        • Your message triggered me to check my TPG online account.
I applied for credit a few days ago, and can see the $100 is already applied (modem did cost more).
Since they say rebate I assume it's max of $100 or modem cost.

  • Deal was extended

  • Horrible experience.! Avoid.. Signed up on 4th December for FTTP Upgrade plan. Sent wrong modem. Received Vx220 instead of vx520. Said will resend, but still not received. Started getting intermittent disconnections. Several times a week. Lodged fault, but never get a response. Customer service with horrible wait times. Be prepared to wait at least an hour.
Queried about my FTTP technician appt for upgrade only to be told that it was not ordered. WTH. Now, they won't honor the $250 bonus.

Switch bait. They just want to churn you over. I am ready to file a complaint to TIO and move away. There are alot of similar complains on their forum page too.

  • Sorry if this sounds a bit silly but my housemate, who has a FTTC plan with TPG, is moving out. I was thinking of making him cancel his plan for myself to take advantage of the FTTP upgrade as a new customer. Would this be possible?

Yeah as long as your name is not on the current bill.

        Preem thanks!

  • How long after NBN installation did it take for people to receive the $250 credit?

    • this, and how does it apply? does it just wipe out your first couple of bills and just reduce the 3rd?

      • You'll have to pay interim service pro rata until fibre is installed.
The first fibre bill you'll have to pay, unless you claim a modem rebate.
Next bills will be offset with credit on your account.

I claimed modem rebate so only paid pro rata for the interim service and account is in credit now.

        • Cool. My fibre is installed so I’m assuming credit will apply off my next bill

Signed up on 26 Dec, got installation date for FTTP for 17 Jan.
Applied for $100 modem rebate on 27 Dec, credit applied to my account on 1 Jan, email confirmation about eligibility on 12 Jan.
nbn install completed on 17 Jan.
Waiting for $250 credit to be applied, will update once received.

Personally had great experience so far, can't speak for others of course.

My NBN installation was on 9 Jan. I still have not received my $250 credit, but they already deducted the plan difference from my account. I.e. I had to pay an additional $30.

      • I can confirm the $250 credit was added to my account, and account is now showing roughly $300 in credit.
I only prepaid the first month internet.
So roughly 12 days after upgrade to get the credit in my case.

    • is this faster than FTTC?

      • FTTC maximum is 100/40.

        FTTP has 250/25, 1000/50, 250/100, 500/200 and 1000/400.

  • Trying to work something out here, it says I can get $30/month off the $250 plan which brings it down to $95, is the $250 credit in addition to that?

    • +1

The $250 is on top of the $30/month off for 6 months.
You can also stack with another $100 if you buy a new router and claim it.

      • How much are the new routers? Are they worth getting? As in do they cost more than an hundred and if so are they worth more than the price - 100 bucks?

        • +1

If you're happy to pay the internet anyway, you could basically get yourself a free or cheap travel router.
You have 1 month before/after you sign up to lodge the claim, so you technically have some time to find a deal you like.

          • @johnmelb: So you can buy your router from anywhere? I'm actually after something that has a printer server on it, as I have a couple of old but perfectly fine printers which could be better utilised via network. Also would be good if I could use it for running a file share/backup service, without having to buy and run an additional PC or RPi.

What proof if any do you need to provide for the modem rebate?

            • +1

              @Jackson:

New customers only. The modem must be purchased from an Australian retailer with a valid ABN within 30 days before or after your TPG NBN application. Your receipt must be scanned with the date and receipt number clearly legible. The rebate request must be submitted within 30 days after your TPG NBN application. Limit of one claim of $100 credit per receipt per customer account. Any issued modem rebate will be issued as a credit on your TPG account; any unused credit cannot be refunded. The modem must be compatible with the NBN as per the requirements here. Rebate scheme may be withdrawn at any time.

  • I would stay away from TPG from now on. Their customer service which is based in the Philippines gone astray. I have been very frustrated lately with these customer service people (Monkeys) who will bluntly say yes, yes for anything and does not listen to what the customer on the other line wants/requested. I have been with them for over 7 years and it was all fine until when i needed to disconnect for a house move. I specifically requested for a disconnection on a particular date as i'm still WFH. They however disconnect my internet just in a couple days. When I called and asked once i received the cancellation email on the cancellation day, they rectify and extended the disconnection time to the initial agreed date. Well, that's what she said and confirmed over the phone. The next day, in the middle on a very important meeting, i lost internet without any notification and when i called, they said that i do not have an account anymore and my account is disconnected and there is no way of reopening unless they create a new account and the process will take a few days!! They are full of Bull…. I've now decided to go with another ISP for our new property for FTTP instead of TPG. Really not worth, my brain cells, the stress and frustration, 1 hour phone call everytime i called, the time for me to type this feedback, etc. Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth
