    • no you cant buy a gift card with a gift cards I was told a few months ago by the store manager.

  • Went to Camberwell… allllllllllllllllllll gone

  • grab 5 teen cards just now.

  • All gone in the Big W I went too also, probably took it to Coles to buy? lol

  • has the home issue been resolved where the discount wasn't scanning on the $100 ? I assume it's absolute rare as hens teeth to find any of these in $50 or $100 - based on my run around for the same deal last year? I want to buy a $300 TGG item which would save me $45…will try the hunt tmr morning but expect it may be too late…

    • still pay $100 for it then bring it up to staff and they're obligated to give it to you FREE right? due to some clause? if what you pay doesn't match the listed sale price they have not just refund you but give it free (I've heard). receipt has to match shelf price.

      • Hahaha. That doesn’t exist anymore.

        • Yes it does, but probably not for gift cards

  • I bought 5 Home gift cards worth $50 each, with $50 available balance. However, I am unable to convert them into JB-HIFI online cards. On the other hand, my wife has 5 Kid gift cards worth $30 each, with $0 available balance. We used the same card but made purchases at different stores around 9:30 AM AEST. I think I may end up regretting this investment.

  • Still waiting on my 5x $100 Home cards to activate from 7am this morning, meanwhile the other 15 bought by family members throughout the day, as recent as 2hrs ago have activated.

  • Still wait on ones brought 9am to get balance
    Is there a overnight job?

Also if convert to JB HIFI i assume balance won't show on card network as card doesn't exist anymore

    • If u convert all, then ur balance on TCN becomes 0

These deals really bring out the ozbargain leeches. The types that have next to no posts and no post comments besides demanding questions.

Just take and never contribute anything to the community.

    • +1

very true. whenever I click on the names who flexes about buying 30+ cards, they seemed to have zero posts.

      • -7

Yes? Did someone say my name?

        • one of many. (i didn't downvote you btw)

      • Ozbrgn Neighbourhood watch 😀

    • Yup, I saw some of them bugging a staff member at the Elizabeth St Coles tonight, he was like "No none of the left here are covered"

    • please don't be referring too me :(

I only need $650 worth to get a PS5 (13x $50) and was originally getting the Slim but don't like the look of it so feel pressured to get the OG model before it's phased out nation wide. I was gonna pay $679 on Amazon and just refund the game bringing it to $592.61 but with TCN I get it from JB for $581.50 and get to KEEP the game.

  • Is there any way to add the gift card to Apple Pay wallet?

  • Very strange that 5x$100 ones i bought at 8Am WA time are still not activated but 3 x $50 ones i bought at 12PM have.

  • How come noone bought the Active variety. Plenty of thise and cinema ones left too. There were some shop ones left too but didnt realise they were discounted too

  • 5 of my cards still haven't been activated yet…..(all from the same store)
2 other cards got activated immediately (from another store)

I wonder if the activation is location based. eg which Coles you buy it from.

    • +1

it seem like it's completely random.
I bought 5 in the morning - one transaction, one location, one receipt.
3 of them has balance, 2 of them zero balance. funnily enough 2 with zero balance were scanned first (the receipt has the part of bar code you can check against on your cards).

    • I am still waiting for 5 of my cards. 22 hours now,

  • So what's the strategy for tomorrow morning, everyone? I'm ready to run like Naruto.

    • +2

you will need to use shadow clone jutsu

      • +1

Haha, was about to comment the same. Wrong jutsu. Need 1000 clones to all Coles

  • +3

I really should have bought more of that giftcards deal we had with 15% on variable loads. so much easier to add on the phone and to pay as well…
Why they always exclude variable load? people will buy 10 cards instead of only 2, which is such a big waste and annoying for everyone to pay with it… I’ll buy some for future purchases but man. they do try to make it harder for everyone

    • When did this happen?

  • +1

OK this going to be fun going in to JB Hi-Fi with 62 cards to pay for the $4000 TV.

