They also had issue with this deal. Yes, that's TCN too. Took several days to resolve for some, I bought a few impacted, filling up a couple of form, then too lazy waiting for them to response. One day, all of my codes suddenly just work without doing anything

  • yep, has only just gone up. They must be getting smashed with calls this am, I think we don't panic and just wait a little longer

  • 16 out of 17 card balances loaded and swapped to JB Hi-Fi gift card. 1 card still showing balance of $0.

    Well, this is annoying.

    • how long did it take for swap to go through to JB Hifi?

      • +1

        Instant

    • can you merge your JB cards into 1 at all?

      • No idea, don't think so. But you can use multiple JB gift cards for online purchase.

    • So was a bit of a hassle, but managed to snag the iPad Air 64GB Wi-Fi from JB which is on sale for $849. Net cost $722.50 … can't complain.

  • -2

Are there anymore Coles in WA with the Home Gift Cards?
    Do Coles restock often?

  • +1

Looks like JB is getting smashed as well.
Online chat queue at 150. assume many are asking for price match to buy like I am.

    • What’s the deal on jb today?

      • I assume many have converted their TCN GC to JB GC and getting JB to price match via chat to use thier jb gift card rather than going into the store.
well thats what I am doing anyway to buy a headphone

        • Thanks and I want apple gc but I guess jb might create issue in converting tcn to jb cards to Apple gift card.

          • @Nickbag: I was thinking about doing a similar one ($1500 worth of cards (30 x $50 cards) so I didn't bother.)
But if I was doing it, I would convert tcn to apple card. rather than converting to jb gc and then apple gc. reports on jb gc to apple gc have been mixed whereas tcn gc to apple gc have been 100%.

        • -2

lol can use 1 GC online at JB. unlimited in store.

          • +1

            @Rifulreinhardt: lol. are you sure?
i just used 9 of the GCs via JB online now.

            • -3

              @superbass: yes :)

              • @Rifulreinhardt: I used 3 GCs online at JB for my purchase yesterday

                • @puffinfresh: silly Fehima on live chat told me they "only allow one online" so I assume she's incorrect then? her script needs updating with correct information if seems. not hard to get right if no. of gift cards is in fact unlimited online.

  • +2

you know its a deal when even your 70 yo dad is calling u up about it

  • +1

Out of curiosity… who actually loses the say $15 here on a $100 gift card purchase?

TCN? The store you use it at? Anybody know?

    • +4

Coles. They have a markup on the cards, not sure how much but don’t worry about them, they never lose money as a company

  • +5

JB HiFi getting smashed in-store… just came back from converting Apple GC's… everyone in the line had a thick wad of these bloody gift cards… anyway, credit to the JB staff who were great and let everyone make their purchases spread across dozens of cards. Some people learnt a hard lesson though.. check your GC's before you go, a lot of customers have been rolling in without checking and their cards have zero balances still.

    • Hey I'm just wondering, so you just use the TCN cards as a eftpos card and just buy the Apple GC's?

Also can you get a $500 Apple Card with multiple TCN cards?

      Cheers

      • Yeah eftpos, just select savings. The staff can split up the purchase among many cards so don't see why you couldn't buy a $500 Apple GC.

    • -1

was in store today and told can't convert Tcn to apple or jb hifi gift cards. Just so your aware

      • Just buy something like an iPad with the TCN and come back 5 minutes later for a refund change of mind they’ll put it onto a jb gift card :)

  • Anyone aware of a place with some stock?

    • I heard Tasmania is alright

    • Greensborough (VIC) has some earlier this afternoon.

  • -3

I’m going to neg this deal because frankly it’s a joke. TCN card activation is a joke, their website don’t work and is confusing af, their cards are confusing too as they look like the ultimate cards. Coles should manage their promo better too, can’t stand the hordes and card stashing. The whole thing is just embarrassing

    • +1

I’m going to convert all my cards into something else because I have zero trust in keeping my money onto a TCN card. They look like a joke of a company

      • +1

Pretty much. If you horde these cards and don't spend them ASAP, you are asking for trouble.

    • some bought ultimate cards and stuck in there lol they can't be refunded no matter what

      • Can TCN cards be refunded? Surely they have breached their own T&Cs..

      • Not surprising, I saw a lot of people stuck at the gift cards aisle trying to figure out what to buy

    • +1

I didn't have to activate mine? All I had to do was scratch the PIN and use it at the eftpos machine. Very easy. I don't normally buy gift cards but I didn't have any issues identifying these either. They have in large letters "HOME" or "TEEN" written on them. That said the lady at JB Hifi thought I was using ultimate cards even after I corrected her so maybe they are similar.

      • They are referring to the automated activation process after you buy the card. ie, for TCN to load the balance onto it so it's ready to use.

  • I mean.. like the spirit of it but i am extremely ceebs going to a coles store at 9am especially when people are hiding them..
Then i weigh up is it really worth the saving when you don't know what you want

    • Dont buy if you do not need. Its $$ not spe t.

  • so does the self checkout actually block me from going over 5 gift cards? do they particularly care if I buy, say 10, split into 2 transactions at the one store? or would staff intervene?

    • +1

Yes till stops at 5. Yes staff won't let you buy more.

      • but I can just go to another store and Coles ain't tracking my credit card or anything and will block any transaction linked to that card right?

        • Yes I did this and it was fine. I even scanned my flybuys (didn't give any points though). Otherwise you just get a friend or partner to do it.

  • if Coles are out of the $100 I want, has anyone had any luck asking staff if they have more stock in the back? or do they generally keep absolutely everything they have on the shelves? no spare inventory they haven't unpacked or couldn't fit before?

if so. when is the best time/day to get there early for fresh restock? I've seen some people say get there 9am Friday as that's when they restock gift cards.

