Is this now officially the TV of ozbargain?

    (Just got mine delivered lol)

    • +1

Haha waiting for mine to be delivered next Tuesday!

    • +5

reminds me a couple of years ago, ozb ran an April fool on their website where eneloop are everywhere, soon enough it'll be TCL C845 :p

    • +2

I got the 55 inch for around 900 before Christmas its a great tv

      • +1

This is the size and price I’m waiting for. Still plenty of stock around me.

  • +5

I have this TV and yeah it's amazing, this price is great!

  • +2

If the 75" isn't available in my area, do you think an extra $800 for 85" is a good deal?

    • +6

I'd wait personally. If they fall even more, you get it for less. If stock disappears, you can wait for the next model (c855) to come down in price (I'd say it's worth it). The 75 c845 is best bang for buck right now.

      • 3500nits peak brightness. You're going to need glasses with these TCL TV's.

        • +1

Is that for the new models? I could see TCL getting into lawsuits at that stage for burned retinas

          • +1

@lookingforadeal7: Haha yeah, crazy isn’t it? Despite being in a 2 or 10% window of course. Imagine if it was full field. QD panel as well.

            • +1

@Maths Debater: I think even then with blooming white lights in certain scenes you'll be turning away from the screen, I've seen that be the case of current high brightness TVs, hopefully it just makes past models really cheap if any are floating around I don't need that much brightness.

      • This TV has a super unnoticeable auto-dimming feature, which means at night time, it dims and is perfect to watch. I accidentally switched this off once, and yes, it hurt to watch.

    • Just be aware that the 85" panel is not as bright as the smaller sizes.

      • Is this bad for dynamic range or just bright rooms?

        • I wouldn't say bad for either, but it is a difference that was quite obvious to me seeing the 85" and a 55" near to each other in a JB Hifi. The 85" was quite dull in comparison.

          • @Ozstache: Ah okay, thanks.

I've got the price difference down to $675 but it's for my Dad. Hard call.

        • The 85 is better overall for bright rooms as it’s not as glossy as the smaller ones

    • -1

No, the 85inch is a downgrade overall, not as bright and uses a semi matte finish rather than glossy like the others

  • The 65 inch is $100 less.

    • +1

On the automated price beat popups its $10 difference.
      75" - $1586 ($1695)
      65" - $1585 ($1595 door buster deal until 3/4)

  • +4

I got last year's OzB TV, the 75" C835. Been very happy with it so would imagine this is just as if not better.

    • +5

Haha that deal went down in OzB infamy.. with equal parts it was one of the greatest, funniest and stressful (for some) deals that ever hit OzB.

I got one too, it's been incredible, such a good picture and no need for anything else, best $1000 I've spent for a tech item, amazing value. TCL make a great TV.

This is now the stupidest thing that I have bought when my wife is away. Can't wait to hear how much she loves it when she gets back.

  • would good guys match the price of the bing lee order? Wondering since I would get it faster through them

  • does anyone know how to prevent these TVs from going mute on startup if ARC is enabled?

    • Disable power on and off with device. Its settings

  • how much is the 98 inch?

also for Full Array Local Dimming: The 65C845 65 Inch C845 TV divides the screen into 896 zones
does anyone know the number for 75"?

    Edit: miniLED (480, 576, 720, 896 zones in 55, 65, 75, 85")

so the 75 inch is actually 720 zones

  • This or the 85" P745 for watching plain Jane tv and streaming basic stuff? Room is fairly bright.

    • It depends on how much you need that extra 10". If you can get away with it, I would personally rather take a small hit on PQ and go with a larger telly, particularly considering it's for casual viewing. I can almost guarantee you will wish you went larger if you have the space for it.

  • +2

I got them to match my binglee order but they wouldn't budge on the $55 delivery, which i was fine with since i dont have to wait 2 weeks now. So came to 1496.00 used online chat

    • Can you share tax invoice / screenshot please.

    • +1 please share the tax invoice/order with me as well! I missed out

  • +2

Ordered one! FOMO was setting in looking at the recent C845 deals. Been using my 8-year-old Sony 65' KDL-65W850C, so deserved an upgrade and from the comments this looks like an ideal upgrade. $1641 including delivery.

    • They’re getting snapped up real quick. Good move.

  • ShopBack 4% at TGG too

  • +5

I work for TCL HQ, it is even cheaper than our staff price, gogogo!

    • Are the new models in the warehouse yet?

  • +1

For those in Perth, betta has it for $1696 + delivery or c&c from Rockingham. It seems to be the only store with stock over here.

  • +4

Thanks for the information, I paid 1795 last week at The good guys. now I am asking the 30days price guarantee.

    • +1

30 days price guarantee is only for Concierge customer.

