Found this deal through Bupa rewards where they add a 15% discount on top of current sale pricing, I’m sure there are other ways to access the partnership program though. Don’t post many deals so hopefully I got it all correct! I believe this is the cheapest I’ve ever seen the 65”.

Price through partnership program:
$2579.40

Minus trade-in of any tv, working or not:
$2429.40

Minus 5% first partnership program purchase:
$2307.93

Applicable to the other sizes also.
I tried adding a loyalty coupon but seems to only work in the regular Samsung store where the TV isn’t discounted anywhere near as much, so works out better this way.

  • Is it comparable to b4/b5 or c4/c5 from LG?

    • +1

Not 100% on any others but pretty sure c4 has been compared to this one quite a lot

    • -5

      G4.

      • +1

sounds like i should cancel my order of b5 LG and buy this instead.

        • +1

This price isn't otherworldly, so if you're in a position to wait I would get the S90F with the significantly upgraded image processing.

Also, keep in mind the LG G5 and Samsung S95F are both substantially brighter than the S90D and S90F.

          • @jasswolf: i am trying to compare against this deal, where i went ahead and ordered b5 65" model for around 2400, which still has not been delivered.

I think as compared to this i should cancel that and order this in place.

      • -1

The G4 is similar to S95, the S90 is similar to the C4.

        • The panel performance of the QD-OLED S90D competes directly with the G4, though it lacks a polariser, and the image processing is weaker which isn't great if you're watching a lot 480p or 720p content, or need a fair bit of de-juddering or motion smoothing done for some content.

I understand the naming system and the pricing just fine, thanks.

          • -3

@jasswolf: So inferior in a number of ways. I have this exact model 65 S90D and it’s good but it’s a fair way off the G4.

            • -1

@maxo84: Not when you're mostly watching 4K and 1080p content, you get better colour luminance and volume, so most of the time the image appears significantly brighter.

LG also has rubbish near-black performance and visible colour banding.

LG shit the bed with last year's line up, it was really only good for 24 FPS video compared to, but keep up the good work here, insightful commentary.

G5 will actually compete now, but not the C5.

              • -1

@jasswolf: Ok cool, let me know when you want to swap a G4 for the S90D and I’ll happily accept. Don’t forget the lack of Dolby Vision too.

                • -1

@maxo84: Eh, if you let the TV process the HDR10 metadata it doesn't actually matter much, and Disney+, Netflix, Apple+, Prime, YouTube, and Paramount all support HDR10+.

Seems most services will pick it up as they move over to AV1 codec.

Using it in a bright room throws a slight tint on it, but that's not the environment for HDR content with today's technology anyway.

                  Again, thanks for your consideration!

          • @jasswolf: Wait… is G4 better than C4 for low res stuff? The processing upscales it better?

            • +1

@bleeder: Somewhat, but the panel is the more critical difference.

    • -2

      Equivalent to C4

  • 5% first time purchase in EPP? I am not aware of this being for TVs.

    • +1

TV's are included. May be specific to this EPP page. Commbank Yello Samsung page doesnt get it.

      • Interesting, just checked my Commbank Business Yello and it’s there for the same 15%, TV’s included, but with commbank it’s a code for checkout whereas Bupa seemed to have already discounted prices visible from the page.

        • 5% extra discount doesnt show up for me for Commbank yello. I mean this page. https://shop.samsung.com/au/multistore/auepp/commbank_yello_…. Not sure what the Commbank business Yello one is. Maybe you have access to a different one.
It doesnt say anywhere on Commbank Yello Samsung page "Welcome to Samsung! Here's 5% off your first purchase."
Commbank yello page shows a banner saying "Enter your CommBank card at checkout to receive $100 off! Your order total must exceed $500." no codes required.

    • Read the title and description, you need to have special access via an education institution or a corporate account.

      • must have been edited. ill try kids education accounts.

        • +5

Haven’t edited anything, I posted a link but you have to link your Samsung account with a code through something like bupa rewards, I feel I included enough info for you to do this

          • @1080Pete: Perfect post. Was able to order and can say its legit.

            • @alastor: Sweet thanks for the feedback! Glad I managed to help at least one person haha

  • +2

A good price. I bought the S90C a couple of years ago and it’s a fantastic set. Still comparable against top end models today. No regrets whatsoever.

    • +1

I got the S90C almost a year ago from Samsung shop in a similar deal to this, but it was around $1600. Looking back was such a steal

  • -6

    I'd avoid Samsung.

Terrible support and service. I've had multiple nightmare experiences with them.

    • +4

I've also had terrible service multiple times from Apple so you better avoid them too.

      • Each to their own, Ive just had another bad Samsung RMA experience with my SSD.

So I’m actually reluctant on this deal and just going to wait for a LG or Sony one.

Ive had nothing but good experiences with apple being straight swaps and stuff.

  • Better than TCL mini led 755 series etc?

    • +4

I think OLED is preferred vs QLED for most

    • +3

Lol yes OLED is better than Mini LED

      • -1

Unfortunately Samsung doesn't do Dolby Vision which is heaps better than HDR, so being an OLED it's kind of a waste and over priced.

  • -1

I recently compared this to Sony Bravia 8, apparently there are some panel lottery in play when buying outside of NA according to reddit.

    • +3

I don't believe that applies in Australia. If the model ends in WXXY here (which this one does on Samsung's website), it is a QD-OLED, at least according to this https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/s90d-s90dd-oled-qd…

      • Awesome thanks for verifying, I didn't realise the URL had the model #.

    • -1

In all regions the S90D 55", 65" and 77" are QD-OLED, and the other sizes are WOLED.

In some regions there are S91D through to S94D models, and that's where it's supposedly a panel lottery, but as pointed out above there is a naming system to determine that.

      • +1

77" is woled in Aus dude

        • -1

There you go! Useful, but still not relevant to the current deal.

          • @jasswolf: Relevant to your comment above, which if not relevant, then renders your previous comment irrelevant. Its a circle jerk of irrelevance ppl!

            ….not unusual for Ozb

    • That’s for 55”, I’ve posted for 65”, normal store has $3499 for 65” currently.

  • Paid lass than 1700 for my S90C 65inch last year and couldn't be happier

    • Me too, it is a ridiculous amount of TV for the money. Picture quality still blows me away almost a year later

      • Yeah, quite amazing actually. I can't imagine a better TV honestly

    • Either the C or D models would be a massive improvement over most of the floor stock at JB, and their RRP or discounted prices.

  • I guess one needs to be with a partnership company like Bupa for this to happen?

Will a crappy 21 inch whatever brand i have qualify for $150 trade-in lolz?

75 inch of the Samsung S90D OLED TV would be a better size since spending this large amount?

    • Yeah like private health places, banks and similar I guess, I found the same offer through my commbank business account.

Yep I’m trading some old 22” that I’m unsure if works that I got for free and not using, the site has conditions when you click through but even when you tell them you’re trading something useless they still offer the same amount.

Sure if you have the space for it and would like a bigger one I guess, personally a 75” would be too large for my area unfortunately :(
