If you read reviews, seems like thermal management may be an issue for those NVMes that generate a lot of heat - still a bargain, but be forewarned…

    • +5

It's also important to note that NVMe drives run hot and that's completely normal. People only notice and complain because it's not inside their computer. A thermal pad would help.

I have one of these hubs even without the nvme, can get pretty hot at times.

  • Aliexpress page does not appear / Broken link

      Works for me.

That means you have a VPN, something blocking your location or Starlink. At this rate I'll have to add it to every post.

Doesn't work for me that link.. found the same product but its $42 instead:

    • Meanwhile it's showing it as cheaper for me ($30.86) :/

      • Supposedly, GST is not included. See what it shows at the checkout when you enter postage address.

Add ?sourceType=562 at the end of the URL.

I've noticed that some Aliexpress deals need a special url to get the deal price.

        LOL.. made it much worse..

        went up to $94

        • You're on Aliexpress.us I think that is the reason.

@BarginHunter: Which is why the link in the OP doesn't work for bchliu. They have a US IP address (likely from a VPN) and AliExpress is blocking them from seeing the deal. AliExpress has regional deals and sites, i.e. anything Pokemon/Nintendo related is hidden on Japanese IPs.

  • Can I fit a regular SSD and connect it all up to a tv?

I'm not sure what the benefits are of having a HDMI port, for me anyway

    • +1

Does your TV have usb c?

This is more of a usb c dock for a computer with an inbuilt M.2 slot. So basically, if you have only one usb c port on your computer, you can use it for a Dock and fast external storage at the same time.

      • No just USB 2a I think, plays media files using that connection

        • +1

It's a waste of money getting this for just the TV. You can get USB enclosure for NVMe SSD cheaper and some of them have USB-A and USB-C connectors (though for quite a number of them, USB-A will drop speed to USB 3.0/3.2 gen 1, instead of gen 2), but for your usage, it is still overkill.

MSY used to sell this USB-A/3.0 to SATA adapter for $3, but now it is back to $9. SATA adapters and enclosures, when discounted, are a lot cheaper.

If you do get this 8 in 1, you will need a USB-C to USB-A converter. Quite a lot of cheap ones claim to be USB 3.0 but are actually USB 2.0.

  • Mine arrived and it seems to drop connection to the computer every couple of minutes 😞 Using it mainly for the SD card slot and it's not very reliable (perhaps faulty?)

    • Turns out it was faulty. Refunded