    • +1

      Record was 81 apparently.

    • +1

Please film it and share on youtube

  • +2

Noticed there are 2 URLs to check gift card balance and expiry date:

    1) https://cms.thecardnetwork.com.au/checkbalance
    2) https://choice.gift/pages/check-balance

The second link also registers the gift card, it emails an unique registration code, so lost card can be replaced.

  • -1

So just to confirm if you want to use these at JB Hifi you need to get the Teen ones?

It's an interesting business model. I would have thought they would just work at all the shops they were partnered with but list the ones related to him, her, teen etc on the card.

    • +1

I see multiple that support JBs. Have you read the list?

      • -1

Yeh I think in this deal it's teen and home.

It's easy to know which ones lol just go to Coles and whichever ones aren't there that's it.

Thought I hit the jackpot this morning when there was a heap of him gift cards on the shelf.

What a strange deal it's all the same company with similar retailers but only some of their cards.

Someone has to be losing money here because olif there was money to be made surely the $50-500 cards would be included and they would just let people go ham and buy however much they want.

  • I have a load of these cards in $50,

What is the advantage of converting these to JB Hi-Fi if that is where I am going to be using them in one transaction?

    • +3

The main one is you can use it at JB Hi-Fi online.

Side benefit is JB Hi-Fi gift cards don’t expire, not that you are going to hold it for more than a year.

Also TNC “can” remove JB-HiFi from the retailer list, so it will mitigate that risk, again slim chance.

      • Where do you go to swap your GC into JBhifi? I went to the tcn website but I cannot see any option to swap my card.

    • -1

For me I just convert in whatever gift cards I can (jb or Apple) because I have zero trust in the company that runs these stupid cards

      • I do not have any trust in these card issuers neither.

  • 20 mins shy of 24 hours and mine still not active. This is getting worrying

    • Same for me. All 5 cards still have no balance. Bought 24 hours ago.

    • Mine just got activated. bought around 8am yesterday.

      • Updated. 3/5 is now activated.

    • 24 hours later, 3/5 of mine is activated. still waiting for the other 2

    • +3

      Coles + TCN = Optus?

  • 2/10 activated… getting mildly annoyed now. Purchased yesterday around 8.

  • +8

i hate GC 15% promotions with passion, be it cards gone in a few hours. ozbargain hordes (usually one certain demographics) circle around card aisle, hiding cards elsewhere, shoplifting cards home, supermarket staff power trip (usually coles, woolies much chillied). they should put cards behind counter for regulation purposes

    • +2

It has been ugly, and I've seen a side to OzBargain I don't like at all. Some people here have no moral compass… stealing is not a bargain, it's an offence.

      • how is stealing even possible? I see these stories and I don't get it. are the alarms not programmed to go off as the gift cards won't be activated (and therefore useless) so they don't care if you leave with a defunct product?

        • Maybe they bring them back later to pay for and to activate.

This is a whole new level from hiding them instore, a risk/trouble not worth of taking.

    • +2

Online deals on card.gift are much better

      Save fuel
      Save time and
      No need to hide stuff

    • yeah… i saw someone hide them in the frozen section at the bottom last year for Amazon cards (4 cards).

The checkout person was like.. where did you find these!?

He was like what do you mean it was on the shelf

  • more than 24 hours now and not activated. Really annoyed as want to spend it this morning on Christmas gifts before kids go on school holidays tomorrow.

      • its come good now thankfully

  • +1

Are there any plans on coles restocking these at all? I called my local coles up this morning and they advised that there wouldnt be anymore coming in.

    • +1

My local store said that these card usually come once a week.
      So practically no chance

  • +1

Hi all, it's been over 24hrs for me now and none of my cards are working. I got 5 x $30 and 5x $50 TEEN cards for use at JB Hi-Fi. I tried converting them to JB Hi-Fi gift cards on the TCN website: The $50 ones say "Please check your Card Number and try again", and the $30 say "Insufficient card amount".

