    thanks any 4070 deals?

    • +11

That's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison

      400nit OLED panel vs 250nit LCD…

      • -6

If you look at most YouTube videos these two laptops feature in comparisons.

I'm aware of the quality difference but in terms of use case (compact gaming laptop) these laptops fit the same need.

        • +4

OLED is a thousand times better

        • +3

"My Toyota Camry gets you from A to B just the same as a new C-Class Benz" -Maxi Pad

        • Lol dude, stop trying to justify away LCD vs OLED. 😂

      • +3

apples to oranges that’s an understatement, in this situation I would venture to say apples to orangutans, that’s how wide the chasm of differentials is, you simply can’t do comparisons like this its a sacrilege.

  • +1

$1,932.06 if you downgrade your 1 year on-site warranty to a 1 year depot warranty. A whopping extra 0.9% off!

  • +14

Altough this is good price for the laptop. Don't worry too much about getting it right now. This laptop comes on sale quite often and the cashback on Lenovo with Cashrewards goes up to 12% sometimes.

Ordered earlier this week and paid $2200 (incl 1TB SSD) and got $270 back on cashrewards.

  • +4

Great laptop. Good balance of weight / size vs performance and the screen is amazing. Happy owner here

    • Me too. Bought the 1TB SSD/32GB RAM version during boxing day sales. Great jack of all trades laptop.

      • -6

jack of all trades? the cpu has high tdp and faster than not business laptops and has 8 cores, almost desktop class performance, unlike the peasant 6 cores gaming rigs that gets pushed here

        • +4

Do you know what Jack of all trades means?

          • @BartholemewH: im saying this cpu is beastly in case you didn’t understand my paragraph

        • Seems to tick all the boxes for me except we can't customize the RAM on this, being soldered you have to upgrade during purchase and on my current workstation laptop i'm running 64GB so going backwards to 32GB is going to be a big performance hit. I am frequently using 40-50GB or more during my workday. I wish there was some push in the industry to move away from this soldered crap, can't believe a high end laptop like this would not be socketed RAM.

          • +1

@Agret: it’s pretty silly, I ended up getting a gaming laptop last year because the 7840hs was faster than business laptops, at least it has ram/ssd slots, just bulky lol

  • +3

Holding for sub $1.8K with cashback 😂🙏

    • +2

Time is now? $1949 less 13.2% cashback brings it down to $1692?

      • +1

oh really… is that a cashback w lenovo rn?

but actually that new xiaoxin lenovo pro 14 w 8840HS looks to be the play for $1.4 k ish sure no rtx 4060 but still amazing gpu performance for an igpu… decisions decisions either way my ass too broke rn for both haha gonna continue to wait as tbh no rush for a laptop rn

  • This or ideapad pro i5 (14inch, gen 9) for $1,705?

    • +3

That one has no dedicated GPU. Definitely the Legion Slim

    • +1

No dedicated graphics card. would say the legion the better buy

  • -1

Is this a good laptop for productivity and gaming like Fortnite? Thanks

    • +3

      Best under 2kg

  • +1

This is actually bit better than the last deal which was $1900 for 16gb ram and extra $70 for 32 which was sold out with 14% cashback, so with 13% shopback now it's not too bad ($1715). If you want an affordable OLED gaming laptop this is a cracker deal. It's a shame the 4060 and 4070 are voltage limited and a massive step down from 4080 but unfortunately the price increase between them is still steeper than the performance gain.

    • +2

The 13% shop back is only for the NZ store, and that doesn't have the discount like the AU store unfortunately.

    • Looks like TopCashback has 13% cashback at Lenovo also for the next 14 hours. What are people's preferences between cashrewards and TopCashback? I barely use either. My experience with Cashrewards and specifically buying a Lenovo laptop around 10 years ago was very bad, and they never honoured the cashback.

      • +1

Haven’t used TopCashback a lot yet. Cashrewards have mostly been honoring Cashback. You need to make sure you remove Lenovo Rewards when paying as that is not compatible with Cashrewards… it was not easy to remove as I was not able to use PayPal without the Lenovo Rewards.
Anyway just ordered this laptop this morning with CB and added 3 year onsite warranty for about $85 extra. Cashrewards tracked pretty much straight away.

  • Bought this during Black Friday with the 64gb and 1TB upgrades and it kicks ass, Love it! The OLED is wonderful and plays games super smooth, would reccommend.

    • +2

How much did you get it for during black friday?

  • Is this deal worth the extra $400-$500 odd dollars over this Dell G15 deal?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/834041

Obvious differences being the screen, extra RAM and portability, but probably the same in terms of performance?

    • +4

Build quality is a huge difference atop of the aforementioned 3 component differences.

There will be numerous small differences as well: Webcam quality, microphones (1 vs 2) [for webcam], built in speakers, battery life [Dell has a bigger battery but will run less efficiently], cooling solutions, chassis quality/engineering/design/materials used i.e. Aluminium vs Plastic [This does circle back to build quality but its important to understand it affects every part, potentially -> Longevity]. Not sure, but Lenovo probably can charge via PD, whereas the Dell needs 10lbs even if you're going away for a weekend.

