After a not good experience with my last purchase from Starbuy, been checking Watch Depot more lately.

    • What happenend?

Keen to know too. Was about to grap something in the next few months.

Watch depot is amazing. Been buying a few times there and even had a change of mind return. No dramas whatsoever

    • Had a used watch delivered but saying it’s new, it was returned and refunded so all good but not keen on getting from them anymore.

      • Can you elaborate more how you differentiate it was used watch? Was the plastic still on the watch or you found some finger print on the band, considering it’s stainless steel?

        • There’s no plastic on the watch, just the tag. It’s titanium. Scratches were on the caseback. Said that they’ll check other stocks and send me another new one but when I follow up, was immediately refunded.

If you want a metal bracelet (ion-plated black too) rather than a rubber strap, the CB5009-55E is only a bit more at $475. I prefer the colour scheme too.

It is going to look good on you.

Got it. Cancellation and refund took less than 5 min

          • @rosebank: One of the things I like about these E660-based watches is they have a proper running seconds hand, unlike so many chrono watches which use a seconds subdial and the second hand only runs while the chrono is on.
On the downside, the chrono on these is a bit of a faff to use, not that I've ever used any chrono for anything other than playing with.

          • @rosebank: Ripped off, it's now $467, two bucks less than Starbuy :D

  • Hi. I recently bought this Citizen Promaster CB5034-91W from Watch depot.

    https://www.watchdepot.com.au/products/citizen-cb5034-91w-pr…

It's working accurately and I am getting the radio signal here in Melbourne. However, the Watch keeps on reverting back to Summertime OFF (SMT OFF) every night.
I manually override it during the day, but it's an issue.

To all the owners of Citizen RC watches, any suggestion is welecome. I couldn’t find much information about this.

    Thanks

    • I think there's an app. Check the comments: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/778269

      • I have used the app in the start, but the Watch itself tries to calibrate after midnight.
Unless I find a way to manually turn it off, for some reason it just turns of the Summertime setting to OFF.
Every morning, when I check it's 1 hr behind and shows that the Radio reception was OK.

I will try using the app above though.

    • How the hell are you getting a radio signal in Melbourne?

If you have the watch set to a time zone where summer time is off (eg Tokyo), the watch will change to that even if you manually change the SMT to 'on'.

      • I dont know but every morning it reverts back one hour but the timezone is SYD and the time itself is correct to seconds.
The Radio reception setting also confirms that it worked pointing to OK.

Weird, yeah as far as I knew it's hard to get a signal here.

Try setting the time zone to TYO then turning summer time off for that zone (pg 36 in the manual), then set it back to SYD with SMT on. I suspect what is happening is that it is automatically responding to the summer time signal in the JJY signal - ie, no daylight savings - and changing it regardless of your current time - "watch can change summer time (DST)/standard time indicationautomatically when it receives time signals including summer time"

If you set SMT OFF for the TYO zone then it should ignore any summer time setting in the radio signal, and thus leave your manual setting for SYD alone.

          • @Astronaut Joe: Thanks 👍 for your input, will give it a go tonight.
            Will update.

          • @Astronaut Joe: I did what you suggested, but after one day the watch reverted back to SMT OFF setting. You can have a look here.

The second hand is pointing 👉 to OK. So, yeah I am getting a signal here.

Any other suggestions mate. Maybe I should contact Citizen support.

            Thanks.

@singhstaaa: Yeah I dunno. The way I read the manual it should have switched off adjusting for DST, obviously either I'm wrong or the manual is wrong or both.

Still amazed you not only get a signal, but regularly get a signal. I'm much more north and I've never had a skerrick of reception (and, as a result, not had an issue with DST getting reset!)

The solution might be to leave DST as off, and offset the time zone by one so that you get the correct time?

              • @Astronaut Joe: Thanks for your reply. I will search for other solutions.

I learned a new word today, 'skerrick'.
Yeah, I am surprised same as you but the radio reception is not OK everyday though, more like every other day.

What you are suggesting is more of a temporary workaround but I will give it a go as well.

      • I've read about people receiving signal from Japan in Queensland, but receiving it in Melbourne is nuts

        • Yeah, first I thought it's a one time thing but no it's been happening every other day now.
          Strange

          • @singhstaaa: Do you live in a high rise apartment with a bedroom that faces north with a clear line of sight?

            • @MS Paint: Not in a high rise, but on the first floor in a East facing room in Melbourne's south east.

            • @MS Paint: I did what you suggested, but after one day the watch reverted back to SMT OFF setting. You can have a look here.
