Keep in mind Exetel needs 30 days' notice to cancel plans
They will send you an invoice for 30 days service after you cancel.
All you need to do is send them an email such as:This invoice of charging for an already cancelled service is in clear violation of my rights protected by Australian Consumer Law thus I should not be responsible for this payment.
I refer to the following website for reference:
https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/buying-products-and-servic…I received the following reply the next day:
Hope you are doing well.
This is to inform you that we have waived off the invoice issued for $83.11 for unused days.
You will receive a minus invoice within 2 - 3 business days to reflect the same. Further, your service records will be fully inactivated from 11th December.
Can I do this for all internet providers?
According to the ACCC, I don't see why not.
to clarify, you mean they're charging you for an extra month?
That's correct. As soon as I churned my service, they issued me a new invoice for a full month from that churn date.
@Thomdom: You should have just informed them a month before and churn on that last day. Not sure why you doing this. You can always schedule when to switch to new provider. Unless new ISP requires you to churn over immediately with short notice
@neonlight: Why should I pay for a service I’m not receiving? I’d prefer not to throw away my money. Besides, I took advantage of the 12 month Superloop deal along with the cashback. A no brainer really!
So just to clarify, you churned without notifying them and then when they charge you for the following month you sent that response?
Yep, that's exactly what happened.
@Thomdom: Awesome thanks, Spintel have been crap for me so need to change.
Hi @Thomdom,
I saw your post and noticed you seem familiar with Australian Consumer Law. I’ve got a question about washing machine warranties and was hoping you might be able to help.
I bought a Bosch washing machine, and after 8 months, it started leaking because the door seal broke. When I contacted Bosch, they pointed me to their warranty policy, which says door seals aren’t covered. Honestly, no one would read those details until they run into a problem like this. It feels like this goes against ACL since the machine didn’t even last for basic use during the warranty period.
Do you think this could be a breach of ACL?
I’m still contacting and pushing them, but things are stuck at the moment.
Thanks in advance!
No idea sorry, I just followed advice from a post I saw on here earlier.
Yes, I would complain in writing to Bosch and point to the Australian Consumer Law. They have published guides re various products.
Spend some time on their website. https://www.accc.gov.au/
Bosch's 'warranty' is irrelevant, unless you broke the seal, they have breached consumer guarantee (the guarantee of acceptable quality).I had Samsung come out and repair a washing machine years after the warranty expired for free. You are pushing after 5 years but 8 month, no issue at all.
Try contacting the retailer if the manufacturer is giving you the run around.
I’m guessing this is an upsize, right?
Say so. Had one last month too.
Interesting that the 100/20 is higher than the 100/40. Exetel have higher profit margins on that I guess?
Also makes the 6 month cost of 100/20 cheaper than 50/20. $295.94 v $325.94.
damn, i enrolled on 100/20 for $70 cashback two weeks ago
Same signed up last week 100/20 cash back $70.00 now a week later it is $100.00 cash back sigh.
Any idea how long this lasts?
not bad, it makes it $45p/m for 100/20 after cashback
How? (65.99×6-100)÷6 = $49.32
Was a rough calculation in my head
Just for this cashback, you only have to be there for 90 days before you can churn again. So it's really ((65.99×3)−100)÷3 = $32.66. Given the discounted plan it's probably still better to stay and average up to your figure.
Thanks OP. I’m currently with super loop and was looking to move to Dodo, but this works out cheaper. I find TopCashback to be better than others, even though they have a smaller collection of stores.
Finally got my notice of increase for 50/20 to $79.99 (meanwhile they're handing out cashbacks up to $100…)
Think it's time to change.. maybe More? With Yello discount can get 250/20 for 12 months for less than the increase.
Exetel for some reason not offering 1000/50 except for business accounts.
Thanks OP, just switched over
The $100 cashback for the Family Plan (100/20) is a no-brainer given it's only $5 or so more a month from the 50/20 plan.
thanks op
Thanks OP, just switched over from Tangerine.
Can you flip between Exetel and Superloop and remain a new customer?
Thanks, OP! Do you know if the referral code can also be applied?
But i'm already with Exetel. :(
