    • HN put one on for me, they have some machine that does the zagg isod ultra clear screen protectors. came out sweet. was $49

    • Universal Phone Store. $10

      Samsung one, but it fits

    • This won't help you now, but I'd advise buying some cheapies on Amazon (or eBay). I got some the other day for about $12 with included lense protectors, next day delivery. It's always good to have spares as they inevitably do their job and crack in time.

  • When i picked mine up, they wanted to refund me $1 lol

I paid $100 for 256, when I went to the register to finalise the order as processed, the sales guy said is $99, not $100….

    • You didn't say anything, right?

      • +3

Took that $1 and contributed another $1 to port out

        This is the Ozbargain way

  • -7

Can someone put it in steps please
    Step 1 : ?

    • +2

It's pretty simple if you just read the post, but…

Step 1: Enter Harvey Norman store.

Step 2: Say you want to buy a Pixel 8 Pro with the $69 Optus plan. They'll know exactly what you're talking about.

Step 3: Sign up for the plan and receive the phone.

Step 4: Cancel the plan in the car park. Don't delay, you'll be paying more if you do.

Step 5: Pay the Optus bill.

What’s the total cost end up being?

People above are saying $828 total cost no longer possible?

    • +1

I wrote a massive post several pages back, it detailed everything from start to end including a script on how to cancel online.

Just picked up from my phone from the Auburn "Flagship" store, however it seems the Wiley Park store has not yet received stock, My partner pre-ordered the day before I did, and nothing :( - Has anyone here received their pre-orders from Wiley Park?

    • +1

Called early this morning and was advised of sometime next week. P8P 256GB Black

    • +1

Wiley park store is BS! they have stock for sale but for Optus they don't want to use those devices.

      • +1

That is no good at all! - just called and asked if they have any P8 Pro's available to purchase outright, apparently no stock, however they did mention they have stock of the normal P8 (non pro).

@Okayy, out of curiousity, how do you know they have stock for sale?

          • +1

@Okayy: I just called Wiley Park, and the staff member said they have Outright stock, and apparently the plan stock is different, they will be calling me back in 5-10 min otherwise I'm heading in store to dispute it in person.

That is absolute BS ….. Will keep you posted !

  • +7

So the morale of the story is to not pre-order but instead wait until the release day, call around and find a store with it in stock so you can go and collect and cancel Optus 30 mins later (avoiding the first $69)…..?

    • You could definitely pre-order, but yeah, you've got the gist.

    • I should have done this.. not pre-ordering and still having to wait

  • Cheers OP! I haven't seen any anyone else say about a $150 gift card but my guy gave me one of those too. Although I paid $99 for the zag. Still pumped

    • You got the $150 bonus gift card as well?
      Nice, your lucky.

I dont think anyone got it

      • Yep. Sales guy was walking me toward the cashier and said "oh yeah, you get the$150 gift card too" then told the cashier "it started today" 🤷

        • -2

          Right…

Most people pre-ordered. So if you go in today and do the transaction, you get $150 gift card

        • u just lucky person was misinformed. I queried that 150 gc and they said it was for an outright purchase of the phone.

        • Yeah no you definitely just got lucky with a misinformed employee. That isn't supposed to happen.

    • +2

      you definitely shouldntve gotten that

      • +1

I will take his name to my grave 🤣

      • bahaha

      • Uh oh, we've got a HN rep in here now!

Is it true that HN stores with no stock are not taking any more orders? Some stores are also refusing to provide this deal on new number, only port in?

        • Gah, you beat me to question 2!

        • hahahahaha
weird that stores arent taking orders, its a sale.

stores avoiding new numbers know that the deal got ozbargained, they think port guarantees no cancellation

      • Hypothetically…… is it possible to cancel the gift card in retrospect now that it has already been provided?

        • doubt it,
salesperson thought what they did was ok so probably wont get to their managers. and if it did i doubt they would care and probably would just eat the loss

    • Nice! Did you pre-order or sign up that day? I got the $550 gift card for pre-ordering the phone and watch bundle.

