        • Probably something along the line: they add some additional data in these card, and on the terminal's side in the merchant listed to match, so that it doesn't work for normal terminal. Same thing happened with those Ultimate giftcard, they're restricted (prepaid) visa you can use just like visa card at JB or the merchant listed, but won't work if you use it to pay your regular bill or ATO

  • How do ppl get pass 5 cards limit? I took 8 then when it reached 5 , the checkout machine stopped and said max limit reached and had to call the shop assistant (and had to call again to activate/entered issue date or something like that)..

      • +1

But even then each time you would need to ask store assistant to bypass the prompts on the screen right?

This lady explicitly asked me how many i have and told me its too many

  • Just went to 2 coles in Adelaide and no luck. Anyone know if they will re-stock or nah

    • +1

Most north east stores are finished by the looks of it

      • Found Home $100 at Coles Dernancourt at around 4pm (only $50 on display but $100 were inside the GC cupboard).

  • -7

Can anyone help - can these cards be used to pay off Council Rates? (Trying to meet my min spend on cc to get bonus pts)

  • Can someone please provide the link that allows you to convert these cards over to other gift cards eg JB?

  • Found some $100 Home cards but they did not work or have the discount?

    • yes, i had the same problem as well.

Did you approach the check-out persons to why ? They told me it's only $50 cards.

    • I accidentally picked up the "Ultimate" Home gift card first, not the TCN Home one - easy mistake to make.

      • that makes sense they only had Home gift cards so it must have been the ultimate and not TCN

  • Posting in case this helps anyone: TCN Home GCs (purchased 7:20AM this morning) cleared for me, paying at The Good Guys. The GCs went from showing 0 balance to full around 1.5 hrs ago.

    • Still waiting. I bought around 8:15 am.

      • TCN TEEN - 7:32am. all 5 showing zero

        • TCN Teen 15 x $50, all 0, 7:15.

          • @LittleMIssPanda: Must the morning rush - I bought two more HOME GC (what was left at the shop) 40 mins ago. all showing balance and activated.

      • Did you try this? If you didn't, give that a try.

PS: Also, make sure you tick the box underneath where you put the details, or you'll get the "… try again, or call us" error message.

        • yeah tried that on all of them, still shows $0 balance :(

          • @LittleMIssPanda: Did you by any chance tick the box? In my first trial I didn't and it didn't work. When I ticked it, it worked.

        • I tried. it is now "registered" (with confirmed email) with zero balance…

          • @superbass: Hmm! Have no idea, sorry. I bought one card early in the morning, and have just checked following those steps, and it's there. Hopefully someone else will help you out, or the balance will show up later, as others suggested in the comments.

            • @AussieDaddy: The ticked doesn't make differences, probably just give u more spam email, don't tick it. Some of us just got 0 balance that means card not activated yet. They're probably just been overwhelmed or have issue on TCN end

              • @hanofee:

Keep me up to date with exclusive deals and offers from The Card Network and Card.Gift. By continuing, I understand and agree to The Card Network

I think the ticked part is necessary for the site to show you the balance, particularly for the highlighted second part. I didn't tick it the first time and it didn't work. And then it showed the balance when I ticked it. And you can always unsubscribe later if they overwhelm you with spam email.

                • +2

@AussieDaddy: I've tried both tick/untick with 0 balance card, no differences, it's still 0. the one that works, worked too without ticking. I read the sentence more like you agreed to marketing options

            • +1

@AussieDaddy: thanks for trying to help. I assume its a system overload from the morning. (I ticked the box and tried again just now. still same. all g)

  • Does anyone know if one can mix TCN and Ultimate gift cards to purchase something from JB Hi-Fi or TGG? I have an old Ultimate GC that still has some money left in it from last year.

    • +1

      yep should be fine

  • i had $100 HOME cards, took them to the counter and it gave no discount. I exited out the transaction and they called a manager to assist.

Was told that TCN are not on sale firstly, then they said it's only for $50 cards only, not $100 ?

The catalogue doesn't say $50 denominations only ? the app allows you to add $100 pamper cards.

Anyone managed to get $100 home cards working with discount or any other $100 TCN cards ?