    • My local Coles said they re-stock Thursday night, I guess it varies store to store.

      • what time? like after closing hours meaning I should try Friday morning? or they'll restock right in front of you at some point late Thurs night?

        • I’m not sure, this Coles is open late so I assume the cards come in that night and they put them on the displays when they can.

  • can I convert 6x TCN cards (of varying types) into 1x JB Hi-Fi gift card? this would allow me to buy my PS5 online as 1 is the limit in checkout.

    • You can add unlimited jb hifi gift cards online

      • you 1000% certain? live chat said 1 is the limit for online checkout with third party gift cards.

        • +1

You can only use 1 third-party gift card online. However, you can convert ('swap') them all to JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards, such as here, of which are allowed in unlimited quantity online.

          • @ACDT: Finally my cards all show non-zero balances, but trying the swap to JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards via that link gives error:

"Please check your Card Number and try again. Or contact us for assistance."

            Maybe another 24 hours?

            • +3

              @sickagain:

              1. Register each TCN Gift Card.
Note: If it shows $0.00, the 'swap' will not accept the card. With the presumed backlog, it took 30 hours for the balance of two to come through (although the other three were instantaneous).

              2. Visit the respective sites after registration to swap the TCN Gift Card(s) for JB Hi-Fi Gift Card(s) and follow the on-screen instructions:
                (a) Home Gift Card
                (b) Teen Gift Card
                (c) Kids Gift Card

              3. Once at JB Hi-Fi Online, enter the associated Card Number and PIN for each JB Hi-Fi Gift Card.
Note: There is no limit to the number of JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards you enter in one transaction.

              • @ACDT: ahhh, gotta register them! I did wonder if that was the problem, anyhow, went into JB Hi-Fi, used 19 cards getting a TV and a bluetooth speaker, saved $277.50!

              • @ACDT: While registering the card it is giving me an error: "Request failed with status code 400", does anyone know what's the resolution for that?

              • @ACDT: if u wait long enough, it'd eventually work without registering (the rest that I bought from Wed, was all working today without the need of step 1 anymore - it does need to be registered when I used some yesterday, so registering kinda speed things up)

  • I had a couple with $0 balance that have just come good.

    • Same here.

    • same here, thankfully

  • Are these difficult to find in-store? I'm only after 2 x $50 as gifts.

    • Yes, all gone but tassy

  • Some stores may have more in the locked cage, re-shelf at quiet times.

Better chance of getting them from stores serving high population suburbs (medium-large stores) but away from transport hubs and large shopping centres (low foot traffic).

  • Went to TGG and tried purchasing a Miele washing machine. Was told that Miele products could not be purchased with the TCN cards. Has anyone else run into this problem?

    • Probably because they are just a middle man for Miele. Miele is the one who delivers the product.

Maybe try another store and only give the cards at till when asked for payment.

    • People here say that you can use TCN cards just like any eftpos card, so unless TGG staff tells you they won’t do split payments, this sounds like bullshit.
      Also see this comment: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14562132/redir

      • +1

It sounds correct to me. Some brands in TGG have their own payment processing facilities, and they won't be listed as accepted by TCN. Asko is another brand that likely will have the same issue. You aren't buying from TGG; you're buying from the brand who happen to have a presence in TGG stores.

        See: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/terms-and-conditions

        24 AGENCY PRODUCTS
TGG act as an agent on behalf of the manufacturer/suppliers listed below. Agency products refer to TGG as an “agent” on the product pages. Agency products are shipped directly from the manufacturer/supplier to the customer. When you purchase an agency product you are subject to their terms and conditions of sale below. From time to time, TGG receives commissions acting as an agent on behalf of the manufacturer/supplier, please see the attached list for details.

They then list Loewe, SMEG, Miele, AEG, Neff, Asko, Ilve, Kinsman

        • +1

So apparently Miele, Asko and Fisher & Paykel wont accept any of those "gift card" payments. I also had Ultimate cards too from BigW that were rejected too. **Heads up for anyone else looking into those brands.

          • @ikarntspel: …when buying a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher this week the trade website that TGG use to submit your order in real time with you gave the option of "pay at agent", the agent being TGG for F&P, of which TGG were happy to select this and we paid our gift cards to TGG and they will have to remit to F&P, presumably on their 30day trade account they use.

long story short, F&P is an 'agency' model using their own payment website, but TGG accept gift cards on your behalf.

  • I saw on the description that scooter hut was one of the shops. Can anyone confirm. And if so what card is it. Would appreciate any help guys

    • Scooter Hut was removed as a participating retailer from the Choice gift card within the last two days.

  • Pains me to see a full shelf of eligible cards in Woolies! (And no I’m not stealing them to activate downstairs at Coles!)

    • It doesn’t work :)

      • Tested?

        • +1

Gift card frenzies been around for ages. Bargainers have exhausted all options

          • @khamzatchimaev: Guess I won't bother stopping at Woolies on my way out the office today 😂

    • Don’t give them ideas

  • -1

        • +2

lol hope it is a joke otherwise rip

        • +1

How did you lose 15%? You didn’t lose anything, you just didn’t get a 15% discount.

    • almost got caught out to, it is not he variable load ones and not the ultimate ones

  • -1

Can anyone confirm if the choice card has scooter hut as part of the cards store options. I could'nt see it on the website. But had it in the description

    • Nope - scooter hut is not listed on the Choice card envelope.

  • Is there a limit to how many gift cards you can use at LEGO stores?