  • Does anyone know if I can port my number out to this plan at the store without my current phone? I lost my phone a week ago and Dodo still hasn't sent me a new sim.

I want to order asap but not sure if its possible without active Sim. Can they do it just by identifying me?

    Thanks in advance

    • +1

nah we need 6 digit SMS from that number to port, deal expires on 19th so hold hope you get it before then

      • Cheers, would there be some way to port it out at a later time if I just got a new number now?

        • nah once you sign the contract that number that is assigned to it is locked

  • -2

Extremely annoyed so I ordered the phone on the 8th October and the sales guy told me it will be ready for pickup on Friday. I gave a ring today to see if i could pick up earlier and now they’re telling me mine isn’t ready and I have to wait 3-4 weeks. 😡

    • Oh well, you got a half price phone. Surely you can wait a few weeks. Stock shortages happen.

      • It’s not so much that I just hate when someone says something and it doesn’t happen. I prefer people be straight up with me and tell me that it will prob take 3-4 weeks.

        • I don't think they intended to lie to you. Employees often don't know how much stock they're gonna get. More customers than phones? Delay.

    • +1

That sucks man. I didn't even pre order and just went in today and picked one up.

  • Anyone else get the gift card?

    • Why, did you? There has been one other report of that. Maybe some communication error between some stores, because that should NOT be happening.

      • If that should not be happening then my answer is no….. I did not 😇

        • Haha lucky you. Hoping I don't get the gift card either! That wouldn't be okay and I would really hate if they gave me $150 I shouldn't have!

  • Harvey Norman employee called me saying the box had sustained significant damage during transit and opened the box to assess its condition. Unfortunately, it was found that the screen had a crack in it :(

HN rep said that he is going to try source another P8P from another store. 😭😭

    • What store?

      • +1

Adelaide City Cross, not sure what store they will source it from though

    • I'm in the same boat. Porting is not working… How did you manage to get the 49$ plan? Did they offer you that for all the hassle?

        • How much data is included?

        • Can I ask who were you porting from.??

        • I'm assuming no, but if you cancel will you get the phone for even less?

    • Confirm with them that cancellation fee won't be charged as they seem oblivious to realising this is not helpful if they sting you with this fee.

Others here have commented that the fee still applies but we're only told after confirming with the rep.

  • Actually had a great experience in Toowoomba. They were very understaffed and yet took their time, didn't try to oversell etc. They only have the black left in the 256g.

  • Got a 128gb from Castle Hill this afternoon. Ordered processed at 5pm and cancelled before 6pm. The poor retentions team member was genuinely confused and asked me to clarify what the situation was after I successfully cancelled the plan 😂 Then proceeded to congratulate me on a great bargain! $828 - done deal!

    • +1

I don't get all the cancelling. After you take that fee, it averages at about $30/month for the two years for 100gb

      • I am using this sim now and even at full range, data speed sucks.

Have to cancel it, can't live with this stupid provider.
There are dropouts every now and then. Either they have bad infra or too many customers. Either way, NO from my side.

        • Fair enough. I'll give it a little while and can always cancel then if I don't like it

      • Already have a Optus service. Couldn't get my number transferred across

      • I totally am with you on this one, I'm not sure why everyone is cancelling unless their usage keeps them under $30 a month. I use about 40GB a month, and the best plan I could really find is the $39 student plan from optus, or vodafone price matching it with the retention team. It works out better for me to stay on the plan, than to get the phone "half price" and go find another simo plan.

        • Nah mate, I'm on $19/m 5GB/m with Belong (grandfathered). Don't really use much since I have Wi-Fi at home. I'm sure you can get a similar deal with the yearly plans on other MVNOs

          • @aeoz: Hence why I said it probably isn't worth cancelling unless you spend under $30 a month!

          • @aeoz: Yeah I think even on boost you can get deals around $200 a year, so two years is $400

Termination fee + $400 still cheaper

There’s no way this phone will be under 900 likely end of next year

        • If you get Boost or Woolworths mobile I believe it’s cheaper.

          • @neonlight: I haven't seen any plans that offer close to 500GB a year (for my usage), and have decent roaming options as I do travel frequently.

  • Anyone considering Otterbox Defender case take a look in JB…. Even though i was able to get it down $70 online pricematch.. I immediately returned and got a refund when I picked it up! That thing is BRICK. You'll need two hands to operate that phone with it. So chunky and ugly.

    • -1

You didn't look at the case or anything before buying it..?

      • my bad judgement. so different seeing online than physically seeing it.

  • Usually, I go with Urban Armor Gear (UAG) cases but the scout case is ugly as.

Any suggestions on a tough case that is good quality? I've only used UAG for about 5 years and they are ace for quality.

    • Dbrand ghost case

      • Legend I'll check it out

      • This is the case I want. I emailed them a few days ago asking if they have it in stock yet and I've not heard back from them. It's going to cost about $80 AUD so for that I'd like to have some indication if I'm getting it in 2 weeks or next year.

But it looks the goods. Get a little magnetic card holder and you won't ever need a wallet again too.

        • I know… It's so annoying. I really wanted a UAG but I emailed them and they don't have any other designs in the works… Now I have to figure out what to buy

        • I pre ordered this case and bought the <$10 clear case off Amazon while I wait. $100 spent on case and screen protector and I don't even feel bad because we got the ripper HN deal.

          • @dsiritz: What is the general opinion on what screen protector to go for?

          • @dsiritz: DBrand got back to me today. They'll begin shipping 'later this month'.

I might bite the bullet soon too. It's basically identical to the cheap case I now have, but won't yellow and has the Magsafe part. Apparently, all the iPhone accessories (card wallets etc) are a perfect fit too if that's of benefit to anyone.

  • +2

No phone for me today (ordered Monday), seems Porcelain ended up being a lot more popular than expected.

I was told there's no ETA showing by one rep, another said it's 1-2 week wait… 😭

HN Bondi has 24 in Porcelain on order, Broadway 8. Good luck to anyone who ordered there. Hoping it won't be too long.

Waiting sucks but at least it's a killer deal.

  • +3

Apparently the Optus signup system is down, myself and another guy just kept getting glitched at the address page. They put the phone aside for me to try tomorrow however.

    • +1

Yeah. I can't log into My Account

  • +2

Can confirm that system was down - I was unable to get a new number or port existing across… damn. :(

    • +1

Yeah same here..made me to go to optus since they could create a new ID with my info. Went to optus , they confirmed I never had any optus id. Came back to HN , then they confirmed system was down therefore was glitching

    • Friend tried last night and was told the same

  • "Credit Check failed, application declined". Dammit, any ideas/suggestions guys?
I'm a permanent resident just recently moved in to Australia. Got my Australian driver's licence and Medicare and everything. HN rep wouldn't have any further info :(

9 pixel pros within 20km of me on marketplace for sale - most are 256gb around $1400….lol

  • +4

    Hi all,

I just did the Harvey Norman it deal, it works. Here is my experience… step by step

    1. Went to Harvey Norman and asked for two Pixel 8 Pros on the $69 plans

    2. Asked for two new numbers, the guy was weird with me as he said they had no stock, then I checked and I went to walk out and becuase Chadstone and Springvale were showing, then after acting weird he pulled two Pixels out from back. It was very strange how he lied to me.

    3. Signed up for the plans and confimred the payout for the plans was $828 per plan if I cancel right away.

    4. Once I got hom with the phones I jumped straight on the Optus app and cancelled the plans, after they tried to convince me to stay. Next is the tricky part people may not tell you.

    5. After confirming I had cancelled the plans, they tried to charge me $69 per plan on top of each $828. I said this is not right as I only just signed up the plans and had not used the SIMS.

    6. After the Optus robot/person? spoke to their supervisor, they then waived each $69 monthly fee for each plan, and applying the credits ot my account.

    7. Final bill will be $828, or in my case $1656 for two plans.

    8. You can sign up to 5 plans per person.

    9. Enjoy your $828 Pixel 8 Pro 128GB.

9b. You can pay an extra $300 upfront for the 512GB as well, if you want to pay $828 in bill form, and then the $300 upfront. Making it a good deal for all you 512 lovers.
