  • Also good for Quest 3? Can't see why it wouldn't but…

    • +2

      Yes.
      See my other comment

  • Are the link cables with the inbuilt charger extensions (ability to plug in an additional USB C with PD to slow the battery drain it looks like) worthwhile? I couldn't see any highly rated / highly used ones, although they seem to be plenty out of the China.

    • The PC doesn't power it when plugged in??

I don't remember my battery draining when using my Quest 1 tethered…

  • +1

Quest 2/3/Pro can all use the same link cable. Fyi

No link cable is exclusive to a specific model out of 2/3/pro|

also, any high quality usb-c cable should work just fine. See here

    • +1

The reason for the real link cable, is that it uses an optic fibre path for part of it to minimise weight. This one is just a typical right angle cable one.

      • +1

Yes, definitely something to watch out for. The optic fibre cables are way more expensive: example

  • Is there any difference between this one and a normal usb-c to usb-c cable except the length?

    • usb 3.2

  • Does anyone know what the longest link cable you can use is? I'd like to run a cable from my office to the garage, would be able 15 metres I think

  • The issue with these cables is that they will not extend the battery life of the Quest while tethered, on the other hand something like the following will allow you to also connect a PD charger in-line and give you unlimited time:

INIU 16FT Link Cable for Oculus Quest 2/Pro, High Speed Transfer Link Cable VR with Separate Charging Port

    • I think this is a link for anyone interested:
      https://www.amazon.com.au/INIU-Transfer-Separate-Ultra-Durab…

One thing I notice is it says 18W power output which I think might be 'slightly' low for the newer Quest 3 to 'charge' but it might either maintain or slowly drop charge at an 18W charge possibly? I don't have one so have never tried but anyone that has got the product I'll be keen to know how it works….
