[Pre Order] Samsung Galaxy S24 + Tablet/Buds/Watch + Samsung Care from $882.58 (with Non-Return Trade-in) @ Samsung EDU & App

2521
GALAXYAI

There's the generic deal page but I thought I'd post this separately because of trade-in shenanigans.

Update: Looks like most addons are OOS.

Update 2: Well done, y'all have managed to clean out most of Samsung EDU Australia Mobile. Stay safe and stay inside, UV Index through the moon most days 🌚

Note: If you don't want to bother with the app, just order using your PC. You'll lose out on the 5% off extra which isn't too bad.

Alrighty.

Part 1:
1) Download the Samsung Shop App
2) In settings switch to the EDU account
If you've already used the first mobile order discount, you can create a new EDU account. For example if you signed up with Samsung EDU directly then use UniDays to make a new account or vice versa.

Part 2:
1) On the mobile app add an S24 256GB to cart
2) Select the free 1 year Samsung Care
3) Select nothing to trade in (we'll do this later)
4) In the next page it'll ask you to add extra stuff. Add your addons as desired as per the deal combination section after these instructions.
5) On the checkout page input the GALAXYAI voucher.

Part 3)
1) Download the Samsung Trade In app on your phone. Edit: You can also do this directly during check out. Select "I am new to trade in" on check out.
2) Go through the promts, and make sure to select SCREEN CRACKED. This ensures your device value is $1 so you pay $30 non-return fee; if your device tradein value is more than $30 then you pay $60. This is because you are NOT sending in your device to Samsung.
3) Obtain trade-in code

Part 4) Redeem bonus trade-in code
1) Check out and pay the amount with the 5% off mobile.

Deal #1: Galaxy S24 + Galaxy Tab S9 for $1558.03 OOS

Total $1527.03 + $31 = $1558.03

Yep plus I'm pretty sure that the RRP in Aus is higher than most western countries too so getting a worse version pisses me off

        • +1

im going to shop on ebay soon to buy from the US. fk samsung Australia.

          • @plentifoo: I just went with the Ultra in the end.
            It has Snapdragon everywhere

            • +3

@sharky_k: so many things i dislike about the ultra form factor wise:

              • it's a phablet with a stylus, never had one, never need one
              • the size of it will change the way i use my mobile - fitting in pockets and such
              • too angular, the feathered edges on the s24/s24+ much nicer imo

i'm finding ways to get my s24 from the US…

              • +2

@plentifoo: Yeah, I do understand. I would have preferred the 24+ really, but the extra discount coupon for the ultra along with the chipset pushed me over the edge…

    • Check my comment above

      • +1

Thanks for the info. Personally I'd have opted for Snapdragon on both devices (so the S9 Tab rather than the FE) since my research tells me it's about 2x faster but I suppose your use cases might be different. From my estimate, the S9 Tab + S24 Ultra combo would be an extra ~$350 so $1900 for both.

        • You dont have to research much, I have already listed the exact breakdown

          • @abs898: Yeah but like I said, yours is the FE which is much cheaper than the standard S9

            • @ChillBro: It's based on the standard s9, someone else listed the FE. I don't know how to link it but here it is:

              s24 Ultra 256
              $1759 - $250 - 200 =$1309

              s9 Tab
              $1039.20 - $150-$200 = $689

              Total $1998 - If you are using the app 5% - $1,898.1

It is $340 dearer to the s24 but two level up phone with Snapdragon Gen 3, and I don't need to breakdown the upgrades are 100% worth the difference.

              • +1

@abs898: Hah cool so I'm spot on and yeah I definitely think SD is worth it though someone below said there's not much difference between SD Gen 3 and Exynos 2400 but I guess we'll see

                • @ChillBro: I have faith in the new Exynos but let's see

    • +2

The new exynos is much better than the old ones with geek bench report a similar single core score of 2200ish for both snapdragon and exynos and 7000 for multicore compared to 7300 for the snapdragon. We'll have to wait for more in-depth results but the exynos does mostly match the snapdragon.

The big issue I have is the price they are selling it for in Australia compared to the US. You would think that since it's Samsung own silicon, prices would be reduced, but a regular s23 with 256gb storage cost US $799.99 (AUD $1,220), which If you factor in GST, would be $1,342 Australian.

Samsung are selling it for $1399 which is unacceptable. It's standard price should be cheaper than the Snapdragon versions as using its own Fabs and design would reduce the cost.

      • -1

Yeah, I'm guessing it's because we're not really a focus compared to other countries due to our low population.

That would be good if true since IIRC, exynos chips have always lagged behind the competition.

        • Think it's more to do with the US price points, as selling something for say 799 is important there as it's almost in the public memory for what a standard phone should cost.

I think it's nothing to do with the smallness of this market, but probably due to the diminishing Android competition in Australia.

      • own Fabs and design does not mean it will be cheaper

they need to spend money on R and D
and also scale of production makes big difference in cost..

A bigger production usually results in cheaper per unit vs a smaller production.

        • Very unlikely though as Qualcomm still has to pay for fab and R&D, it will need to make a margin on the chips. There's just several layers of more middlemen in the Qualcomm chips making it extremely unlikely they offer their chips cheaper than the insourced chips from Samsung.

          • @Pcoder: in regards to samsung

they do want to maintain consistency in their pricing and profit
don't think they want to give message that the own cpu is more inferior so it is priced cheaper on those phones.

            in general though
with fab manufacturing when they products lots of units eventually the price drops per unit cost
if they only make a few then the price is more expensive

Yes, initially they would need to recover fab and R&D..
but over time, the unit cost gets cheaper..

it's something to do with scale of production cost..etc

            • @pinkybrain: I'd argue it's more to do with the perception that they are worse, why they have select the Snapdragons for the high-end. Remember there was a time in the early 2010s when the Exynos were much better than the Snapdragons.

Another reason for making Snapdragons on all US stock is also due to various modem, licencing and patent issues. Even Apple is using Qualcomm for it modems.

              • @Pcoder: not just perception
There was tests/benchmarks done when S21 was selling and the snapdragon was better.
The phone also ran with lower temps..
And the camera also had better results/performance on the snapdragon from the tests..

Snapdragon has a good history of better performance than Exynos…

There is also the fact that Samsung had issues with Exynos for the S22 and S23
so that is why there was only Snapdragon in those phones..

Then there is also the fact that Samsung is a relatively young and smaller CPU maker than Qualcomm.

Maybe due to these events, reviewers.. and history
people generally has the bias / perception that Snapdragons are better than Exynos

So the perception does not just occur without causes that make people perceive it that way…
And this perception is only from the tech buyers..
Average joe would not know any difference.

So will wait and see what the benchmark says this time again..
but still would prefer the snapdragon cos of those reasons.

Remember there was a time in the early 2010s when the Exynos were much better than the Snapdragons.

Don't think many people would know that since samsung phones weren't capturing the android market as big as it is now…
And don't think people who bought it know or care it was Exynos

these samsung deals get more and more wild each iteration haha

good on ya op, not for me, but i can appreciate the amount of effort taken in writing post.

Does the S24+ have the Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 processor in Australia

  • Part 1:
    1) Download the Samsung Shop App
    2) In settings switch to the EDU account
If you've already used the first mobile order discount, you can create a new EDU account. For example if you signed up with Samsung EDU directly then use UniDays to make a new account or vice versa.

How do you get 2nd ID like mentioned here through UniDays. Its redirecting to samsung site but to confirm the student email again.

    • Make a unidays account through their own website and verify with your student id. Then I think you make a new samsung account and link it with your unidays. I did this a while back.

      • Thanks for your reply bro. I am finding it difficult how to link the samsung id with unidays.

      • I have already ordered using app on my Samsung accoutnt.
I accidently connect it with EDU email, rather creating new account.
Now I can't link new account to EDU email. Any way to de-link my current account from Education store.
I tried to create new account through UniDays, but it's not working

  • I think there was a deal how get an edu. email. I can't seem to find it.

  • With the amount of pre-order offers we're seeing the lower turnover of phones must really be hitting their bottom line.

Finally some reprieve from the ridiculous price gouging going on. Apple's going to be struggling to maintain the turnover if Samsung is hurting.

  • if only that price is for s24ultra :D

  • I can't see the option to buy any mobile phone on Samsung shop app. Is it just working on Samsung phone OR iPhone as well.

    • This. Can confirm can’t see mobiles on iOS, but visible on android app.

      • Interesting. Can you try searching for it in the search bar?

  • +2

smaller phone users screwed over again by samsung.

now i need to shop on ebay to get the global version of the S24 just to get snapdragon.

    what a farce.

    • Agreed. I'll be sticking with my S23+ for many years, the SD 8 Gen 2 inside is amazing.

      • +1

im half deciding to just get a s23 since it comes in nicer colourways. really love the green that we don't see at all in the s24 range.

but SD 8 Gen 3 seems to be quite an improvement over Gen 2 and the price on the S23 hasn't came down much yet so if i were to get a new phone now, it may as well be the S24 global version.

        • S23s will probably go on sale 30-35% (what Samsung historically has done with older gen) which still isn't that great given the RRP of $1349 for the base S23. Importing an S24 Snapdragon is probably your best bet tbh unless you can find a really good deal on the S23 series.

    • smaller phone users

unfortunately I rarely see you guys in public these days. everyone has an ultra or if they prefer smaller phones they go with a flip. same with apple, most are pro max users. only with google do I see an equal split between the base and larger/pro models.

      • And who cares what normies prefer?

  • +1

I used the trade in app but it just gave me a samsung trade ID instead of a code what do i do?

  • +1

    A couple of questions:

    • How can we get access to Samsung Education if we don't have an education email?

    • Someone that has access to Samsung Education, how much would S24 Ultra 512GB would be with the options on description?

      1. Education email needed
      2. S24 U is 1919.20, you can take deals out of it.
  • I cant see Galaxy phone in Samsung Shop App (iOS). Is it different app?

    • Me too

    • Get an android phone. iOS doesn’t have samsung mobs on samsung shop app

  • +8

OP, in general I find all the BS different stores, hoops and code crap you jump through with Samsung to get a deal is an absolute joke but your instructions were some of the best I've read on here. Champion effort.

    • Thanks!

  • +3

It's a poor deal if that's exynos. I have the s22 and was planning to upgrade. But this is poor from Samsung

    • +2

      It's Exynos otherwise I would've bought it

      • S24 Ultra is Snapdragon

        • +3

I don't really want a giant phone 90g heavier than my current

  • How to get $1 trade in because the minimum its showing $5 and its not even asking me the condition of the device, its just automatically adding it. If i don't trade in this $5 device, how much they will charge any idea guys??

    • Does this add the 250 bonus trade in anyway?
People say the value of the device (5) +30-60 cancellation fee. So max would be 65 if you don't send in

      • So they won't cancel the $350 bonus trade which i will get with this trade off?. How to get the device value of $1 because I'm not getting that mate

    • $5 is fine as well. You'll get charged the extra $30 non-return fee + $5 device value but you're obviously paying $5 less initially because the system expects you to send the old device in.

      • So total i have to pay is $35 if i dont return the device and they won't takeaway my tradein bonus of $350 right

        • Correct.

          • @wizko: Mate i talk to one of the samsung representative and he told me that if you dont send your device you will charge $60 and also you trade in bonuses i.e $350 will be gone. He asked his supervisor about it. How true is this??? This is my first time trade up man

            • @kingkhan1990: Samsung reps are outsourced from Philippines who don't get paid enough to give a flying goat shit and don't know anything.

These Ozbargain methods have been tried and tested by us and are from our collective anecdotal experiences. You'll just get charged the $30 or $60 depending on your device trade in valuation. You keep the $350 bonus.

Again, no guarantees if they somehow do end up charging you for the $350 and this is all at your own risk but I haven't seen a single person be charged over the years we've all been doing this.

              • @wizko: Thanks mate. Have you tried it in the past?? I will take the gamble bro

                • @kingkhan1990: Yes I did this 6 months ago for my tablet, worked just fine. Good luck.

    • So we can no longer get the $30 non send in charge and must pay $60?

  • +1

    Yes legendary performance original poster.

  • Can anyone foresee any issues with me buying one in my wife's name who is a teacher?

And do all phones get the 350 trade in? As in any phone listed in the trade in app.

    • +1

There shouldn't be any issues, no. I imagine you'd just have to use her name if you wanted to claim anything under warranty.

Yes the $350 should apply to any trade in.

      • Thanks!!!!!!

  • Galaxy Watch 6 40mm Bluetooth - sold out on my end

    • Try changing colour?

  • -5

what if you don't have an edu account?

    • +3

      You purchase at full price

  • This seems similar to this previous legendary deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/805370

I wonder if they have patched cancelling the bundled item and getting a refund automatically and still receiving the phone for total around $600~ or under.

I still wouldn't even risk pre ordering it at $600 though, until Exynos 2400 reviews come out :P

    • I did the Galaxy S24 + 3x Buds FE + Charger combo, cancelled the charger and it has indeed reduced the order value in my order history by the cost of the charger, although not certain if this will result in me being refunded that amount or otherwise

      • You usually get en email about cancellation and then refund amount couple days after dispatch

  • +1

I've tried to get a trade-in code but it keeps telling me the code is eligible in store only. Anybody know how to deal with this issue?

    • Try doing the trade-in on the website. So select 'I am new to trade-in' on checkout and I think it let's you do the shenanigans on the checkout flow itself.

      • Will give that a go, thanks

      • Doing this loses you the 5% new user on the app though right? Probably explains the trouble I was having.

        • I've just tried it, doing the trade-in in the samsung shop app works as well. Just select 'I am new to trade-in'.

          • @wizko: Can confirm it worked in the app too. Only difference is a $60 non return fee despite phone value being $1

  • Went to samsung physical store. Traded my s22 ultra 256gb. Got s24 ultra 512 gb for $1124

    • Any idea what would be price for s23ultra 512gb tradin to get s24ultra 512gb?

      • I got $700 + the $250 bonus.

  • Hi all, can I get some clarification on this non-return thing?

I ordered my S24 ultra and traded my S23U. I got about $700 for the trade plus the $250 bonus. If I dont return it, I'll be charged the $750 but keep the $250 bonus?

  • Snapdragon or go home is what most OzBargainers are probably thinking?

  • Would like to know where this is stated in the T&C for my peace of mind:

"This ensures your device value is $1 so you pay $30 non-return fee; if your device tradein value is more than $30 then you pay $60." -

  • Someone mentioned GALAXYAI code no longer work with items more than $200 like tablets in the other post. Did anyone else have this problem?

    • +1

Why would that be a thing? Its simply 200 dollars to pur towards acc, gadgets, tabs etc

    • +1

Worked just fine for me right now. Maybe try GALAXYAI with caps?

  • Where are you seeing S24 for $1119.20?

    It always $1399

    • You're not on the EDU store