If you can afford the differences go for it, I haven't gone over it with a fine tooth comb, but I needed a laptop desperately and was deciding between Dell, Lenovo [3 weeks to ship], and eventually found a 3rd solution that was similar to the Lenovo but immediately available [Zephyrus G16 by Asus] for just under 2k, that I was able to pick up same day.

Finally - believe the Dell is no longer on sale?

      • Thanks for the detailed reply! Budget can stretch, just wasn't totally certain that it was worth the extra but from what you're saying it most likely is. Didn't see that the Dell sale had stopped, pretty much makes this one almost a no brainer then. I think this is one of the lower prices they've had on the website, I actually prefer a straight discount over the possibly higher cashback percentages as in my experience they're likely to not track and cause issues.

        • +1

          Absolutely mate, appreciate the appreciation.

Enjoy your laptop if you go through with it.

Assuming it's not a lemon [esp. post warranty] / or you accidentally break it, I'm sure you won't regret it.

It's disconcerting to me how much more premium something can feel, and how that can make one/me feel.

  • +4

I wish we had the 16% cashback right now

    • +1

Cashrewards has 13% Cashback today.. I pulled the pin!

  • I bought a Lenovo X1 Carbon Extreme Gen1 sic years ago. 1GB SSD 16GB RAM 6 Core i7, GTX1050ti. The typing experience has been awesome but the comp has always run slow. If it was over heating it was freezing for no reason. You wait a bit and it’s all good again. Most laptops I buy with windows are like this. Even my Macbook Pro was the same. It’s difficult to justify any laptop purchases based on my negative experience with them

    • Ryzen on laptops rarely have thermal issues…

    • intel moment

  • I'm thinking of upgrading my work laptop, is it possible to run 2 monitors from a single USB-C connection with a AMD processor? Current laptop uses Intel / Thunderbolt via a Dell dock….

  • Can anyone with one comment on battery life for this. Not so much gaming but using for work. Looking s this but don't want something that goes flat in like 6 hours.

    • +1

Compared to all other 14inch gaming laptops it does really well. It can hit over 8 hours but you have to have it in eco mode and have it running on integrated graphics only which requires a reboot. My idea is to have it always using integrated graphics and switch to the dGPU when I'm gaming.

      • Do you know what size USB C PD charger will work with this if only running on iGPU? Thanks

  • +7

Cashrewards has 13% cashback on now. Brings it down to $1700

    • +3

Purchased it with cashrewards thank you.
Cancelled the Xiaoxin model and opted for this with gpu and local warranty.

      • Does it actually give u the 13% cash back with this deal. Just wanting to confirm.

        • Cashrewards tracked at 13% of the total I paid (incl GST). I paid a bit extra for 3yrs onsite support = $2031.06. Cashrewards tracked at $264.04.
Make sure you remove the Lenovo Rewards before paying.

          • @Dolapsap: Hi, do you use your Lenovo Rewards at all in the case of cashback??

            • @Ramsses2100: I believe it is not possible to qualify for cashback if you use partial payment via Lenovo Rewards… check out the T&Cs of the Cashrewards or Shopback offer.

    • A no brainer at this price. Well done

    • +1

Thank you for posting this. Really appreciate it. Can confirm the cash back works. I upgraded the hard drive and warranty with cash back $280 due back on purchase price of $2151. Just ordered and received cash backs confirmation shortly after.

    • Does it work with ShopBack 12%?

  • Are Lenovo wait times accurate? 5-6 week delivery times.

  • Does anyone know if the 5-6 weekw shipping is accurate? Or can it come a lot sooner?

    • Estimated shipping date 26/03. Purchased 19/03.

      • Thanks Mitch.

I had since spoken to Live Chat and they said 5-6 weeks as they'll be built to order. Since you got in early, it sounds like you've snagged a unit already available.

    • I ordered on 19/3/24 and just received a DHL shipping notification from China (23/3/24)… so seems to be way quicker than 4-5 weeks.

      • How has your shipping been going? Has the Legion arrived?

        • Not delivered yet but has arrived at DHL Brisbane on Easter Saturday (30/03/24) and will be delivered when DHL reopen after public holidays (maybe 02/04/24).

        • Arrived straight after Easter holidays. It is a nice machine to work with to replace my dying Dell XPS 13” from 2019. I’m running triple external monitors and it does get a little fan noise when under load with the dGPU but otherwise dead quiet with basic web/office stuff. A bit heavier for a portable device but not impossible to carry around.
32Gb RAM is the bare minimum to consider and has a spare NVME Gen 4 SSD Slot to expand storage. Good value for what I need.

  • Shipped as well DHL today

  • Is it worth getting gen 9 for $200 more

    • +1

Keep in mind the Gen 9 is a 16". The appeal, to me at least, of the Gen 8 is the size and weight.

      • Ah thanks buddy

  • +1

Did anyone use shopback with this deal? If so how long did it take from your order to appear as tracked by shopback? I purchased on the 27th and use the shopback app on my phone to make my purchase and still hasnt tracked, just a bit nervous that i have to go about reporting the tracking as misisng and them declining it for some reason.
