    • -6

For starters its Africa not Australia you should care about this country not other ones, i wouldn't give a shit about other countries and what they do. Also much worse crap has been done by companies in the past. How do u think apple products are made?

      • -2

And here come the Africans neging me lol.

    • +1

Most new EVs have no cobalt.

    • +2

same cobalt that goes into the magnets for earbuds, drill bits and lots of other consumer goods. I don’t think africa has a monopoly on cobalt.

      • You would be wrong. Congo accounts for more than 70 percent of the worlds cobalt. 2000 people there die yearly in the cobalt mines, most workers are children using no ppe and digging with their bare hands and feet.

If you want to see the child slaves sky uk has a short clip on yt: https://youtu.be/JcJ8me22NVs

So its a bit much when people larp as saving the world while at the same time not caring that thousands of basically slave workers including very young children are dying to make it happen

  • Do evs require special tyres ?

    • +1

Yes they have reinforced tyres for the extra weight about 300 to 500 bucks a tyre

    • no, but some modern cars don’t come with a spare tyre anymore, regardless of if EV or ICE, they have emergency repair kits.

    • Yes. because the EV's are so silent that normal tyre rolling noise will feel amplifed. So EV tyres got a lining of foam which makes it absorb that noise. Other than that it is more like any other tyre.

Model 3 tyre price can go from 169 to 450 depending on the brand. And you can have some discount if by in pairs or quads. Not different to any other purchase.

      https://www.jaxtyres.com.au/tyres/search?searchqrytype=Vehic…

That is only after 50k or so for normal driving. And by that time there will be even more variety of EV tyres in the market. So why worry?

And all those scaremongering about EV tyres cost, EV tyre pollution etc are just horse sxxx coming from frogs in wells in utopia.

  • Performance model 3 is going to be released soon wait for that

    • I reckon at least half a year before any au customer gets their hands on it. 🤞I'm at the front of the line. Also it's called ludicrous

  • um

  • Doesnt car prices usually rise with each facelift or update? ooh, I'm sorry, I forgot this wasn't a car. it's more a fancy electronic gadget on wheels. But hang on, don't iPhones etc also go up in price with each new model?

    • Doesnt car prices usually rise with each facelift or update
Tesla has been following top down approach.
You can wait for next model which will be cheaper than this

    • you must be thinking models, manufactures make a range of models in different price points, usually not much uplift in price for cosmetic only features, it’s why they add other stuff like better cameras to set apart from older model in a range. tesla gigapress and one piece floor
pan will be interesting as it will cut production costs for the cheaper model, they are working on.

  • $1000 leas than the price 7 months ago. .. how does this make it a bargain ?

    • -1

Define bargain. And I never said it was a good bargain 😉

    • It's a new model with upgraded Camara like a iphone

    • +1

That's better than the OzRRP deals posted all the time, i.e. basically all of Aldi.

    • +2

Mate, this website allows people to post that ‘x’ movie is coming to ‘x’ subscription service as of ‘x’ date. If that qualifies then $1000 off a well known car qualifies

  • Thanks. Didn’t buy. Saved $72,700.

    • +1

No worries, looks like reverse psychology works 😁

  • they're hardly doing their customers any favours.
Watch for another $5k here and $2,500 there.

At the end of the day its a chinese car, not a luxury bmw/merecedes

    • Let us know when BMW/Mercedes have an EV at this price?

      • Never said BMW/Mercedes had a model at this price?
Just saying it's a middle range car that they're charging excessive amounts for.

      • they probably won't as BMW and Mercedes is a luxury brand here

    • had a look at the BMW electric, uses samsung motors, in the prestige care ICE market manufactures would differentiate based on engine tech, with EV more parts will be common across manufactures as only a few companies make the motors and fewer make the batteries at this stage. EV will also remove the ability to make an engine bay look nice with branded and styled rocker cover, hard to make an electric motor look sexy in an engine bay.

      • Choosing EV is more like choosing a mobile phone, BMW and other tranditional brands will find hard to compete because they just hard to get the cost low. Big fish like BYD and Tesla are crazy when manage the cost of the car.

  • What do you mean by delivered, I see people go and pickup from port warehouse

    • No idea, a mod changed my title. But if you are being serious, I remember in the past if you lived a certain distance away from the dealership you could have it delivered. Dunno if they still do it

  • Got a feeling be better deals coming !

    • bigger price drops will be in new models where design and manufacturing innovations reduce costs, existing models have inherited base costs that are sometimes hard to reduce. If you are seriously looking at a $70,000 car, are you really waiting for a price drop before you buy ? you have the money.