  • Would this be better than the 75" Samsung Q70A from two years back? That one is a QLED panel. I assume mini LED is better?

    • +1

QLED is Samsung's terminology for a QD panel (Quantum Dot). It basically means it can produce a wider colour gamut and higher colour volume than a traditional panel. Mini LED is a direct-lit backlight with FALD (Full Array Local Dimming). The Q70A is edge-lit but does not suffer from blooming as it does not have Local Dimming. Having said that, there's a significant improvement in black uniformity having FALD. The C855 is QD-Mini LED so it’s better to wait if that’s important to you. I reckon it’ll be something special.

  • +3

Damn this website, gave into peer pressure and ordered one for our outdoor entertaining area. Wife will forgive me eventually. lol

    • This is the way. Buy now, think later. Or in your case, pay the price later lol.

  • How close is too close for a tv this big?

  • +1

There is no stock in VIC, likely we will get order cancellation email from TGG. Well not a bad thing since you will get a store credit.

    • +1

There is stock at Shepparton but they don't delivery. Only pick up, I don't know why.
      Otherwise I would order already.

      • +1

Appliance online seems to have stock still?

    • I got confirmation of delivery

  • Please don't buy this TV thinking it's good for AFL.

    • What makes you say that?

      • +1

The motion processing isn't great, particularly noticeable if you're coming from the likes of a Sony who are superior at this. Everyone is different though; some are more sensitive to it than others.

  • Looks sold out unfortunately, anyone know anywhere else selling?

  • Picked this up for 1795 last week at jobhifi walked in today and managed to the the price difference refunded to me !!

  • I just purchased the TCL 85P745 for $1355 and thought that was a bargain price.

Is the C845 that much better?

    • Even cheaper now - $1265 @ The Good Guys

    • +1

i have no idea about the quality of TCL tvs, but i bought C845 75 because its clearly the hottest tv on ozbargain

i'd rather pay much more for some sort of local dimming, P745 85 likely has no local dimming but C845 is mini led.

i'd buy oled without question if it doesnt have burn in, by far the most important quality of a tv is as little back light bleeding in dark scenes as possible.

  • +1

Energy rating is one of the downsides for mini leds. This TV is rated for 3 star (~1000 kwh/year or ~270wh/hr) shouldn't be that concerned for most.

I just visited the store and it looks good overalls. The staff said it's number 1 best selling online and currently OOS excepts the one on display. It's cheap because the mini leds are cheap? But the TV is not cheap originally. My guess it might be due to the power rating. Not sure if anything under 4 stars will be allowed in the future.

  • So far it’s been a great experience with picture quality but the android tv sucks and is laggy af. Now anyone know where can I get an Apple TV 4K on a good deal?

  • +2

Got mine earlier today and I'm very happy with it so far. I manually installed the latest firmware (v098) posted on the TCL Android TV Updates Telegram and setup the picture settings to AVForums recommendations from this video.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP_MAmb1HtA

The stock Android TV launcher is a mess of ads and quite slow, I installed Projectivy launcher which runs much better, is more customisable and gets rid of all the ads.

  • +1

Just got my c845 today. Discovered an issue when switching to any hdmi input a red pixel would appear and not go away. After researching I found disabling game mode fixes this issue. Just incase anyone else encounters this.

  • Good guys weren't able to deliver to my postcode in country Vic, but I was able to get a price match with appliances online.

  • Those who bought the C845, thoughts? I just bought one awaiting delivery.

    • Also Australia doesn't sell the C935 right, which looks like the highest spec in the same family.

    • +1

It's a very decent tv for the price, it gets very bright and does well handling blacks. The picture is excellent (for the price) and will satisfy most people out there, I feel it is let down with the software and image processing side of things though. I'd highly recommend manually updating to the latest firmware when you get it, as this seems to have helped with a bunch of software/processing issues with the earlier versions.

      • +1

Thanks for the tip. I always fiddle with settings with anything I get, I'm very fussy that way. Not having seen the TV in person, how bad/good is the glass reflection? I've seen other TVs are JB and I dislike the ones that are super reflective, as you end up watching yourself in the reflection instead of the content. I see some TVs are very matte, but then lose the pop of the colours being displayed.

        • +1

It's a glossy panel but it handles reflections quite well, it might depend on the lighting in your room though. Here's a side by side with the TCL 745, the C845 is on the right and the 745 on the left.

          https://cybershack.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/TCL-C84…

As for settings the AVForums settings video I posted above it about here you want to be and where I was most happy.

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP_MAmb1HtA

          • @greencomet: Oh so the C845 is shinier - hmm worries about reflections now, usually prefer a more matte screen. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the link to the settings, will take a look

  • Have I missed the boat on a 75C845 deal or do we think there could be more coming?

    • TCL will come out with new models later this year so there'll be more sales