    • Yeah, got one after midnight. Someone (from a huge group that rushed into the store) had six cards, and one was taken off of them. Since they took all the cards, that was the only one I bought, and it's $100 Home card, with 15% off.

      • strange, i wonder why the $100 cards are not giving discount.

I went and got $50 choice cards instead and it gave discount, but there was no $100 choice cards to try. i might try $100 him cards next and see if it works.

        • +1

Are u sure, u didn't take Ultimate Home card? many ppl make mistakes due to similarity. TCN Home definitely works for both $50 or $100, I got both types earlier

        • Today i scanned 100 home cards and they came without discount.. if you look at the gold catalogue there is no image of the home card. I think the deal excludes the home gc.

    • Bought 8 x $100 home card between me and my partner all got 15% off. Just placed an order with jb HiFi

  • I went into JB this arvo to grab the kids an Xbox and the guy reckons they've been having troubles redeeming the cards today. I didn't want to take the chance and potentially pay it out if they didn't work so will go back in the next day or so.

Noob question, if I convert my ten $50 cards to proper JB card/s, can the total be combined onto one $500 card or will still have to deal with individual $50 amounts?

    • individual $50 each. you can buy from JB online using your $50 jb vouchers as there is no limit (based on what's on ozbargain)

      • Thanks, I've since registered them all so they appear to be working correctly.

  • +1

Anyone else notice you cannot redeem JBHiFi Gift Card's when price-matching a product over the phone and paying for it online? There's only a coupon field… I'm assuming you can use them online when purchasing normally but doesn't appear to be possible during payment of a price-matched product.

    • yap.

    • +1

I'm a numpty… goto click proceed to payment > then enter barcode :D

      • you can use them, right? I recall using them before

        • Yeah you still can it appears, I just didn't think to throw in my information and then select the next button that take's you to payment options.

    • Bought mine at 8:15am through automatic checkout. It said activating then activated. But it still has zero balance. I understand “activating” at the retailer is only part of the process and it still needs to be activated on TCN platform by TCN…this is where everyone with 0 balance is having an issue

  • Can you use the TCN cards directly at the retailer, say JB Hifi? Or do you have to convert them JB vouchers first?

    • +1

If u go to store, yes, it's an EFTPOS card, work like any EFTPOS card (they just put restriction on the store you can use)

    • +1

Can use it at the participating retailers as a normal eftpos

      • Great, thanks guys! Will be using these instore!

  • For giftcard with Xbox in it, can it be used to purchase PC Game Pass for months in advance?
Does Xbox/Microsoft payment page allow multiple gift cards?

    • You could make some big savings using a VPN to covert overseas Xbox Live into games pass. From memory it's roughly $40 a year for PC Ultimate. Search games pass to see all the ozb deals threads with step by step

      • Damn thats good saving!
Is that involving going to turkiye?
I had a look on that one it seems that its no longer working? Using oldubil etc.. but im no expert in this!

        • I haven't done it for a little while now so unsure on current deals. I banked up 3 years worth for 120ish. Just needed to vpn to redeem the Xbox Live codes, then turn off VPN and join games pass ultimate and it converted it all to au

      • Check reddit for a current method, but I believe all the OzBargain ones are no longer working.

  • +1

Realised I needed a few more cards for wife's items and went to another Coles to see if available. Gave up trying to find any for today and just went with this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/811079

As it where, there are a few more shops for our needs. Granted it's 5% less bonus, but significantly less headache for now.

  • Bit of a s..t show in terms of execution.
Went this morning at around 9am, coles had them behind the service desk.
Turns out they only had 2 of the card types (not the one I wanted) and only in the $100 denomination.

  • +4

    10 x Home $100 purchased this morning @ 8am. Showing $0 balance.

TCN - Run a gift card promo on black friday week and not be prepared….SMH

    • +1

im still waiting as well :C

      • 3 out of 5 activated with balance.. (all 5 bought at the same time) activation really seem random

        • +1

you'd think in this day and age it would be almost instant…

          • @pudgey01: Note. They need a blockchain like tron to handle these processes

        • -1

My wife and I bought 35 cards over 7 transactions across 4 different stores. Two batches of 5 have activated - the first set of 5 just after 8am and the last batch of 5 around 2pm. The 2pm ones were instantaneous. The batches in the middle still showing zero.