I've tried calling TCN support line but the line is constantly busy and they seem to have no queue, it just rings out. Is anyone else in this situation, or know what I should do? I'm a bit worried I've purchased duds.

    • same situation here, I got through to TCN support and they said the card info was not successfully sent through to them from Coles.
Now I have to contact Coles Customer Care team to resolve this issue….

      • yikes!

      • I finally got onto TCN support after 1hr+ on the phone. They told me that there are two separate issues:

        1. The cards are taking longer than usual to load balance, causing the "Insufficient card amount" error.

        2. There is a bug in their software causing the "Please check your Cad Number" error and they are working to fix it. There is no ETA on a fix. Apparently they still work in store, but I haven't tested that yet.

        • same thing happening to me. I converted one to jbhifi voucher rest showing " Please check your Card Number" error. If i hadnt converted one to jbhifi voucher I would have gone directly to jbhifi. This is bloody annoying.

          • @carlJack: This is exactly what i did. I skipped the conversion as i know their system is being hammered right now.

          • @carlJack: can't you still take the one that has been converted and the rest physical cards straight to JB or is it showing as zero balance?

          • @carlJack: Are they showing in TCN as having $ on them but it's just not letting you convert them? Im keen to convert mine to JB but don't want to risk the $ disappearing down the TCN rabbit hole!

  • Update:

After 24hrs, all 7 of my cards have been activated and loaded with the correct balance.

As advised by their hotline yesterday, if the funds are not in after 24hrs, you'll need to call Coles Head office (not the individual stores)

  • Went to grab a few after my night shift. Was not paying attention and got charged the full amount (no 15% off)… What on earth? Did you need to ask them to apply the discount?

    • Did you definitely get the ones that were part of the deal? My discount came off instantly at the till, didn't need to do anything

    • +1

Nope it should be automatic 15% at checkout. Maybe you grabbed the wrong ones (eg. For him/her cards).

It is quite confusing since they're all TCN cards but only a few is one sale.

  • 4 out of my 5 now active. So random how one is not. All purchased at the same as time…

    • Have exact same case as you, already over 24h, it's rather a mess :(

      • Lol, this is more stress than it's worth.

        • +1

100% will never buy TCN cards again

        • update: mine is activated now, not sure since what time as it's still 0 in the morning, so over 24h but less than 48h

    • How to tell if it's active or not? Just check balance online?
You dont have to activate before using right? Usually with these giftcards, dont you just go to store, scratch the card to reveal pin and pay using it?
      Is it different now?

  • 3 out of 5 of mine are active. Going to try Coles Head office

    • Mine are all working now, just needed time

  • Any point in going to Coles beyond opening time to find some of these teen & home GCs? Interested in Xbox but not going sniper camp like other ozbs have been.

    • Wait for the next one

      • I checked out the local on a milk run, just GIFT & HIM/HER ones left

  • When you don’t participate in these in-store cluster @$&#! 15% sales, and sit back reading the comments watching the disaster unfold.

    • LOL. Thats exactly how I did not go yesterday. I have feeling there would be cluster ($@)k! on activation and waiting and crying and angry…Too much emotional cost for 15% off in-store.

  • Coles are going to send me an email with the information I need to send through to their gift card team. Apparently takes 3-5 business days for the to sort out once I send them the images. FFS

    • +1

I am not sure how much i trust this info. I think TCN system is still backed up. All of mine cards are now activated. Some definitely took more than 24 hours.

      • hopefully that's the case

        • Why not deal with TCN directly? Probably easier? There's a webform you can fill in their contact on the website (yes, you need to supply the card details too, which I'm not sure is the wise thing to do)

    • Has happened with me.
Some call centre staff will say - go back to store for refund

  • I've just seen this on the TCN website
Due to the high volume of sales, you may experience a slight delay with the loading of your cards.

Our call centre staff cannot assist with the loading of your cards and please check back for your card balance.

    • yea this is new, was advising 24hrs before