  • +1

    InshaAllah one day

  • There is room for 30-40% price reduction

  • Why do these posts always get so many upvotes?

Is it just for laughs so that 20 people can write the same "Thanks OP. Bought 3" joke in the comments?

    • +1

Why does AldiRRP get so many upvotes? When this is a genuine discount.

      • We have a new species of fanbois. The ALDI Fanboi

  • If you work from home, don't let Elon find out or he will shut it down.

  • It's OOS damn it. I only wanted 1.

Anyone who bought 3-10 want to sell me 1 at the original price for a quick $1,000 profit?

  • +1

Just blew 800 servicing two cars… The next one that needs a timing belt charge, I'm switching it an EV.

  • Driving a polestar 2 at the moment for a hire car. Nice car, and more fun to drive then a tesla 3, but still not worth the money. When they come in under 50k and have over 500kmv of real world range, then they'll great to have.

Staying at a place with a free charger is great though. No petrol costs makes it fun to do lots of little trips

    • Interesting that you prefer to drive the Polestar 2. I own a Tesla M3 but its being repaired (hit by a garbage truck) and have been driving a Polestar 2 for the past month (also hire car) and I prefer driving the Telsa. Polestar build materials are miles better than the Tesla but I don't really enjoy driving it.

      • I've only driven the base model M3. Maybe the others are nicer. I'm not a huge fan of the M3 or Polestar 2 to be honest. But at least the M3 is cheaper

    • Not sure about what M3 you are talking about. I am driving a M3 Highland Dual motor and I thoroughly enjoy it. I test drive a lot of cars in all brackets and till now nothing WoWs anything like a tesla. Yeah I won't get the full manual feel of a stick shift and mechanical hand brakes etc. But other than that it is a fully polished experience with all the amenities.

And I can vouch that the M3H LR can easily give 500-550km real world range without breaking any sweat. Sound system is out of this world, Climate control is amazing, Media experience is flawless.

      Things I don't like in Tesla M3H
      1. ~15cm wheel base can be trouble some in some situation where you have to navigate some bumpy situations carefully to avoid underbody scratches
      2. Thin profile wheels are a nightmare during frequent underground multilevel parking visits especially if you are mall hopper. You can see may M3s with slight scratches in the real wheel rims because of this. You can avoid this if you are always careful. But because otherwise it is so easy to drive or due to old habits people forget this.

But then after all it is just a car. You need to have a taste and love it and should have time to appreciate it. At middle age after driving for so many years and between working for living and living for working it may not be as exciting for older crowd. I am in the same boat. But still I appreciate for what it is and try to enjoy as much as I can.

Is their build quality still POS?

    • Build quality excellent with the Chinese models, build materials terrible.

      • How so?

        • Let's put it this way. Nothing to complain about. Not real leather, no option for wood or other exotic linings and only two color options for the interior.

Exterior - still only 5 colors and all are costly except white. Looks exotic in any color but then your own eyes decieve you. Even a car with rainbow color is flashy until they are too few. In tesla's case there are so many in the road that none of the colors will now catch your eyes.

  • Trying to get to the Tesla shop for this incredible deal… but I’m stuck in a 7 hour queue waiting to recharge.

    • +1

You must live in the middle of nowhere. I'm in a capital city and have no shortage of charging stations…. not that I need to much when I can travel from one side to the other on a single charge with plenty left over.

    • You can buy online😉

  • Just buy a second hand model for half the price

    • Or a new GWM ora, for literally half the price. You may lose in the car fashion department but win in EV value.

      • I think the ora looks nice. Sadly it doesn't go to 0 to 100 in 3 seconds otherwise instant buy

        • No it doesn't, but in the grand scheme of life, with all the things that are important, is being able to go 0-100 in 3 seconds really so important? It's subjective so maybe, but not to me.

      • Ora is a good car, But the max battery you can get in a Ora is half of this and so is MG.

BYD Seal is great but the price is not that significantly lesser that this.

M3 Highland is almost impossible to beat if you consider everything it offers at this price.

All I am worried is about Tesla spoiling me that much that I can't drive anything lesser.

Shame on you legacy automakers - With this much profiteering and being on the top of the mountain for so long and still don't bother to produce something nearly competitive to this after having all the time in the world. i don't have any empathy for any of the traditional auto companies if they go bankrupt. It is their own making.

  • No thanks, this is the one without turn signal stalks?

    • Correct

    • +1

Just try driving one for a week and see if you prefer stalks…. You won't miss at all.

  • I'll grab three one for each member of the family , ;^