There is no rhyme or reason as to how quickly they get loaded. TCN helpline weren’t really much help. Just said unprecedented demand and their systems are cooked

          • @Mungbeans: What are you buying?

I want need a new tv but haven't had time to go to the shops yet.

            • @TEER3X: 15 of those cards will go towards JB hifis PlayStation 5 super man combo and extra controller

The other 20 because the wife went a bit over board “planning for the future just in case”. So not really buying anything with the other 20 x $50 cards. Might use it to pay down the credit bill

      • Same, still waiting for 5x to activate. My guess is wait until EFTPOS machines reconcile tonight at close of business. Still, not confidence inspiring in TCN. Not sure that I would bother next time.

    • People that got more than 5 get $0 on the extras.

      /s

    • the sheer number of people, backlogged maybe

i've bought once on day 1, had delays

then bought 2-3 days after it starts and was always instant

Went in this morning to get my dog some treats, checked the GC section, none left. I headed to the treats section and while looking for some pig's ears, I found six $100 home cards stashed there. Picked up 5 and checked out. Left 1 for the dipshit who had stashed them there.

    • +2

      hahaha thats gold…

shoulda just moved that 1 somewhere else instead of leaving it

    • +1

More dog treats to thank your dog then

    • +1

You are kind to leave one haha

  • Do this gift cards have an activation fee ?

    • no activation fee

      • -4

100 cards of $50 still got 50 card home $100 for myself to be grab. Got someone I know on checkout don't mind scanned more 5+ plus 2% cash backkk double WOOOTTTT…..

        • -2

Limit 5 Gift Cards per customer

Not to mention the theft here

          • @Elquines: lol not a theft paid multiple times the deal with my extra money lol

            • -3

@And3: lmao good stuff mate, there are so many people in the comments that are salty af because they didnt cop any.

I managed to grab 20 x $100 and 20 x $50 ones, so 15% extra off the already on sale macbook pro is going to be perfect :)

    • You’re really gambling that nothing goes wrong with those gift cards. Be it activation issues, the gift card company going into receivership prior to you using them or some sort of data breach.

I would never lock that amount of money into gift cards.

      • +1

        Thanks dad

        • Sugarrrrr daddyyy

        • The joke being I’m careful with money and that makes me mature? Ha, good one 🙄

  • Bought some last year and only just used them all up last month so time to stock up.

Got some sketchy looks and the "talk" for scams.. twice

First day always is a shitshow. Usually calms down after 2-3 days. Great timing for BF

    • So they replenish cards on the shelf at coles stores? My local has run dry

      • +1

Yeah my local restocked after 2 days. I randomly checked and there were plenty of $100 Home cards.

  • you can use these in outlet stores as well or nah?

like Nike, tommy hilfiger, adidas, etc

  • How to convert them to JB hi-fi e-cards though the TCN website? I do it first time and I don't understand. I could find this option on TCN website

  • As mentioned in prior posts, wife and I got 35 (at 4 different stores). Bought at automatic checkout and they had put a 5 card limit on them where the machine suspended until an attendant came over to check the number I was buying.

One of them failed so had to restart and as I was rescanning it another teller came up and said I saw you scanning 5 before, I’ll need to take these from you as you’ve already bought 5. Had to call over the first teller to prove to the 2nd one that I was just redoing it. This was at st Ives Coles

Good to see them policing the 5 card max limit

    • +2

      Same but worst!!

I went to Collingwood / VIC to get some chips and drinks for my snack time this afternoon.

I was about to pay my foodies and leave at self serve kiosk, there was an argument between Coles staff and young asian female customer over gift cards issue. What I saw the customer had a handful of TCN gift cards (I saw most "Choice - $50.00) Staff requested her to return "all" gift cards and called security guard to remove her from Coles.

      • +1

Damn! But good on them if the customer was trying to buy more than 5. I had to drive to 4 different stores so no sympathy for someone trying to be lazy and copping multiples at one store

  • Can we buy apple gc at jb using this gift card?
